For my 30 minute dream counseling session, I worked with my mom. We share
our dreams frequently with each other so it seemed very natural to do this session
with her. We sat alone together in the living room and I asked her to tell me her

While we do share our dreams frequently, it s usually more in levity than in
analysis, so the dynamic was immediately different than it usually is. She took
more care in explaining her dream, and I made sure to write down everything she

As I mentioned previously, I m usually empathetic in my daily conversations,
especially with my mom. However, I did notice a much different environment to our
usual conversations about our dreams. I would definitely attribute this to the extra
effort I put in to communicating my empathetic listening. She even seemed to tear up
at one point when I said something that she was feeling, but couldn t seem to find the
words to describe. It seemed that our conversation was much deeper when active

I didn t feel bored during our conversation at all. It was interesting to ask questions
