Objectives
• To improve rural livelihoods through
participatory integrated watershed
development with consortium approach
• To establish as site of learning at Dindigul
district, Tamilnadu for demonstrating
the potential of rainfed agriculture to
improve livelihoods while protecting the
environment
• To build capacity of different stakeholders
for enhancing impact of watershed
program.

• Various rain water harvesting (12 check
dams, 15 well recharge pits, 5 percolation
tank and several small) structures were
constructed
• About 15000 m3
of rain water storage
capacity created• Farmers participated in productivity
enhancement field trials (450 farmers)
• Increase in crop yields in improved
practice was 55-62% over farmer
practice
• Improved availability of additional water
encouraged farmers to diversify field
crops to high value crops (flowers and
vegetable, etc)
