Blueprint For Reconstruction
The U.S. Civil War ended with America bruised as the nation needed a path to unify
on all fronts. President Lincoln stood as figure who would begin the task of
restoration and integrate freedom of all people into American society. Reconstruction
would be a difficult problem to achieve, especially with the states of the South
challenging the Emancipation and a nation licking deep wounds. President Lincoln
wanted the nation to heal quickly, and his blueprint for Reconstruction would have
provided the unity that the nation needed for healing an unity. President Lincoln s
first step was to offer the South and all former confederate loyalist a pardon, or
amenity. President Lincoln appeared to be more concerned with the heartbeat of the
nation,
Terrapene Ornata
Ranging from the Rocky Mountains eastward to the Mississippi River, the ornate
box turtle, Terrapene ornata, is the western counterpart of the common box turtle,
a group of species and subspecies known collectively as Terrapene carolina.
Formally described by Swiss American biologist Louis Agassiz (1807 1873) in
1857, T. ornata is native to the Great Plains of the United States as well as northern
Mexico. Nearly a full century later, researchers validated the existence of two
subspecies within T. ornata. The first subspecies, the original ornate box turtle
described by Agassiz in 1857, became T. ornata ornata. American herpetologist H. M.
Smith and a colleague named Ramsey described the second species, T. ornata luteola,

Subspecies Terrapene ornata ornata (Agassiz, 1857) This prairie subspecies of T.

ornata has a darker background color on its carapace than the desert box turtle, as
well as having fewer yellow markings on each of its scutes. See the photograph on

ornata luteola (Smith Ramsey, 1952) This arid region subspecies of T. ornata,
commonly known as the desert box turtle, is adapted to drier ecosystems than the
ornate box turtle. The term luteola derives from a Latin root word meaning
yellowish. Referring to the overall lighter appearance of the desert subspecies as
compared to the darker ornate subspecies, luteola may also allude to the relative
abundance of yellow patterning on the carapace of the desert box
Criteria for Diagnosing Major Depression Disorder
Losing a loved one is often a very sad experience. For humans it is natural to mourn
the loss of a loved one. Although everyone suffers differently, grief is a universal
experience. For most people grief resolves naturally, but some people can face
symptoms similar to that of major depression. Although the typical grief period
carries on for about two to six months, people can now be diagnosed with major
depressive disorderwithin weeks of experiencing symptoms. Even well known
psychologists such as Sigmund Freud have stated, ...although mourning involves
grave departures from the normal attitude toward life, it never occurs to us to
regard it as a pathological condition and to refer it to a medical treatment. We rely
on its being overcome after a certain lapse of time, and we look upon any
interference with it as useless or even harmful (Shear, 2011). The elimination of the
bereavement exclusion from the upcoming Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders, 5th Edition will pathologize the normal grief process, which will
soon lead to over diagnosis of major depressive disorder and blur the fine line
between grief and depression. In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders, 4th Edition, the criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) was
listed as a loss of interest in daily activities, impaired social, occupational, and
educational functioning, and at least 5 of the specific symptoms to appear everyday.
These specific symptoms include a

differences in the movie and the book, as well as the similarities. What will the
movie have that the book doesn t? Read on and discover what is the same and what

similarity is that both the movie and novel have the ceremony of 12 s, along with the
event of every newborn receiving a comfort object. Going on,,Gabe, (the child that
never really grew to the standards of the community) is scheduled for release in the
movie and novel. Last but not least,, when Jonas and Gabe are nearing the end of
their long trek to Elsewhere, Jonas experiences an odd feeling (joy) that leaves the
story on a cliffhanger. All in all, many similarities can be found within the book and

to the book, the movie shows that Asher is assigned to drone pilot, whereas in the

Cosmopolitan Magazine Household
Cosmopolitan magazine is a common household name in today s day and age. The
magazine boasts catchy headlines, celebrities featured on their covers, and covering
a multitude of subjects relating to the lifestyle of modern women. However, because
of this reputation, many of the editorial s readers don t realize that the magazine has
undergone many incarnations before its current one, including family literary
magazine and muckraking investigative journal (Landers). Schlicht Field began
publishing Cosmopolitan in 1886, as a first class family magazine . An entire
department was devoted to the interests of women, of which included cooking,
fashion, dГ©cor, and the caring and management of children. After Schlicht Field
went out of business, just two years later in 1888, E. D Walker, a former Harper s
Monthly employee, became the new editor. He increased circulation with the addition
of color illustrations, serial fiction, and book reviews (Simkin). William Randolph
Hearstpurchased Cosmopolitan magazine in 1905, and the magazine changed
forever. Hearst seeked to use the magazine as a purveyor of exposГ© journalism to
aid his personal political pursuits , but when he abandoned his political ambitions he
returned Cosmopolitan back to a fiction periodical in the 1920s (Landers). Well
known writers such as Theodore Dreiser, Sinclair Lewis, and William Somerset
Maugham contributed to the magazine, only increasing the editorial s popularity.

Frederick Funston and Empire Essay
Frederick Funston and Empire
In San Francisco between 12th and 14th Avenue is Funston Street. By the Presidio,
the former US Army base, is an old set of military structures collectively called Fort
Funston. To most people these are just names to identify various locations in the
city. But behind the name is a person who is a historical figure that is significant,
not just for San Francisco, but for the United States of America and the Republic of
the Philippines. Frederick Funston was to many a hero of his times but to others he
was also a symbol of his times and not a good one.

In May Admiral Dewey and his task force sailed into Manila Bay and destroyed the
Spanish naval force based there. On the way to Manila Dewey picks up exiled
Philippine leader Emilio Aguinaldo. With the help of local Philippine insurgents the

signing of peace treaty.
With the end of the war many people thought that the Philippines would be given its
independence, such as Cuba. But in December 12, 1898 President McKinley released
the Benevolent Assimilation Proclamation . Part of it stated: With the signature of
the treaty of peace between the United States and Spain by their respective
plenipotentiaries at Paris on the 10th instant, and as a result of the victories of
American arms, the future control, disposition, and government of the Philippine
Islands are ceded to the United States. In the fulfillment of the rights of sovereignty
thus acquired and the responsible obligations of government thus assumed, the actual
occupation and administration of the entire group of the Philippine Islands becomes
immediately necessary, and the military government heretofore maintained by the
united states in the city, harbor, and bay of Manila is to be extended with all
possible dispatch to the whole of the ceded territory. Armed conflict broke out among

