This document discusses behavioral emergencies and provides a case study example. It defines behavioral emergencies as abnormal or unacceptable behavior that poses a risk of harm. Various medical, neurological, psychiatric, and cognitive conditions can cause behavioral disturbances. The case study describes paramedics responding to a call for a 24-year-old man with autism and bipolar disorder who is agitated and throwing objects. The paramedics are able to safely assess the patient and transport him to the hospital with techniques to reduce his agitation.
