1. Portfolio
My name is Fábio Cruz Figueiredo, married to a marketing professional, and with a daughter of eleven
years old, I was born on December 14th 1970, graduated in mechanical engineering at Faculdade de
Engenharia Industrial - FEI – São Paulo (now University Center FEI) in June 1995 and I have dual
nationality: Brazilian and Portuguese.
Throughout my twenty three years of work experience in companies like GM, Ford, Pac Group, IVM,
Renault, Embraer. I specialize in plastic and metal components, for automotive, aeronautical, naval, project
developments, services, business, people management, products and design engineering development
manager in the following areas: creation, design, concept, benchmarking, requirements and technical
standards, validation, testing and prototyping, cost estimates (production, tooling and product), packaging,
materials, logistics, timing, and manufacturing quality tools.
International Experience: Experience in managing and coordinating groups, business, development, design,
engineering, lean manufacturing in Germany, China, Australia, USA & India.
Ford by PAC Group:
•Development & Launch the 1st. FORD Worldwide Vehicle B515 - New
Ecosport. After developed the doors for the B515 with the Body Closures
Engineering Team at Ford South America Operations, join the
International Launch Team. Responsible for engineering support and
leading the local builds for Hood, Fender, Doors & Swingate at VP, TT,
PP, MP1, MP2 & OKTB phases at Pilot Plant - NMPDC – Dearborn, MI –
EUA, Camaçari, BA – FSAO – Brazil, CFMA - Chongqing – China and
Chennai – India. And support Thailand & European (Russia) Builds. • The Brazilian Team at India Launch
•Reverse engineering Cab – Cargo truck. After more then 15 years old in
production and without tools changes, they would like to compare the
original project (Mylar and Paper draws) x the present production and the
deviations report for the next facelifts. We scan the Cab and reconstruction
in CAD the original design, and show the deviations. Today, all new
design changes for Cargo truck use the electronic math data - CAD
and reduce the cost and timing for development of a new parts and
designs (face lifts and engineering improvements.
• Restricted substances. A major program
to eliminate all restricted substances and
fasteners for all South America Ford
plants. I worked at the Taubaté site, that is
responsible for production of 1.0L to 1.6L
engines and gear boxes. On completion,
we were recommended to all Ford
suppliers for the implementation process
and normalization of all parts, creating
new business opportunities.
2. • Re-engineering of bumper, radiator grille and the step to access the cab for
Cargo truck. To improve manufacturing timing of these parts, they needed
change the production process. The new process for manufacturing the parts
needed to guarantee the same design and support the same loads as the old
ones. With data provided by the proving ground (frequency and Accelerations),
we created a prototype shaker to simulate the road truck life cycle to validate
the parts. With these changes, they increase the daily part and truck production.
This process reduce the timing to produce the parts and weight, improve the
quality & cost savings.
GM:
•Development of the trunk for the “Blue Car” vehicle
(Opel Antara = Chevrolet Captiva). Designing the
package for the mechanism, gas struts, weather
strip, blackout lines, brake light, hinges, lock, wiring,
rear window heater, trim, gap and flush for body &
liftgate, rear bumper and lights
•Development and preparation of audit report for General
Motors Corp. from GM Europe (Opel, Vauxhall and Saab)
engineering facilities activities (design, power train, vehicle
and manufacturing engineering). I audit Rüsselsheim –
Germany. The proposal for this study are improve the
facilities and giving a destination for the area are not using,
cost reduction and generate a new business opportunities.
Mold Master:
•Created a 2nd Row removable console, with
cup holders and storage for GM American full
size vehicles. The idea was create a console
that you can take with you outside of the
vehicle. Design the packaging mechanism for
securing it to the car floor, fixing strategy, using
the carry over part for the 1st Row (cup holder,
hinge, button, design harmony), ergonomics
and design.
Suspension Components Australia:
•Created a torsion bar bending machine – 3
machines for Australia and 2 machines for China
site. These were an offshore operation, I was
managering the projects inside the client facilities
in Australia whilst my team designed the machines
in Brazil. We design 5 machines in 4 months – 3
vertical and 2 horizontal.
3. Lear:
•Created a module headliner console, with
DVD and storage compartments (glasses,
lighter, pen/pencil, tissue, gate remote control,
CD/DVD storage, cards, Post-its) for GM
American full size vehicles. Design of the
packaging mechanism to open/close the DVD
screen and storages doors, fixing strategy,
using the new led technology for headliner
lights, ergonomics and design.
For working and managing a Design Automotive House and Product and Design Engineering I have
experience of General Motors, Ford and their Suppliers in these areas:
•Power Train: Air Intake, Air Filter Box, Air Intake Manifold, Exhaust Manifold, Fuel Line, Fuel Flute, Fuel
Injector, Alternator, Condenser, Engine Mount, Transmission Mount, Cooling System, Transmission, Clutch.
•Interior Trim: A,B,C & D Pillar, Headliner Console, Door Trim, Instrument Panel, Seats, Acoustics &
Thermal Insulator, Console, Luggage Compartment, Carpet & Floor Trim, Package Shelf
•Exterior Trim: Bumper, Weather-strip, Handle, Mirror, Glasses, Grille, Head, Tail, Brake & Reflector
Lights, Molding, Cover & Band, Rocker Panel
•Body: Floor, Panel, Reinforcement & Bracket, Cross Member, Luggage Compartment Lid, Doors, Trunk,
Roof, Rood.
Companies:
•FORD FSAO – Brazil, USA, India, CFMA - China
•GM Brazil, Opel & GM USA.
•The Pac Group - Brazil, China, EUA, Germany and Australia
•IVM Engineering – Brazil and Germany
•Ecodesign
•Renault
•Embraer
•Aruã-Dersa
•AgipLiquigas
•IPEI-FEI
Objective: Lead a working winner group, anticipating
trends within an ecologically viable and effective,
focusing on a good company that will give me
professional, personal growth and quality of life.