Syntax In Huckleberry Finn
Hence, in Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, both written by Mark Twain are similar through
the author s patterned syntax, audience engaging rhetorical style, and Twain s
descriptive diction. To begin, Twain uses patterned syntax to introduce his ideas,
provide knowledge about it to the readers, and to provide a smooth transition to
another topic of discussion. Twain first introduces the setting the topic and the
scenery. For example, Twain says in Chapter 12, When it was beginning to come on
dark, we poked our heads out of the cottonwood thicket and looked up, and down, and
across; nothing in sight.. creating an image in the reader s mind and visualizing what
the author is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Twain 1). So, this shows how Twain s syntax is related to both sources through his
way of developing a topic, with having his setting introduced first in this example.
In addition, Twain, or Clemens uses rhetoric throughout his pieces to engage with
the audience by asking if the reader understands and their opinions. More can
include what Twain would like the reader to focus on and receive from what the
author is trying to portray. Additionally, in both sources Twain questions the
audience, bringing emphasis on what the author is saying like, you know.
Furthermore, an example of Twain using this is seen saying, Steamboat captains is
always rich, and get sixty dollars a month, and they don t care a cent what a thing
costs, you know, long as they want it (Twain 3). In like manner, Twain uses other
near identical wording that delivers the same purpose. Given so, Twain says,
Jumping on a dead level was his strong suit, you understand; and when it comes to
that, Smiley would ante up money on him as long as he had the read showing the
intention and purpose using
Analysis of The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende Essay
After being accused of being possessed by the devil and visited by her Uncle Marco s
dead body, Clare del Valle began to keep a diary. Fifty years later, her journal was
used to solve the puzzle of a family history. In The House of Spirits, Isabel Allende
tells the story of many generations of a family in Latin America. There are three
prominent themes in The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende. First, the social divide
between those who are civilized and those who are supposed barbarians. Second, the
influence of women and their role in society. Third, the clash between social classes.
The first major theme in The House of Spirits is the division between civilization and
savagery. The country in which the story takes place remains... Show more content

Every woman in The House of Spirits is a protagonist, who each work in different
ways to protect their rights. Alba, Clara, and Blanca remain the focus of the story,
while the men enter through means of love and marriage. The major events that
dominate the story are experiences central to these women, including childbirth,
sexual and physical violence, and abortion. Besides Nivea s devotion to female
suffrage, the women rarely condemn gender inequality for their struggles. Each
woman s life is, however, scarred by this. The women in The House of the Spirits are
strong women who do not submit to mistreatment. The women affect more
permanent and extreme changes than any of the men implement. For example, the
men lead revolutions that temporarily collapsed the government, and soon after those
revolutions failed. The women have more exquisite methods. By teaching people to
read and to write and to practice health care, by setting curses, and by refusing to
speak aloud increases productivity in implementing long lasting change in society.
For example, when Clara s husband, Esteban, abuses her, she stops speaking to him.
She then restores her maiden name, and moves out of Tres MarГas and back to the
city, with her daughter Blanca. However, she preserves a civil relationship with him
until her demise. Acting out violently against Esteban may have been effective
temporarily, but not speaking to him enforced a permanent change in their

The QIP program was generally able to improve overall service level and customer
satisfaction towards the inspection team. In a customer satisfaction survey
conducted in November 1991 (6 months after the first survey and QIP), it showed
that customers perception on Roscoe s technicians, particular in the area of level of
courtesy, organization of work and willingness to make extra effort, were all
improved. Yet, it was observed in the second customer satisfaction survey that
customers evaluations of the overall performance of Roscoe were only slightly
improved. There was still more than 40% of customers believed that Roscoe s
service was not value for their money.
Approaching the year end of 1991, Porter predicted that
Doing Business in Saudi Arabia Essay
International Business
Saudi Arabia s Dynamic Culture
Introduction The American way of business differs from many other countries
across the world. Each company has their own set of tactics that they use to close
big deals. Businesses from Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, tend to do things a bit
differently. They take pride in getting to know the individuals from the other
company before even disclosing any information to them. Meetings sometimes take
place in less than formal locations such as coffee shops and cafes. The religious and
social differences between the United States and Saudi Arabia make it challenging for
Americans, unaware of the way of Saudi life, to do business there. They may

(Martinez Carter). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider
how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own,
businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented.
Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because
the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on
the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with
friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family
centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of
familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a
long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important
when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a
bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so
quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the
business and individuals they are dealing with.
The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting
as possible. It can not be determined that one is better than the other. However it is
more reasonable to follow what your culture defines as more common. The Saudi
way of life is based around religion and family. There are

Things Fall Apart Essay
Things Fall Apart describes the decline of the Ibo tribe, due to conflict between the
intervening Christians and the traditional Ibo culture. At first, the missionaries cause
no trouble with Ibo traditions. However, conflicts, like the split between Okonkwo
and his son, begin to emerge from the differing ideology. The symbolic tattoos display
factors, such as the introduction of Christianity, that contribute to the overall decline
of the Ibo people in a way that would bring empowerment to the Christians,
specifically the converts. The Ibo people s vision of a strength dominated society fell
apart due to the influence of the Christian missionaries and faith. To demonstrate the
strength, the tribe drinks out of an enemy s skull. The skull tattoo embraces this idea
through symbolizing the skull as Umuofia s strength with Christian elements
breaking in and Umuofian elements exiting. The Celtic cross breaks the skull,
creating cracks, symbolizing the intrusion of the Christian faith and damages of their
emergence. The clovers represent the increase in numbers of Christian converts and
the growing strength of the faith. At the skull base, yam vines, kola flowers and palm

La Migra Pat Mora
In the first line of La Migra , Pat Mora opens the poem in an appealing way by
stating Let s play La Migra as if the poem that the reader is about to read is about
any ordinary game (1). The poem is a game of freedom that unfortunately many
people face, putting at jeopardy the lives of all the characters involved if factors turn
against their favor. The prize of the winner is very simple for each; if the immigrant
woman wins she obtains the American dream, and if the border patrolwins he has
accomplished his duty of keeping immigrants out of the country. The author creates
two sections letting each of the two characters be vulnerable at one point but also
have authorityat another. In the first section, the border patrol is the one to hold the
authority. He repeatedly states I can over the things he can do to the woman because
he holds authority to do so (8,12). In the next second section of the poem the author
switches the authority around to the woman, and this is implied because at the end of
the poem she states Get... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I first saw it, it surprised me because it was in Spanish. The name was
straightforward and I knew it would talk about immigration from an immigrant s
point of view. As I started to read the poem it was somewhat different then what I
expected. The poem indeed was from an immigrant s point of view but also
included a border patrol s perspective. What I had never expected for the poem to
be is to have an immigrant woman defying the authority of a border patrol. In most
cases immigrants are scared especially at the sound of la migra which is a slag
word for immigration in Spanish. In addition, when the speaker was the border
patrol officer he made himself sound bad by stating the things he could do to the
woman. In most cases the speaker does not talk bad about themselves especially if

