The Aguene Art Foundation was established by Chief Solomon Ogbonna to preserve and expand African art and culture. The Foundation aims to open a museum in Nigeria to display the family's collection of copper, bronze, wood, brass and ivory artworks, which has been accumulated since 1840. It also seeks to promote African artwork in universities, schools and museums globally to increase appreciation of African artworks and culture.
