PacIOOS is one of 11 regional associations of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) that provides ocean data and information to users. It has developed a web map tool for coastal management that combines sea level rise estimates and property data layers to help assess coastal hazards. The tool was created through a collaboration between University of Hawaii, NOAA, Hawaii state and local agencies. It uses open source technologies like GeoServer, PostGIS, Leaflet.js and allows users to search properties, compute coastal setbacks under sea level rise scenarios, and save reports. The tool is currently being evaluated with plans to improve the print functionality.