after Trip is whipped for leaving camp to find boots. Finally, he displays the

Relationship Between Religion And Philosophy

there any connection between Religion and Philosophy? Relation between religion

Food Allergies For Halloween
How to Help Children With Food Allergies Safely Enjoy Halloween
If you ask a child what their favorite holiday is, you might be surprised to hear them
say Halloween! Between the costumes, candy, parties, and thrill of the scare,
Halloween has become a fast favorite over the decades. Coinciding with its rise in
popularity, however, is a rise in dangerous food allergies that put trick or treaters at a
serious health risk.
What Are Food Allergies?
The body is an incredible feat of biological design, but sometimes, it mistakenly
attacks itself (autoimmune) or overreacts to certain substances (allergies), which can
lead to potentially life threatening symptoms. For people who suffer from food
allergies, their body s immune system mistakenly identifies harmless food proteins as
dangerous and abnormally reacts in efforts to destroy them.
According to FARE (Food AllergyResearch and Education), a food allergy reaction
sends someone to the ER roughly every 3 minutes.
Food allergy symptoms can vary from mild digestive problems to nausea, hives, skin
rash, vomiting, flatulence, itching, cramping, swollen lips, and even swollen
airways. Severe anaphylaxis and a drop in blood pressure can lead to loss of
consciousness and death if not immediately treated.
The most common food allergens include:

в—ЏMilk
в—ЏPeanut
в—ЏTree nuts
в—ЏFish

Kids can be allergic to uncommon allergens, however, including corn, meat, gelatin,

beak at the junction of its eight arms rather than manufacturing ink, H. lunulata
makes poison like the tetrodotoxin found in poisonous puffer fishes. Bacteria in their
salivary glands produce it. The venom, contained in its saliva and designed to subdue
or kill its prey is particularly lethal to human beings. (Campbell 2000,... Show more

Therefore, this study will focus on investigating this trait. The intensity of the blue
rings will differ with the proximity and size of the threat to scare the threat away to
avoid predation.
The independent variable that will be measured is the rings of the Hapalochlaena
lunulata. This will be controlled and manipulated using a stick with different sizes
of circles at 3 distances from the octopus s location in the tank. The three distances
will be at 60cm, 30cm and 15cm and the diameter of the circles at the end of the
stick will be 4cm, 10cm and 17cm. This will be tested on 3 female and 3 male
octopuses of relatively the same age. A few controls that will need to be insured is
the temperature of the tank, the size of the tank, the objects in the tank and their
location and, the location of the octopus in the tank. The dependent variable
measured is the size and intensity of the blue rings. This will be measured through
photos that will be analyzed on a software on a computer.
The gender of the octopus is not expected to influence the results as they are
extremely similar in size, appearance and behavior. The null hypothesis is that the
intensity of the blue rings will not differ or is not affected by the proximity and size
of the threat to scare the threat away to avoid predation. The possible results of the
experiment that would not reject the null hypothesis is that there is no correlation
between the size of the object or the proximity of the object and

Final Essay
The films Stagecoach (1939), High Noon (1952) and Unforgiven (1992) lend from
popular themes from frontier myths, however they employ these themes in different
ways that are representative of the social change present during the decades in which
they were produced. These themes include gender roles, villains, and the issue of
justice within a community, glamorization of violence and the genre typical structure
of the Westernmove. An overall trend in the Western genre is evident in the way that
these movies continuously challenge the progress that was representative of the
frontier West. Initially, western films did not have any social connotations attached to
them other than the glamorization of the west, but as the films progressed with time
we see this time evolving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Why Do Volunteer
Nowadays with people having busy lives, of school, job, and family, it could get
complex in taking time of someones day to volunteer; however, volunteering is
monumental to people and the community. Volunteer work helps connect people, it is
exceptional for the mind and body, and can advance career opportunities.
Making new friendships and strengthening them is to connect to one another with
common interests. In addition, one of the substantial ways to meet new people
around the community is to do volunteer work. By doing this makes the community
stronger and expands people social groups by exposing them to new people with
similar interests and exciting and activities. In this time and age more young adults
have a arduous time becoming outgoing; moreover, the reason is that they do not go
outside to meet new people because they are invariably stuck on their phones
checking out their social media. However, volunteering gives young adults
possibility to develop their social skills because usually people are put in a group
with the same interest and age range while doing volunteer work. Since the groups
have common interest, it makes it easier for teenagers to fraternize with people in the
community.
In today s time many teenagers have to fight against anxiety, stress, and depression
alone, and volunteering helps fight through those problems. Volunteer work helps
fight against anxiety, stress, and depression by being connected with other people.

Dirt Track Racing Research Paper
The particular community I consider to be affiliated with is the local dirt track
race car community. Dirt track racing is a sport in which race cars perform on a
dirt or clay surfaced oval track. There are various race car classes that range from
Hornets which are considered the least expensive all the way up to the Modified,
which is the most expensive class of race car to run on the race track. I personally
identify myself to be included in such a community due to the fact that ever since I

race track family (community). At the age of six my brother was very intrigued by

A Theory of Justice Essay
A Theory of Justice
Communitarian critics of Rawls have argued that his A Theory of Justice provides an
inadequate account of individuals in the original position. Michael Sandel, in
Liberalism and the Limits of Justice argues that Rawls conception of the person
divorces any constitutive attachments that persons might have to their ends. Hence,
Sandel asserts that Rawls privileges the standpoint of self interested individuals at
the expense of communal interests. I do not find Sandel s specific criticisms to be an
accurate critique of what Rawls is doing in A Theory of Justice. However, this does
not mean the more general thrust of the communitarian analysis of Rawls conception
of the person must be abandoned. By picking up the pieces ... Show more content on

The parties in the original position function as representatives of actual citizens in
society. However, unlike actual citizens, the parties in the original position lack
certain specific social facts that would bias their decisions on what the best possible
principles of justice would be. Hence, in the original position, individuals are thought
of as lacking certain knowledge, behind a veil of ignorance, and as guided by rational
choice. The parties in the original position then choose the founding principles of
justice that will guide the institutions of an actual well ordered society.
By neglecting certain facts about particular societies, communitarian theorists have
argued that Rawls theory of justice provides an inadequate conception of the
individual in the original position. Some critics have taken more specific aim and
argue that A Theory of Justice privileges the standpoint of self interested individuals
while inadequately accounting for communal interests. Michael Sandel in his work
Liberalism and the Limits of Justice advances this criticism of Rawls. Sandel
contends that by separating a person s ends from her identity, Rawls cannot allow for
any ends to be constitutive of an individual and hence communal. Because individuals
are not attached to their ends, they cannot but choose the principles of justice based
on self interest.

