Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

POVERTY IN PAKISTAN
Definition of poverty :
Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food , clothing and
shelter. However , poverty is much more than just not having enough money.
We can also say that , “Poverty is hunger” , “Poverty is lack of shelter” .
Causes ofpoverty :
Poverty can lead to other problems , we can also say that poverty is the root cause of other
problems .
Lack of education :
A poor person is not able to get education due to lack of money and remains uneducated.
Lack of education compels a person for less paying jobs and it makes him poor
Unemployment :
A jobless person remains poor only .
An unemployed person is not able to buy enough and nutritious food for his family and to
fulfill the basic necessities of his family and then their health decline.
Overpopulation :
Rising population is putting the burden on the resources and budget of countries.
Governments are finding difficult to provide food , shelter and employment to the rising
population.
2. Lack of infrastructure :
Lack of infrastructure means there are no industries , banks etc in a country resulting in
lack of employment opportunities .
Natural disasters :
Natural disasters like flood , earthquake also contribute to poverty .
Imbalanced taxes :
Pakistans tax system shows unfortunate proof of the governments corruption. The system
does not differentiate between varying levels of income but instead focuses significantly
on the poor.
Effects of poverty :
Poverty effects the life of a poor family .
Lack of food and nutrition :
A poor person is not able to take proper food and nutrition and his capacity to work
reduces. Reduced capacity to work further reduces his income, making him poorer.
Child labor :
Children from poor family never get proper schooling and proper nutrition. They have to
work to support their family and this destroys their childhood. Some of them may also
involve in crimes like theft, murder, robbery etc.
Lack of education :
A poor person remains uneducated and is forced to live under unhygienic conditions in
slums. There are no proper sanitation and drinking water facility in slums and he falls ill
often and his health deteriorates. A poor person generally dies an early death.
Homelessness:
Homelessness or extreme poverty carries with it a particularly strong set of risks fir
families , especially children . Homeless children are less likely to receive proper
nutrition and immunization . They experience more health problems . Homeless families
experience even greater life stress than other families .
So , All social evils are related to poverty.
Remedies to overcome poverty in Pakistan:
Equal distribution of resources.
3. Establishment of justice and equality.
Promote industrialization.
Elimination of discriminatory policies.
Controlling of inflation and other economic indicators and regulators.
Developing investment friendly environment.
Establishing more and more technical institute in order to get people well skilled.
Prevalence of education.
Provision of job opportunities.
The full equality between men and women in public as well as private areas of life.
End of child labor under the age of 16.
The guarantee of shelter, healthcare , education , food and drinking water as basic human
rights that must be provided free to all.
CONCLUSION :
Poverty is a social evil , we can also contribute to control it. We can simply donate old
clothes to poor people and we can also sponsor the education of a poor child or we can
utilize our free time by teaching poor students. Remember before wasting food ,
somebody is still sleeping hungry.
People of Pakistan have too got responsibility with equal share. People need to corporate
fully with government and should be sincere with their own country and put all their
energies for eradication of poverty.
