RULE:
We use apostrophe (’s), also called
possessive ’s, to show that something belongs
to someone or something.
SINGULAR NOUN + ’S
PLURAL NOUN + ’
The girl’s bedroom
(The bedroom belongs to
one girl.)
The girls’ bedroom.
(The bedroom belongs to
more than one girl.)
His book is red.
Their house is beautiful.
Her room is colorful.
Her favorite singer is Justin
Bieber.
RULE:
Possessive adjectives
My, your, his, her, its, our, your, their - modify the
noun following it in order to show possession.
Write sentences using possessive(S’) and possessive
adjectives
Example:
Julian /family/is/from Ica.
Julian’s family is from Ica.
His family is from Ica.
Anita/family/members are six.
Anita’s family members are six.
Her family members are six.
Kelly/mom/is Ursula.
Kelly’s mom is Ursula.
Her mom is Ursula.
Teresa and Pablo/ school/is Trilce
Teresa and Pablo’s school is Trilce
Their school is Trilce.
Alonso/sons/are/Miguel and Walter.