A Masterpiece Of Olfactory Art
Chanel No. 5: a masterpiece of olfactory art
It has been over a century since Mademoiselle Chanel, determined to reform the
concept of femininity as much in style as in the essence, commissioned at the chemist
Ernest Beaux what will become the symbol of the international perfumery. Chanel
No. 5 is unquestionably the most legendary ever made fragrance, described as an
opera of olfactory art. Independent, unconventional, and provocative Coco Chanel
transformed her unfamiliar name in an obligatory reference point for fashion design
of the twentieth. Icon of female strength, she translates the complexity and elegance
that characterize the woman, with the creation of what would become the scent par
excellence. Her way of conceiving the perfume is peculiar. When asked where to put
the perfume she replies: A woman should wear a fragrance wherever she expects to
be kissed (A Woman). Coco also launches what turned out according to the
instructions of the designer had to embody a concept of femininity timeless, unique
and fascinating. The avant garde idea of Chanel breaks every scheme imagining her
fragrance for a modern and independent woman, far from the stereotype that
envisages she should perfume of roses. Hence, Chanel No. 5 is the first perfume that
rejects the convention and symbolizes the technological and cultural innovation,
furthermore, the women s empowerment.
Chanel No. 5 is a concentrated of absolute femininity that shook the world of

The agricultural policy for Nigeria, (Federal Ministry of Agriculture, 1987)
outlined the traditional contribution expected of Nigerian agriculture. They include
the provision of adequate food, a source of employment, foreign exchange, raw
materials for domestic industries and the provision of a market for the product of
the industrial sector. The contribution of agriculture to food supply could be
measured indirectly via the volume as well as the value of food imports (Ihimodu,
1993). He also noted that a direct measure of food production is difficult because
of lack of adequate statistical data. It has always been claimed that the agricultural
sector supplied most of the food needs of the economy especially before and
during the 1950s and 1960s. In recent times however, there has been some concern
that there exists a widening gap between domestic food supply and total food
requirements. Some studies have shown that while the demand for food has been
growing at about 3.5% per annum, food production has been growing only at
about 2.5% per annum (Agricultural Policy for Nigeria, 1987: 12). This has led to
a significant increase in food imports both in absolute terms as well as in relative to
the total import bill. To a large extent, the absolute value of import had risen
overtime, as had the proportion of food in the total import bill. Generally, before
1974 the food bill constituted less than 10% of total
The Problem Of The Water Crisis
To address something as complex as the water crisis, one must first examine the
current condition of the problem. Currently, the water crisis is being driven by
three things. First, many governments in Africa are not interested in investing in
nationwide plumbing. That is either because they are not able to afford the cost of
laying the info structure or they can afford it but feel no need to invest that much.
Even if a country can afford to install plumbing, generally, plumbing is only
installed in urban areas and has little to no effect on those living in rural Africa.
Second, many large companies buy out water rights and use them to dump toxic
chemicals with no oversight. The result is that there is less water considered
drinkable. Furthermore, this can ruin long time water sources for people that may
be nowhere near the business. Third, some companies who buy out water rights
sell the water back to the people. Often times, they charge outrageous prices that
the majority of citizens cannot afford. As a result, previously free water is now
double the average income per day. In an effort to address the problem, a lot of
nonprofits have formed for the express purpose of helping increase water
accessibility. To do this, almost all of these companies dig wells. Unskilled groups
use dug wells or driven wells which are subject to contamination and ineffective
during a drought. More skilled groups use drilled wells which are less subject to
contamination and work in all
Greek Philosophy And The Greek Creation
The word philosophy , comes from the Ancient Greek word (Phileo), meaning to love
or to befriend and (Sophia), meaning wisdom ; making philosophy stand for the love
of wisdom . Philosophy is about understanding the fundamental truths about
ourselves, the world in which we live in, and our relationships to the world and
amongst each other. It is the study of general problems connected with existence,
values, language, and mind. Those who study philosophy(philosophers), engage in
asking, answering, and arguing their answers to life s most basic questions.
Philosophy is often seen as a Greek Creation . Ancient Greek philosophy aroused
during the 6th century and continued throughout the Hellenistic era. It focused on
the role of reason and inquiry. The Greeks believed in the rational reason that the
world is like it is. What is the world made of? What is the ultimate substance of
reality? This is why they were classified as thinkers . Greek philosophers were
great thinkers who were determined to seek out the validity behind a certain subject.
The Ancient Greek philosophical tradition broke away from a mythological
approach that used Greek heroes to explain the world, and it initiated an approach
based on logic and evidence. One philosopher who has had a great impact on western
civilization between 2000 B.C. to the 16th century is Plato. Plato was often thought as
one of the most influential philosophers of all time. He was a Classical
The Development Of The Palo Verde Irrigation Area

acres within Imperial and Riverside Counties, the valley, as it s frequently called, is
an agricultural hub where an abundance of produce grows, livestock feed is grown
and where PVID is given primary water rights in the state.
Thus, eight years later, in 1931, seven California water entities entered into a Seven
Party Water Agreement assigning priorities to the 4.4 MAF of Colorado River water
to which California is entitled.
According to the agreement, PVID, Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Valley

to comply with CEQA laws and very their own Administrative Codes, the suit
against the water district has resulted in the exposing of the illegal schemes done by

Valley region. Also mentioned in this complaint, PVID states, The suit details how
MWD violated California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) laws by executing six
farmland parcel leases, without an Environmental Impact Report, that include
draconian water use restrictions. MWD demanded the restrictions in an attempt to
divert excess Colorado River water to Southern California s urban areas. Not
forthcoming with details in responses to PVID s direct attempts to learn more about
the leases before they were executed and the illegal gift of public funds of more than
$125 million, which violates the California Constitution, on Aug. 7, PVID filed a
lawsuit against the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. As stated in
their latest press release, PVID Manager Ned Hyduke shares, Palo Verde Irrigation
District has taken action to protect the agricultural lands in its service area that

Research Design in Faith Based Recovery To determine what type of research
design I would use to answer my question relating to faith based recovery, I will first
need to explore the three major research designs with examples of appropriate uses.
Additionally, I will present my research question with the research design I would
choose and why. Qualitative research is the first design to explore. Problems are
discovered in the social environment and research is provided to address a person s
reaction. The study of human behavior and habits are done through methods of
observation and interaction using surveys and/or case studies. Experiences are
described by a person, their family, or the institution where they reside. Views can be
holistic, subjective, or interpretive. All situations are unique. Findings are usually
obtained from the subject s point of view. A qualitative analysis had been completed
utilizing a survey asking questions from recovering addicts the frequency of prayer,
meditation, and holistic clinical practices used at their treatment centers. (Priester,
2009). An excellent example of subjective data. A second design is quantitative
research. This analysis engages mathematical models, theories, and hypothesis to
examine cause and effect. It shows the relationship between data and observation
through measurements. Control groups are used with

