Good day,
Grade-4
pupils!
Ivan decided to declutter his personal
things. He opened his cabinets and chose the
things that he wanted to sell but his mother
reminded him to be careful of making his
decision in order to avoid regrets. With this,
he keeps in mind his mother’s reminders. He
decided to sell his one pair of black shoes,
some clothes, and his computer.

At the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:
a. identify the possessive form of nouns;
b. form the singular and plural possessives of
regular and irregular nouns;
c. form separate and joint ownership of nouns;
d. use the possessive form of nouns in sentences;
e. share the importance of one’s possessions.

1.An apostrophe and an s (‘s) are added to

2. An apostrophe and an s (‘s) are added to
plural nouns not ending with s.
Examples:
children – children’s wear
My mom went to the children’s wear section
in SM.
men – men’s shoes
My brother sells men’s shoes.
3. Only apostrophe (‘) is added to plural noun
ending in s.
Examples:
boys - boys’ night out
They will be having a boys’ night out this
weekend.
pupils – pupils’ playtime
Pupils’ playtime will be conducted every
morning.
4. An apostrophe and an s (‘s) are added to
most singular proper nouns ending in s, x, or z
and the sound of s.
Examples:
Francis – Francis’s car
Francis’s car was being used by his father.
Margaux – Margaux’s clothes
Margaux’s clothes were bought last weekend.

Directions: Write the possessive form of the
following nouns by completing the table.
5. An apostrophe only (‘) is added to a singular
proper noun ending in s.
Examples:
Santos – Santos’ kitchen (read as Santoses)
Santos’ kitchen has a very modern design.
Carlos – Carlos’
Carlos- Carlos’ bag is very colorful
6. An apostrophe and s (‘s) are used for
letters and numerals.
Examples:
FVR’s speech
The FVR’s speech will be delivered next
week.
3 I’s method
Teacher Nicole uses 3 I’s method in her
teaching.
7. Apostrophe (‘) is not used for inanimate
nouns. The “of the” phrase is used instead.
Examples:
the legs of the chair
the stand of the TV
the cover of the car
8. Apostrophe and s (‘s) to the last word of a
compound noun.
Examples:
my brother-in-law’s job
my grandmother’s chair
