2. The Film: 'Lost'
• The title of my film is called 'Lost'
• The film begins where the parents of an 18 year old girl named Elizabeth begins to say their goodbyes to Elizabeth
and her 7 year old sister Lucy to make their way to their weekend holiday. As Elizabeth's parents prepare
to leave, they lay out the rules of the house to Elizabeth and tell her that she must make sure she is taking care
of little sister Lucy whilst they're on their weekend trip. Desperately waiting for her parents to leave the house
Elizabeth quickly reassures them that she has everything under control. As the film continues Elizabeth is
shown calling all her friends and inviting them over her house, as her parents have gone. Once Elizabeth's friends
had arrived they all went up to Elizabeth's room leaving her younger sister Lucy in the living room by herself.
Following this, Lucy is shown going up to Elizabeth's room and asking Elizabeth permission to play out
with her new friend named Fred. Busy having a laugh and gossiping with her friends Elizabeth doesn't pay
attention to what Lucy was saying and replies "whatever" and rushes her out of her room, leaving Lucy to believe
that her response meant yes. As the film goes on, Elizabeth is still shown talking with her friends until she
realises that she hasn't heard Lucy in a while now. Curious to know what Lucy is doing Elizabeth goes downstairs
and looks all around the house to find out that Lucy is gone. Elizabeth then leaves the house with her friends on a
hunt to find her sister. As the film goes on Elizabeth and her friends, are still trying to find Lucy. Then one of
Elizabeth’s friends tells Elizabeth that she remembers Lucy saying something about playing out with a friend
named Fred and Elizabeth assured them that she is more than certain that her little sister Lucy has no friends by
the name of Fred. A few moments later, Elizabeth makes the discovery that Fred isn’t actually a person but an evil
entity who captures children.
3. Genre (Sub-genre): Possession
• The sub-genre of the horror film is possession, because
as the film involves children there are a lot of ideas and
plots that can be used where the child becomes
possessed.
• Also by using this sub-genre the film will be more
challenging and it could create a convincing enigmatic
plot that would hook the audience.
4. Representation
• The characters that will be included are:
• Stereotypical teenage attractive female, who's popular
named Elizabeth who helps build up suspense in the
audience, as her behaviour often puts them on edge.
• Another character is Elizabeth's sister, a vulnerable
little girl called Lucy, who's naïve and falls into a trap.
• Also, a misleading character being a little boy named
Fred who appears to be innocent but is actually evil.
5. Mise En Scene- Location and setting
• Location include:
• Dark house, woods and children's room,
6. Mise En Scene- Costume, Props and Make-up
• Costume:
• Short skirt and tight top: for teenage female as she's popular and
appearance is everything for her
• Pink dress: Little sister Lucy as portrayed as innocent
• Long white top: Possessed boy- evil entity
• Normally dressed: parents of Lucy and Elizabeth
• Props:
• Candles
• Make-up:
• Dark makeup and eyeshadow
8. Risk assessment
• Some of the risks involved are make sure that the
location that we use are safe as they
include being shot at night .e.g. Woods. Also as
we are using children, we need to make sure that
they are kept safe by being supervised and with
an adult at all times.