In order to promote energy supply and economic development, which is the core of
this paper, the author argued that the idea behind the project was not to tap the
energy from the sun to electrify these remote communities. Rather, it was geared
towards installing small solar panels that were not much bigger than an iPad to
power the basic appliances (light bulbs, cell phone, and other basic necessities that
can alter people s lives) in those homes (2015). This demonstrates the economic as
well as the energy efficiency side of this study, which I believe Hallett will accept.
The author also argues that going small better fits the budget of rural Tanzanians and
the money saved from buying kerosene and other oil to lighten their homes were
used for other things. This concept is known as pay as you go. This concept was far
cheaper and affordable than what the government of Tanzania and some big energy
companies were offering, the author claimed (2005). In the final analysis, some
energy experts raised economic concerns that solar installations in rural communities
were costly and that the power offered by grids is too limited to meet the growing
needs of African countries (Galliot, 2015). For example, a senior fellow (Mwangi

of this fear of damnation, the veteran prays, in an ironically similar fashion to the

Absorbance Spectrum Lab Report
Plotting the Absorption Spectrum of Lettuce Leaf Extract November 14, 2012 Aim:
To see how chlorophyll pigments absorb electromagnetic radiation at different
wavelengths, with the use of a spectrophotometer to vary the wavelength of
incident light, and then plot an absorption spectrum. Hypothesis: The chlorophyll
pigments of the spinach leaf s chlorophyll extract will absorb more electromagnetic
radiation at wavelengths which correspond to the wavelengths of colors other than
green, as chlorophyll is green and it will reflect green light. Collection of Raw Data

We were also careful about the concentration of the extract, as the transmittance of
the extract at first should be between 65% to 85%; when it is under 65% the solution
is too concentrated and some ethanol should be added, and when it is greater than
85% it is not concentrated enough. Another crucial point was placing the cuvette of
ethanol into the sample compartment and calibrating to 100% transmittance using
the 100%T/0A knob prior to placing the cuvette of extract, as it is essential to zero
the absorbance every time before qualifying the absorbance of the chlorophyll
pigments. With special attention to these details, the aim of the experiment was
achieved. Although we did achieve our aim, there were a few errors, limitations and
weakness that obstructed us from achieving the most accurate results. For instance,
we should have read the instructions more carefully, because due to
misunderstandings we were not setting the spectrophotometer properly at first, and
we were able to realize it only after our teacher s help. Because of this lack of
concentration, we wasted a small amount of ethanol and extract since we used them
with the wrong settings and had to re do that part of the experiment, and therefore we
also wasted time. Furthermore, we could have observed and recorded the data more
attentively, and hence obtain more accurate results for the
Napoleon Bonaparte Tyrant
A tyrant is a cruel and oppressive ruler. Tyrants are egoistic, narcissistic, and may
have issues regarding their own self esteem. Tyrants are absolute rulers and abuse
their powers. Tyrants gain their power many different ways, such as control of a
government due to an overthrow, vote fraud or the control of public information.
Although there have been many tyrants featured in history, there is no doubt that
many of those rulers cannot even begin to compare to the tyranny committed by
Napoleon Bonaparte. On November 9th, 1799, Napoleon Bonaparte staged a coup d
etat against the current French government at the time, the Directory. He, along with
two other men, would create the Consulate. In 1802, he would be elected to serve as

However, even in his policies, they were subject to flaws and imperfections. As a
ruler, Napoleon showed time and time against to be an egoistic ruler, to the point
of censoring the press and creating propaganda, simply because by spreading bias
information, his citizens treated him as a hero, which obviously, as shown, he felt
he deserved. He received his place in government not by democracy, but by a coup
d Г©tat; an overthrow of the government. He did not become ruler by the will of
the people, but instead, by the will and power of himself. The Revolution was the
beginning of something great in France, however once in power, Napoleon
crushed the spirit of the Revolution in its entirety. He simply was not a
revolutionary man, as much as he considered himself one. He destroyed the ideals
and laws that French men and women worked hard to create and accomplish
during the Revolution. The rights of the Revolution that Napoleon implemented
into his Civil Code were adapted and revised in such a way, that they no longer
began to reflect the true ideals of the Revolution. The right of Liberty was limited
to a certain group of the French population, leaving a large portion out. Due to this,
it was impossible to live in an equal society, recognizing that only men were
accepted as equal citizens in the eyes of the Civil Code and women were not. Due to

California Anti-Smoking Laws
California has led the country in anti smoking laws with the passage in 1976 of
The California Indoor Clean Air Act of 1976. It declared smoke a hazard to the
general public and limited the areas in which people could smoke in public buildings
and outdoors spaces. California code Section 5148 prohibits smokingin the
workplace; this includes any enclosed space at a place of employment.
With the state leading the way, cities got in the act too. In 2006 San Diego banned
smoking at all city beaches and parks. San Luis Obispo was the first city in the
world to ban smoking in all public buildings in 1990. They have now extended the
ban to all parks and city owned outdoor spaces and in April 2010 they banned
smoking in all areas frequented by
Fostering Teacher Student Relationship in Nursing
Fostering a warm teacher student relationship
The teacher student relationship is very important for children. Children spend
approximately 5 to 7 hours a day with a teacher .We ask ourselves what is considered
a good teacher? All of us have gone through schooling, and if fortunate had a favorite
teacher. A positive relationship between the studentand the teacher is difficult to
establish, but can be found for both individuals. The qualities for a positive
relationship can vary to set a learning experience approachable and inviting the
students to learn. A teacher and student who have the qualities of good
communications, respect in a classroom, and show interest in teaching from the point
of view of the teacher and learning from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those teachers, who demonstrate respect towards their students, automatically win
favor by having active learners in their classroom. The arrogant or offensive teacher
will lack these positive qualities due to his or her lack of control over the children.
Teachers should assert that they should also be treated with respect .Teachers can
blend their warmth and firmness towards the students in their classroom, but with
realistic limits.
Teachers who are in a classroom might have experienced one time or other students
who are disruptive or find learning boring. Teachers understand that if this behavior
continues in the classroom and if they do nothing to prevent this from happening,
the outcome proves to be disastrous for both types of participants. The student will
conclude that his or her behavior is permissible, and will draw away from learning;
therefore it is essentially important for the teacher to explain to the child the
importance to learn. Though we understand that learning cannot be forced, learning
becomes a process for an individual where he or she feels comfortable with learning
whether it s in a classroom or at clinics.
Children in first year feel the urge to talk about their problems, fears, or even show
their knowledge, but at the same time they want to be listened too. The student will
feel valued and respected. Students feel happy when the teacher eventually gives
Romeo And Juliet s Death Essay
Romeo and Juliet is a story that takes place in a small town in Italy named Verona.
In this story, Romeo and Juliet s families constantly fight with each other. Romeo
accidentally gets invited to a Capulet party and attends it in hopes of seeing his
love, Rosaline. Instead, Romeo goes and spots Juliet and forgets about Rosaline
and falls in love with how beautiful Juliet was. I believe fate is what caused Romeo
and Juliet s death. I believe this because it was fate the way Romeo was drawn to
Juliet, it was fate how they fell in love on rival sides of the family, and it was fate
that Romeo got invited to that party. First, I think it was fate that caused Romeo
and Juliet s death because of the way Romeo was drawn to Juliet the first time he
saw her. I think this because the story states, Beauty too rich for use, for earth too

