A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Francesca Gottschalk - How can education support child empowerment.pptxEduSkills OECD
Francesca Gottschalk from the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation presents at the Ask an Expert Webinar: How can education support child empowerment?
2. What Am I Doing?
• I will be making a range of online things, to gather a social following,
to get more attention to my brand and video. I want to do this
because more people can see my video and hopefully I can get some
positive and constructive feedback
3. Positive of Strategies
• Film festival- A lot of people will see it, makes my project seem more
professional.
• Online communities- Tailored to your target audience, a lot of people
could see it, very easy to do.
• Social media- Easy to do, helps create an online presence, potential of
a career online, massive market.
• Merchandise- Possible to make you money, gives attention to
your video, free advertisement if someone sees the clothing.
• Physical screening- Can make personal relations with whoever that
comes to screening, social.
4. Negatives
• Film festival- My video doesn’t suit the film festival type of movie.
• Online communities- Could get trolls or lots of hate as you don’t know
the people.
• Social media- Could get trolls or lots of hate as you don’t
know the people, could not get a lot of people seeing it If you don’t
have many followers.
• Merchandise- Can't really sell it at this point in time in my journey, I
know nothing about the clothing market.
• Physical screening- Online limited amount of people will come to
the screening, will have to provide food and drinks.

7. Clothing analysis
• I did this as I am trying to make a brand for my video. I think Chasing
Aesthetics, is a very marketable title. I believe I have made some
really nice designs that I would wear myself. I made some t-shirts and
vests to support my bodybuilding brand. I went for a simplistic style,
as I personally know from research that people who go to the gym
don’t tend to like wacky and out-there art on their clothing. I chose a
bold title as it reflects the conventions of the gym lifestyle. I will be
using males as my target audience, so this is why I used a black and
red colour scheme. I also used white as an alternative. I used the
research on merchandise I did from back on my research PowerPoint
for guidance.
8. Water bottle design
• I wanted a professional looking water bottle design for
this, as I think having a smart looking water bottle is
very important. I wanted something a little bit
different as for my design. I decided to use Greek
letters for my title of Chasing Aesthetics because I
think it is important to have variety in your products. I
kept my red and black colour scheme for this, I think
having the bottle red really makes this water bottle
stand out and look smart at the same time. The Greek
lettering makes the design look smart and flashy,
overall adding to the professional look. I decided to do
a water bottle as it fits with my video, being about
fitness. I lastly added a ml measuring scale as tracking
your water intake is a big apart of weight lifting.
9. Social Media Instagram
Firstly, I made an account called Jaybrownworksout. I
chose this name because I feel like it is easy to
remember for whoever is trying to find it. I then
uploaded a range of photos and videos saying that a
video will be dropping soon. I then uploaded a
collection of photos of frames of the video I had
created for this project, and I captioned it with
Youtube link in bio. To help promote this account I
also put it on my private Instagram story. My Youtube
video has now received 153 views in 1 day. I am really
impressed with this turnout.
11. Live Showing
• I will be doing a live showing at my house, for all people who are into the
gym. I will be doing this with people I know and also friends of friends are
invited. This is a chance to increase the amount of people who have seen my
video. I will be creating a poster for this, which I will be putting on my social
media account to advertise this event.
12. Poster Research
• I will be taking inspiration from this image here. I was doing
research on old-school bodybuilding posters as that is the
theme I am picking, and this one is the one that came up. I
know this is not a 'body building poster' however it has the
most famous weightlifter known to man
Arnold Schwarzenegger, so it gets a pass. What I will taking
inspiration from in this poster, is the layered text, and the
colour-scheme. I believe the layered text is a classic in 80's
film posters and gives that old-school look. The colour-
scheme will also fit with my chosen scheme for my project,
so it works great.
14. Poster Analysis
• I really like my posters. The redder one is the one I have liked the most and
the one I will be sharing online. I used a bodybuilder font for this that I got
from Dafont. I also went for a bit of an 80s style with the layered text. This
is because I took inspiration from old-school bodybuilding posters. I kept a
black and red colour scheme, which also fits with my same scheme for all
my project. I used a blending mode for the picture I had, which came from
the footage I used for my video. I had a problem at first as none of the
blending options looked nice until I changed the background to red then
put the subtract blending mode on. I really like using these blending
options as it adds a lot of character to the poster. The one I used still
doesn’t blur the image so you can still see definition of my muscles, so I
think it keeps the theme of the video.
15. Live showing in class
• I really enjoy showing class work that I have done. I think
this is an extremely good way to get feedback and support
for what you have made. This is because personally for my
project my target demographic is the same as the ages of
people in my class, this helps to get feedback from people
who understand your work. I used this format of working
for feedback throughout the stages of my project and it
benefited me greatly. I would talk to people at lunches to
found my idea interesting and I would show them my
video.
16. Banner
• I also created a banner. I did this because when looking at YouTube
channels, I believe having a banner makes the channel look more
professional. This will make my brand seem more appealing to the
audience. I put my Instagram handle as it will link them back to the
Instagram account I made, where I will be posting more content
promoting my video. This will increase my branding network of
followers allowing more people see my video.
17. Reddit online forums
• I posted my video to a Reddit
forums. I posted it to an active
group called Gym motivation. I
have asked for feedback and
hopefully I will get some
comments in the upcoming days. I
have done this to get more people
to see my video and to expand my
brand and hype around my
project. I do believe this was a
great way to get attention to my
video, as I identified it in my
positives and negatives.
18. Has This Been Working?
I believe doing this
marketing has definitely
increased its popularity
and got my brand to many
people. I currently have
530 views in just a few
days. I am very proud with
this, as it shows hard work
pays off.
