2. Music Video idea 1
Imagined by Andrea
- The first idea is based on a
performance music video style. The
overall style of the music video is very
artdeco.
- Therefore the first idea consists of a
1950s singer surrounded by her
dancers and their mysterious alluring
aura, captivating and seducing the
audience, man and women.
- Due to the song lyrics, the singer will
be the centre of attention and her
venomous shine will hypnotise the
viewers.
Some examples include Sade’s ‘Smooth
Operator’ music video, or Marilyn Monroe’s
‘I wanna be loved by you’ taken out of the
movie ‘Some Like It Hot’
4. Pros and Cons
Cons
- Finding an adequate location for filming
this music video would be very difficult
since it is supposed to be a old-style jazz
bar and getting the permission to film
would be near impossible
- The overall story of the video may seem
boring to some of the audience due to it
being simply focused on a women
singing and hypnotising the audience
which came to see her sing.
- This concept may wake anger among
the audience because of ‘objectifying
women’
Pros
- It would be a quick shoot since it
requires only singing and minimal
amount of dancing
- It would be aesthetically pleasing due to
the art deco scenery and the overall
sensual atmosphere
- It is visually simple
- Only one costume per person would be
needed, instead of having various style
combinations which would take time
and money to get
5. Music Video idea 2
Idea mainly created by Andjela
- We aimed to bring out the old style
video tapes, and therefore develop
a lyric music video imitating an old
countdown shoot, or even a
television screen.
- Due to the song we chose, which
has characteristics of femme fatale
song - slow, seductive and alluring -
we agreed to enhance our music
video styling it the same as old film
countdowns which were present in
that era, lyrics of the song placed
instead of the actual numbers.
- It presents a beginning of a movie,
a story, which the audience will
hear through the lyrics of the song.
7. Pros and Cons
Cons
- This music video would require high
editing skills and advanced computer
programs which would enable us to fully
create our intended idea
- By questioning our peers, we have
acknowledged that their attitude
towards lyric-based music videos
negatively connotated. They mention
how they are simply ‘boring’ and
‘uninteresting’ instead of a story-based
video
Pros
- No actors are needed, simply computer
programs
- Nowadays it is not common to see the
old styled film countdown which would
bring nostalgia to older generations,
however they are not our targeted
audience
- Overall, producing this video would be
acquired easier than a strenuous
process
8. Music Video idea 3
Initiated by Andrea
- The third idea for our music
video is based on the animated
style music video.
- It would display characters
similar to Betty Boop and
Jessica Rabbit, in order to
follow the art deco, femme
fatale style we are trying to
achieve.
- Our inspiration grew out of a
scene from the movie ‘Who
Framed Roger Rabbit’ where
Jessica Rabbit goes on the
1950s style stage and seduces
the male audience.

10. Pros and Cons
Cons
- Similarly as the idea no. 2, making of
this specific one would require digital
art knowledge with animated moving
images in addition to extremely
advanced programs and hardware
Pros
- Rarely any music videos turn to this idea
and style therefore it would be
something new and interesting to see
- No actors, cameras, locations, nor props
would be needed for making this
animated video
- Looking objectively, the audience would
be wooed by the attractive females
which would be our leading roles and
therefore keep their attention
11. Music Video idea 4
Idea created by Andrea
- The final idea we had discussed is
rooted on the narrative music video
concept.
- We wish to show the true life of a
femme fatale, women which is desired
amongst everybody, and her true self
hidden beneath the unbreakable
stone wall which awakens only when
she is by herself.
- The focus of this music video would
be to show that even the perfect
people, as we see them, still have their
own issues, even if they are locked
away from the public.
- One life example would have been
Marilyn Monroe, a world known star,
the most beautiful and desirable
women in the world, had a mentally
draining life which she couldn’t bear
and ended her life too soon.
13. Pros and Cons
Cons
- Since our music video will be based in a
jazz bar and the rooms ‘behind the
curtain’ known as makeup rooms where
performers get ready, the difficulty to
find the adequate venues is desperately
high
- A lot of actors, costumes and props are
needed
- Some may find the typical ‘damsel in
distress’ act boring however we are
discussing weather we should address
this stereotype and inversely make the
famme fatale have a happy ending
Pros
- The hidden feelings of these famme
fatales are often hidden, therefore this
could open the eyes of men, who
desperately want them to themselves,
and women, who truly wish they were
like them, who only see the surface of
their story
- We would like to bring back the art deco
style which was lost in the modern
world where nothing is left for
imagination
14. Synopsis
We have decided unanimously that the idea we will be developing is idea number 4. After
analysing the song lyrics, we wanted to show the other side, the vulnerable side, of Olivia;
the dangerous women no one is advised to get close to, who is actually the most scared
one of all. Even if she puts on the cover of the ‘famme fatale’ in front of the judgy crowd,
deep down she is actually insecure and hoping anyone would come save her – a damsel in
distress. However, we are hoping to break that stereotype and challenge the classical view
of this character where she does not get saved by her ‘prince’ but rather saves herself or
even doesn’t get saved at all, stays captured in the black hole she created for herself.
Olivia performing as the leading singer in the vintage jazz club wakens the dormant era of
art deco and the ‘femme fatales’, which reflects her personality. Idea 4 gives us the exact
freedom and a clear canvas to expand our imagination.