Bible as the Inspired Word of God Essay
Bible as the Inspired Word of God
The Bible is the work of various authors, who lived in different continents and
wrote in different eras. Furthermore, much of the text does not claim to have been
dictated by God and is not always God speaking to people. In parts it consists of
people speaking to God, as in the Psalms, and people speaking to people, as in the
New Testament letters written by Paul. In light of this, some maintain that it is not
possible to treat the Bible as a book of divine oracles, delivered once by God and
recorded by its authors through divine inspiration, since biblical authors were
products of their time and subsequently their understanding of divine truth was

It should, however, be noted that biblical texts only appear to be contradictory when
taken out of context. The importance of studying scripture as a whole is clearly
illustrated by the happenings of September 11th: Muslim fundamentalists took the
Koran s teaching on Holy War out of its context and used it to justify action against
America.
Many liberal theologians engage in hermeneutics, the study of interpretation and
application of Biblical texts. They may reject literal interpretations in favour of
establishing general rules from the Bible, thus maintaining that the Bible is not the
inspired word of God, but simply a text from which we can learn about God and
Christian teaching, and then apply this knowledge to our own lives. Considering that
this view overcomes the apparent contradictions in the Bible by, for example,
claiming that the account of God sending the Israelites to fight is intended to portray
his desire for justice, it holds strong. Nevertheless, it fails to account for the fact that
teaching within the Bible itself asserts that Biblical text is the word of God.
Interpreters must be wary before referring to the teaching of the Bible, for as John
Locke asserts, [3] the scripture serves but,

Canada has played a big role in the world since 1945 and this role has continued to

news there is another bullying, or a suicide related to bullying, incident being

figures lately. They are trying to send out a message to their followers saying that

Therefore, being cyber bullied can sometimes be much more severe than traditional

type of bullying can be more serious than conventional bullying. At least with
conventional bullying the victim is left alone on evenings and weekends

What exactly is cyber bulling ? The author of the article, What is Cyberbullying:

The Theological Concept Of The Divine Mother Essay
Debates on the theological concept of the Divine Mother
The 20th century feminist criticism of the systems of re presentation have attempted
to expose the system of power that authorises certain representations while blocking,
prohibiting, or invalidating others .83 Corrington further evaluates that if this is true
for modes of expressing concepts in general, it is even more true for modes of
expressing religious concepts .84
Moreover, summarising Ochshorn s argument for the expression of such concepts in
monotheistic religions, Corrington states that the limitation of a deity to a single
dynamic personality entailed the assignment to that persona of a gender that was
perceived as the least limited in its socio biological role .85
Such expression is seen in early Christianity, when Jesus as the incarnation of God
has become a crucial model for the saviour of the human race.86 In the work of
Ruether who argues for misappropriation of the saviour figure in the early Christian
thought, the discussion on such gender limitation takes the most dramatic turn:
Who is this saviour, and from what does he save us? This saviour of men comes to
free men from birth, from women, from earth, and from limits. This saviour can
only come in the image of the male. As God can only be imaged as male, as the
male is the proper image of God, so the saviour too must be male.... .87
The key to understanding this tension lies in understanding of both the
aforementioned expression of

Essay Russian Revolution and Orwell
Russian Revolution and Orwell
Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution have many similarities and ideas. The
characters, settings, and the plots are the same. In addition Animal Farm is a satire
and allegory of the Russian Revolution, George Orwell meant for it to be that way.
My essay will cover the comparison between Animal Farm and the Russian
Revolution. Also it will explain why this novel is a satire and allegory to the
Revolution.
First of all the characters of the farm have a special role in Russian Revolution. The
farm itself represents Russia, with its poor conditions and non responsible leaders.
Napoleon, the evil pig who plays Joseph Stalin in real life. Snowball, the leader who

Both the novel and Russian Revolution cover the same ideas because of these
reasons. In the Russian Revolution an non responsible leader name Nicholas the
second or how people those days refer to him as the Czar was overthrown by a new
leader with better ideas and ways to keep Russia alive. Stalin ruled for a great
period of time, and so he got kicked out too, this time by his own people. In Animal
Farm an old pig named Old Major has a dream about a world where animals rule,
there are no differences, all equality, a dream about communism. This same thought
applies with the idea of Stalin and his plan in ruling Russia. So when Snowball
hears this he and his comrades get ready to attack the government, Mr. Jones (also
known as the Czar ). When he is overthrown Snowball becomes the leader and is
betrayed by Napoleon. This event is when Stalin kicks out Lenin. Mendez 3
Animal Farm is a great example of a Political Satire . In Chapter one it tells how the
author, George Orwell, feels about the novel. Also it gives reference to the farm and
how it relates to Russia. But you can see all the irony in chapter two. Human nature
can t handle communism . We are too devious and too demanding for the things we
want, we are bossy . From chapter two to the last chapter shows how the novel is
irony and in the
Benefits Of Castor Oil
Natural Benefits of Castor Oil for Skin:
Castor oil is the go to traditional cure for all kinds of skin and hair problems, as well
as for a variety of health issues such as joint pains and upset stomach. Castor oil has
been used for as long as since the ancient Egytians to induce labour.
The oil is extracted from crushing the seeds and has been used as a centuries old
remedy use by traditional healers for inflammation and bacterial infections. In the
present time, its anti oxidant properties have been vastly studied and thus it is more
commonly used for its medicinal and therapeutic benefits.
As a beauty care agent for the skin and hair, it is one of the most widely used

