2. Biography
I am Calin Ilisei, a first year student of Mechanical and
Sustainable Engineering at Arcada University of
Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland.
My dedication for theoretical studies began a long time
ago and it is continuously expanding, embracing the
real life application of theoretical matters. Very
passionate about 3D Modeling, Additive
Manufacturing, Programming and the Aviation
Industry. Holding engineering skills; very ambitious
and motivated to practically implement them.
3. The 3rd Belt and Road Teenager
camp – Nanning, China
Airplane Model
I will start this chronologically. This workshop camp in China was my
introduction to the world of technology and manufacturing. In 2019, together
with a group of students, we created Airplane Models only using some piles of
wood, plastic and paper. At the end of the workshop, I was awarded the “Best
Maker” prize.
Skills developed: Patience, Manufacturing, Creativity, Understanding of Aerodynamics.
4. Europaische Akademie Otzenhausen
My next project wasn’t related to engineering, but to sustainability, one of our focuses in the Ethical and Sustainable
Development Course and in the MSE Program. In 2021, together with teenagers from Germany, Italy and Finland we
worked on a one-week project workshop about “What is Sustainability and why does it matter?”. Our topic was “Cocoa
Beans Farming in Ivory Coast”. We all watched a documentary and reflected on it, discovering the deplorable way
cocoa farmers work and how the big companies take profit on their suffering. At the end of the week, our project was
the most appreciated.
Skills developed: Teamwork, Sustainable thinking, Communication, Problem solving, Personal Development
5. Introduction to Programming
For the “Introduction to programming” course project, I
worked with the number of passengers and cargo freight
through Helsinki Vantaa Airport between 2019 and 2022
6. Teamwork and innovation
• During the Sprint Week, among with my colleagues we have worked towards the
“Baltic Reed” theme where we looked for its practicality in engineering transitions, the
sustainability part and also how we can save the “Baltic Reed”. At the end of the week,
we came up with a project prototype that not only saves the deploration of reed, but
also adjusts its sustainability usage.
Skills developed: Communication, Teamwork, Multicultural interaction, Patience, Conflict management
7. Computer Aided Design
Chair Model (Still in Progress)
I am working on creating a functional 3D Model of an Ergonomic Chair and an engineering report of it (10-15 pages), where I will add
information such as “What materials were used and why?”; “Stress Analysis of the Design”; “Main features used in SolidWorks and how
the chair was modelled”. I wanted to add this although the project is not finished in order to show my work in progress. In my future
professional portfolio, I will not add anything unfinished. Also, I will create a professional website where I will showcase my work and
this Chair Model will be the first project there.
