Ponce de Leon was born in Spain in either 1460 or 1474 to a noble family. He discovered and explored several territories including Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and Florida. Later in his life, he supposedly sought out the Fountain of Youth in Florida but ultimately died after being hit by a poison arrow during a battle with indigenous people there.