The ideal quantity for single use is two to three drops. Be careful to use the castor oil
available in health or medicine stores only, as the industrial variety is not very
refined and may cause more damage to your skin.
Cleansing
According to some dermatologists, Oil Cleansing Method is an effective
cleansing, toning, moisturizing regime that aims to deep clean the pores and get
rid of blackhead causing debris. In order to use castor oil to deep clean pores, mix it
with a light oil like apricot oil, olive oil or jojoba oil and massage it into your facial
skin gently and thoroughly.
The good fatty acids in castor oil displace the waxy debris that would otherwise
cause blackheads and acne. After massage, soak a clean washcloth in lukewarm
water, wring out the excess water and apply the hot cloth over your face until it cools.
This will help to remove pore clogging materials better. Be careful not to burn your
face. You can repeat this steaming process a few more times. This way you remove
make up, dirt, moisturizers and excess oil from the pores and deep clean them while
ensuring that the skill does not dry out.
Promote Americanism In School
What can I Personally do to Promote Americanism in my School or Community?
Americanism is a word that we should all be familiar with. It is something that
defines this country and the people in it. Americanism to me is being courteous
and gracious to the country that you live in. In my essay, I will be talking about
what it means to have a flag in the classroom, community service, and how to be a
citizen of your town/city. My first main point is what it symbolizes to have a
school flag in the classroom. I believe that every classroom, big or small, should
have an American flag to support our country and be proud to live in it. This is
one of the many ways to show that you service the people that have sacrificed their
lives for us. The 50 stars represent the 50 states that are free because of them. They
are American heroes and the flag is representing that we will never forget them.
They are one with the flag. Believing in this, there should be a flag in practically
every corner.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on where you live, community service is different for everyone. But
despite where your community is, there is always a way to help out and contribute.
Community service is a way to show that you as a citizen, are grateful to live in a
community that supports you and you would like to keep that tradition going in the
town. Community doesn t have to be a thing to get into a good school. It should be
something to do out of respect for your family and the people that you care about

Formally described by Swiss American biologist Louis Agassiz (1807 1873) in 1857, T. ornata is native to the Great Plains of the United States as well as northern Mexico. Nearly a full century later, researchers validated the existence of two subspecies within T. ornata. The first subspecies, the original ornate box turtle described by Agassiz in 1857, became T. ornata ornata. American herpetologist H. M. • 4. Criteria for Diagnosing Major Depression Disorder Losing a loved one is often a very sad experience. For humans it is natural to mourn the loss of a loved one. Although everyone suffers differently, grief is a universal experience. For most people grief resolves naturally, but some people can face symptoms similar to that of major depression. Although the typical grief period carries on for about two to six months, people can now be diagnosed with major depressive disorderwithin weeks of experiencing symptoms. Even well known psychologists such as Sigmund Freud have stated, ...although mourning involves grave departures from the normal attitude toward life, it never occurs to us to regard it as a pathological condition and to refer it to a medical treatment. We rely on its being overcome after a certain lapse of time, and we look upon any interference with it as useless or even harmful (Shear, 2011). The elimination of the bereavement exclusion from the upcoming Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition will pathologize the normal grief process, which will soon lead to over diagnosis of major depressive disorder and blur the fine line between grief and depression. In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition, the criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) was listed as a loss of interest in daily activities, impaired social, occupational, and educational functioning, and at least 5 of the specific symptoms to appear everyday. These specific symptoms include a

The magazine boasts catchy headlines, celebrities featured on their covers, and covering a multitude of subjects relating to the lifestyle of modern women. However, because of this reputation, many of the editorial s readers don t realize that the magazine has undergone many incarnations before its current one, including family literary magazine and muckraking investigative journal (Landers). Schlicht Field began publishing Cosmopolitan in 1886, as a first class family magazine . An entire department was devoted to the interests of women, of which included cooking, fashion, dГ©cor, and the caring and management of children. After Schlicht Field went out of business, just two years later in 1888, E. D Walker, a former Harper s Monthly employee, became the new editor. He increased circulation with the addition of color illustrations, serial fiction, and book reviews (Simkin). Syntax In Huckleberry Finn Hence, in Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, both written by Mark Twain are similar through the author s patterned syntax, audience engaging rhetorical style, and Twain s descriptive diction. To begin, Twain uses patterned syntax to introduce his ideas, provide knowledge about it to the readers, and to provide a smooth transition to another topic of discussion. Twain first introduces the setting the topic and the scenery. For example, Twain says in Chapter 12, When it was beginning to come on dark, we poked our heads out of the cottonwood thicket and looked up, and down, and across; nothing in sight.. creating an image in the reader s mind and visualizing what the author is... So, this shows how Twain s syntax is related to both sources through his way of developing a topic, with having his setting introduced first in this example. In addition, Twain, or Clemens uses rhetoric throughout his pieces to engage with the audience by asking if the reader understands and their opinions. More can include what Twain would like the reader to focus on and receive from what the author is trying to portray. Additionally, in both sources Twain questions the audience, bringing emphasis on what the author is saying like, you know. Furthermore, an example of Twain using this is seen saying, Steamboat captains is always rich, and get sixty dollars a month, and they don t care a cent what a thing costs, you know, long as they want it (Twain 3). In like manner, Twain uses other near identical wording that delivers the same purpose. Given so, Twain says, Jumping on a dead level was his strong suit, you understand; and when it comes to that, Smiley would ante up money on him as long as he had the read showing the intention and purpose using

The major events that dominate the story are experiences central to these women, including childbirth, sexual and physical violence, and abortion. Besides Nivea s devotion to female suffrage, the women rarely condemn gender inequality for their struggles. Each woman s life is, however, scarred by this. The women in The House of the Spirits are strong women who do not submit to mistreatment. The women affect more permanent and extreme changes than any of the men implement. For example, the men lead revolutions that temporarily collapsed the government, and soon after those revolutions failed. The women have more exquisite methods. By teaching people to read and to write and to practice health care, by setting curses, and by refusing to speak aloud increases productivity in implementing long lasting change in society. For example, when Clara s husband, Esteban, abuses her, she stops speaking to him. She then restores her maiden name, and moves out of Tres MarГas and back to the city, with her daughter Blanca. However, she preserves a civil relationship with him until her demise. Acting out violently against Esteban may have been effective temporarily, but not speaking to him enforced a permanent change in their

