Text for question 19 to 22
We had a holiday at Georgetown, Penang last month. We prepared ourselves early in the
morning and started our journey an hour later. It took six hours to reach Penang and we
directly checked in at the resort. We were lucky to catch the sunset along the Batu Ferring
Beach near the resort. Then we had our first dinner in Penang at the food court nearby.
The next day, we visited the Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple. We went up the hill by cable
car. On the elevated platform, there was a tall statue of Kuan Yin and the other statuses of
different Gods. This temple is a central point of a festival of the Chinese community in
Penang.
The third day in Penang, we went to the Penang Hill which is near the Kok Lok Si
Temple. Penang Hill has a cooler environment. We went up the Penang Hill by the Penang
Hill Railway from Ayer Hitam to the top of Flagstaff Hill. We could see the whole of Penang
from the top of the Penang Hill. The fresh airs on top of the hill are good for our health. I
liked the environment very much.
This was the last day of our stay in Penang. We visited the Snake temple. The temple is
filled with the smoke of burning incense and a variety of snakes. Those snakes are believed to
be become harmless by the sacred smoke. We were allowed to pick up the reptiles and place
them on our bodies to take pictures.

The Lotus is an aquatic perennial plant, native to southern Asia and Australia. They grow
in shallow and dirty waters so that’s why lotus is most commonly cultivated in water gardens.
The roots of the Lotus are planted in the soil of the pond bottom, while the leaves float on top

horizontal spread of up to 3 metres while the showy flowers can be up to 20 cm in diameter.

in colour, growing to 16 -21 millimetres. Males and females look similar, but the female will
