cultivated, trafficked and abused illicit drug.

8. INCIDENCE

9.  About 190 million people all over the world consume
one drug or the other.
 According to a UN report, One million heroin addicts
are registered in India, and unofficially there are as
many as five million.

10.  In a rural population of Uttar Pradesh,
 alcohol as substance abused (82.5%)
 cannabis (16.1%).
 Current use of alcohol:
 45.9% in Punjab
 27.7% in Chandigarh
 28.1% in rural areas of Punjab.
 Age wise current alcohol user
 20-40% of subjects above 15 years
 10% of them are regular or excessive users.

11. So what can be said?