When doing business internationally, it is important to consider how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own, businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented. Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the business and individuals they are dealing with. The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting as possible. It can not be determined that one is better than the other. At first, the missionaries cause no trouble with Ibo traditions. However, conflicts, like the split between Okonkwo and his son, begin to emerge from the differing ideology. The symbolic tattoos display factors, such as the introduction of Christianity, that contribute to the overall decline of the Ibo people in a way that would bring empowerment to the Christians, specifically the converts. The Ibo people s vision of a strength dominated society fell apart due to the influence of the Christian missionaries and faith. To demonstrate the strength, the tribe drinks out of an enemy s skull. The skull tattoo embraces this idea through symbolizing the skull as Umuofia s strength with Christian elements breaking in and Umuofian elements exiting. The Celtic cross breaks the skull, creating cracks, symbolizing the intrusion of the Christian faith and damages of their emergence. The poem is a game of freedom that unfortunately many people face, putting at jeopardy the lives of all the characters involved if factors turn against their favor. The prize of the winner is very simple for each; if the immigrant woman wins she obtains the American dream, and if the border patrolwins he has accomplished his duty of keeping immigrants out of the country. The author creates two sections letting each of the two characters be vulnerable at one point but also have authorityat another. In the first section, the border patrol is the one to hold the authority. He repeatedly states I can over the things he can do to the woman because he holds authority to do so (8,12). They include the provision of adequate food, a source of employment, foreign exchange, raw materials for domestic industries and the provision of a market for the product of the industrial sector. The contribution of agriculture to food supply could be measured indirectly via the volume as well as the value of food imports (Ihimodu, 1993). He also noted that a direct measure of food production is difficult because of lack of adequate statistical data. It has always been claimed that the agricultural sector supplied most of the food needs of the economy especially before and during the 1950s and 1960s. In recent times however, there has been some concern that there exists a widening gap between domestic food supply and total food requirements. It is the study of general problems connected with existence, values, language, and mind. Those who study philosophy(philosophers), engage in asking, answering, and arguing their answers to life s most basic questions. Philosophy is often seen as a Greek Creation . Ancient Greek philosophy aroused during the 6th century and continued throughout the Hellenistic era. It focused on the role of reason and inquiry. The Greeks believed in the rational reason that the world is like it is. What is the world made of? What is the ultimate substance of reality? This is why they were classified as thinkers . Greek philosophers were great thinkers who were determined to seek out the validity behind a certain subject. The Ancient Greek philosophical tradition broke away from a mythological approach that used Greek heroes to explain the world, and it initiated an approach based on logic and evidence. One philosopher who has had a great impact on western civilization between 2000 B.C. to the 16th century is Plato. Plato was often thought as one of the most influential philosophers of all time. DeLorco Ohio Christian University October 22, 2016 Research Design in Faith Based Recovery To determine what type of research design I would use to answer my question relating to faith based recovery, I will first need to explore the three major research designs with examples of appropriate uses. Additionally, I will present my research question with the research design I would choose and why. Qualitative research is the first design to explore. Problems are discovered in the social environment and research is provided to address a person s reaction. The study of human behavior and habits are done through methods of observation and interaction using surveys and/or case studies. Experiences are described by a person, their family, or the institution where they reside. Views can be holistic, subjective, or interpretive. All situations are unique. Findings are usually obtained from the subject s point of view. A qualitative analysis had been completed utilizing a survey asking questions from recovering addicts the frequency of prayer, meditation, and holistic clinical practices used at their treatment centers. (Priester, 2009). An excellent example of subjective data. A second design is quantitative research. This analysis engages mathematical models, theories, and hypothesis to examine cause and effect. It shows the relationship between data and observation through measurements. Control groups are used with

Rather, it was geared towards installing small solar panels that were not much bigger than an iPad to power the basic appliances (light bulbs, cell phone, and other basic necessities that can alter people s lives) in those homes (2015). This demonstrates the economic as well as the energy efficiency side of this study, which I believe Hallett will accept. Another crucial point was placing the cuvette of ethanol into the sample compartment and calibrating to 100% transmittance using the 100%T/0A knob prior to placing the cuvette of extract, as it is essential to zero the absorbance every time before qualifying the absorbance of the chlorophyll pigments. Many liberal theologians engage in hermeneutics, the study of interpretation and application of Biblical texts. They may reject literal interpretations in favour of establishing general rules from the Bible, thus maintaining that the Bible is not the inspired word of God, but simply a text from which we can learn about God and Christian teaching, and then apply this knowledge to our own lives. Considering that this view overcomes the apparent contradictions in the Bible by, for example, claiming that the account of God sending the Israelites to fight is intended to portray his desire for justice, it holds strong. This saviour of men comes to free men from birth, from women, from earth, and from limits. This saviour can only come in the image of the male. As God can only be imaged as male, as the male is the proper image of God, so the saviour too must be male.... .87 The key to understanding this tension lies in understanding of both the aforementioned expression of

  • 53. Essay Russian Revolution and Orwell Russian Revolution and Orwell Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution have many similarities and ideas. The characters, settings, and the plots are the same. In addition Animal Farm is a satire and allegory of the Russian Revolution, George Orwell meant for it to be that way. My essay will cover the comparison between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution. Also it will explain why this novel is a satire and allegory to the Revolution. First of all the characters of the farm have a special role in Russian Revolution. The farm itself represents Russia, with its poor conditions and non responsible leaders. Napoleon, the evil pig who plays Joseph Stalin in real life. Snowball, the leader who gives aid and information to Napoleon and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the novel and Russian Revolution cover the same ideas because of these reasons. In the Russian Revolution an non responsible leader name Nicholas the second or how people those days refer to him as the Czar was overthrown by a new leader with better ideas and ways to keep Russia alive. Stalin ruled for a great period of time, and so he got kicked out too, this time by his own people. In Animal Farm an old pig named Old Major has a dream about a world where animals rule, there are no differences, all equality, a dream about communism. This same thought applies with the idea of Stalin and his plan in ruling Russia. So when Snowball hears this he and his comrades get ready to attack the government, Mr. Jones (also known as the Czar ). When he is overthrown Snowball becomes the leader and is betrayed by Napoleon. This event is when Stalin kicks out Lenin. Mendez 3 Animal Farm is a great example of a Political Satire . In Chapter one it tells how the author, George Orwell, feels about the novel. Also it gives reference to the farm and how it relates to Russia. But you can see all the irony in chapter two. Human nature can t handle communism . We are too devious and too demanding for the things we want, we are bossy . From chapter two to the last chapter shows how the novel is irony and in the

Cleansing According to some dermatologists, Oil Cleansing Method is an effective cleansing, toning, moisturizing regime that aims to deep clean the pores and get rid of blackhead causing debris. In order to use castor oil to deep clean pores, mix it with a light oil like apricot oil, olive oil or jojoba oil and massage it into your facial skin gently and thoroughly. The good fatty acids in castor oil displace the waxy debris that would otherwise cause blackheads and acne. • 55. Promote Americanism In School What can I Personally do to Promote Americanism in my School or Community? Americanism is a word that we should all be familiar with. It is something that defines this country and the people in it. Americanism to me is being courteous and gracious to the country that you live in. In my essay, I will be talking about what it means to have a flag in the classroom, community service, and how to be a citizen of your town/city. My first main point is what it symbolizes to have a school flag in the classroom. I believe that every classroom, big or small, should have an American flag to support our country and be proud to live in it. This is one of the many ways to show that you service the people that have sacrificed their lives for us. The 50 stars represent the 50 states that are free because of them. They are American heroes and the flag is representing that we will never forget them. They are one with the flag. Believing in this, there should be a flag in practically every corner.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on where you live, community service is different for everyone. But despite where your community is, there is always a way to help out and contribute. Community service is a way to show that you as a citizen, are grateful to live in a community that supports you and you would like to keep that tradition going in the town. Community doesn t have to be a thing to get into a good school. It should be something to do out of respect for your family and the people that you care about around
