Kyle Cooper is a famous and talented title designer who has directed over 150 acclaimed film title sequences. He studied graphic design at Yale and worked as a creative director before founding his own design companies. Cooper is renowned for his innovative title design for Se7en, which is considered one of his best works and helped establish title sequences as an art form.

2. Kyle Cooper is very talented and famous title designer who has
directed over 150 film title sequence and have all been extremely
successful and award winning. He is apart of two well recognized film
design companies, Imaginary Forces and Prologue Films. Cooper was
born July 1962 and studied graphic design at Yale University and
earned a M.F.A (master of fine arts). After this time he worked a
creative director at an advertising agency in New York and Los
Angeles. Cooper is well known for his outstanding title sequence for
the master piece, Se7en, which inspired many other younger
designers. This gives a small insight of how good Cooper really is. He
always wanted to raise the bar in creativity and felt that by creating
the title sequence for Se7en, it certainly done this. In 2003 Cooper
then found the creative agency called Prologue, which was based in
Malibu, yet moved to offices in L.A in 2008. His worked is sometimes
compared to Saul Bass work. Here are some examples of his most
famous and respected film title sequences:

3. SE7EN is an American thriller film which was directed by David Fincher, which stars, Brad
Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow. Kyle Cooper’s title designs for this film, are
said to have “almost single-handedly revitalizing the main-title sequence as an art form”.
Se7en is based on a murderer who corresponds to the seven deadly sins: Gluttony, envy,
lust, pride, sloth, greed and wrath. This film is said to be one of Coopers best title
sequence.

10. SPIDER-MAN-
Before the title sequence begins, there is a clip shown which is very well known to any audience, which MARVEL
entertainment, which is known for its comic books. This automatically shows the genre to the film, which is mainly
an action film but features a comic book genre. As the title sequence begins, it shows the company that produced
the film, which is marvel enterprise production, yet the way the words appear is in a very interesting. You can see
this as the words appear on top of the spider web that slowly comes into the first shot. This is a very good first
shot to use as it automatically shows the title sequence is strictly based on spider and shows his web, which will
excite the audience. It then goes to show the name of the film which is printed in silver/strong font which can
relate back to it being the web and the fact the text is glowing can suggest power or importance of Spider-Man.
When it changed to each clip, the movement of the text showing up and the changing of the clip, is very smooth
and as if its swooping, just like the movements of spider-man, so this could make the audience feel like they’re in
spider-mans position. Also, in the next shot, a different color is introduced into the sequence, which is red. This
could connote a lot of things, such as, love, the color of his costume, action/death etc.
I chose this shot importantly as it’s a very intense shot as you can see spider-mans arm, which shows him
clenching his fist and rounded muscles. This could show that spider-man is very strong and powerful, and also that
he is willing to fight. The next shot shows a point of view shot of spider-man’s hand, which shows him breaking
through his web, which could connote to the fact that he struggles to fight to be spider-man, so this could be that
he is trying to break free out of something, maybe breaking free of being spider-man. The next clip shows a shot of
his suit which shows clearly to the audience that this is what appears on his skin, when he has to become spider-
man (his suit). It then shows a short shot of the green goblin, which to the audience, they don’t know what it is,
yet it clearly shows that it could be a villain, and he is coloured green, which could relate to jealously and envy,
which could mean that he has rivalry with spider-man. The next and final shot i added is a clear interesting shot of
tall buildings, which could show the setting it is in, which to me is New York City, and the tall buildings shows how
spider-man travels round the city.

14. TWISTER-
This title sequence is very different to the spider-man one, as it is much simpler and shorter in
time, yet still just as effective. It begins shows a thick mist of smoke/dust and the popular ‘Warner
Brothers pictures’ symbol appears, which automatically shows the audience the company of the
film and this being so popular can intrigue the audience straight away. The rest of the clips are
similar, showing this thick dust throughout, which straight away shows the audience that we are
‘inside’ the twister itself. Text then slowly appears into the twirl, the text being very graphic and
bold and each letter sweeping in and out of the eye of the storm. This could be trying to be
showing how strong the current of the storm is and is chucking everything about, even the title of
the film, which is very effective. Also, the sound within the sequence is a very eary, as it starts off
quite calm and then you can hear sudden crashes and thundering which is showing the storm is
bruing and happening. This cautious soundtrack creates a lot of tension within the sequence. It
then shows the title of the film clearly in normal print and then quickly disappears.
