INTRODUCTION
 Born October 28, 1955 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
 She completed her schooling from Holy Angels
School, Madras
 B.Sc. in Chemistry from Madras Christian College and
subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Finance
and Marketing from IIM Calcutta
 Indra Nooyi also holds a Masters Degree in Public and
Private management from the Yale School of
Management
 After completion of her MBA she joined ABB and
then Johnson and Johnson in Mumbai
 In 1980, she started her career with Boston Consulting Group, and in
1986 joined Motorola as Vice President Corporate Planning and
Strategy. Four years later, she accepted a position with Asian Brown
Boveri as Vice President.
 Indra launched her career with PepsiCo in 1994 as Senior Vice President,
Strategic Planning and steadily rose through the company’s ranks.
 She was elected to the Board of Directors and became President and
CFO in 2001 after serving as Senior Vice President and CFO. She has
been PepsiCo’s Chief Executive Officer since 2006 and assumed the role
of Chairman of PepsiCo’s Board of Directors in 2007.

MOTIVATIONAL STORY
• Born into a middle-class family in Chennai, Nooyi has always been someone who
refused to adhere to the conservative norms of the society
• Her mother adhered to some traditional beliefs- she stressed the importance of
seeking a good husband early - but she also instilled in her two daughters the
belief that they could grow up to become whoever they wanted.
• Indra Nooyi worked as a receptionist from midnight to sunrise to earn money
during her masters at Yale.
• Being a woman, immigrant and colour made it thrice difficult for her to reach to
this destination, but only mantra which she followed during the course of time
was “working hard twice as the male counterpart
• In order to achieve a functioning balance, Nooyi explained, the lines between
home and work must be meticulously blurred.

achieve in relation to a set of standard, and to strive to succeed. In
other words, need for achievement is a behavior directed toward
competition with a standard of excellence.
Explanation: She grew up with her parents telling that she could
achieve anything she set her mind to. This encouragement has shaped
her approach in all work she has done.
