Why?
Service Science on FI
The fact IT is a service was not reflected in study curricula
Jaroslav suggested the founding of a new study program, based
on
• Multidisciplinary approach
• Intensive long term internship
This idea was accepted thanks the long friendly relationship
with the dean of the faculty
SSME master study program was founded in 2008

Masaryk university is the second largest university in the Czech Republic. is a respected research university is the second largest employer in the South Moravian Region, currently providing work for a total of 5,120 employees consists of 9 faculties and over 200 departments, institutes and clinics. total of 32,392 students are enrolled at MU (2016).
  • 3. Faculty of informatics Founded in 1994 More than 1,884 students 25 bachelor and master study programs Increasing cooperation with the Brno „Silicon Valley“ • Unique environment of IT companies, IT-startups and IT-related universities Intensive cooperation with more than 200 IT companies
  • 4. Idea of service on FI • Employer of IBM • responsible for relationships with universities • Long time observed ideas, presented by Jim Spohrer • He proposed the idea of Service Science as the best way of improving of IT studies in Czech Republic Presented by Jaroslav Zelený in 2007 Why?

Service Science on FI The fact IT is a service was not reflected in study curricula Jaroslav suggested the founding of a new study program, based on • Multidisciplinary approach • Intensive long term internship This idea was accepted thanks the long friendly relationship with the dean of the faculty SSME master study program was founded in 2008

Problems • SSME was primarily created for students of bachelor study programs of IT • An interest of students of other study programs was not expected Emphasis to managerial classes • The number of student grew up very fast • To cover administration of the interships was out of the range of academical staff Administrative problems of internships • The concept of study program was too liberal • Absence of clear rules Insufficient T- shape profile Students must pass the entrance exam Special position – administrator of internships was crated Four pillars of SSME were created
