This document discusses the potential use of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles in Kerala, India to address growing fuel and power crises while providing environmental and economic benefits. It analyzes the feasibility and advantages of implementing a CNG program in Trivandrum and Kochi, including increasing awareness, providing subsidies, and converting public transport vehicles. Data on vehicle growth and costs show CNG can reduce fuel costs while generating less pollution compared to petrol and diesel. The conclusion is that introducing CNG vehicles can help develop Kerala's environment and economy in a sustainable way.

• Refueling through Existing Petrol pumps.
• For investment, public-private partnership
• Public transport vehicle engines can be replaced by
CNG kits.

5. PROJECT FEASIBILITY
• Society of Kerala is ready to adapt any new technology that
has benefits to environment and their economic status.
• Use of vehicles is increasing; fuel crisis can be solved.
• According to survey, more people want the gasoline cost to be
reduced, so the chance of using CNG is high.

6. DATA COLLECTION
• Data released by the Transport Department, there are
20,97,863 in April 2000 which rose to 68,70,354 vehicles
registered in Kerala till March 2012. (300 per cent rise)
• Number of private cars increased from 2,82,996 in 2000 to
12,26,691 in 2012
• Carriage buses 11,961 in 2000 to 26,172 in 2012.
• Auto rickshaws - 2,48,350 in 2000 to 5,75,763 in 2012.
• Cost before and after for the use of CNG.
• Maintenance of vehicles.
• Customer preference in buying CNG vehicles

8. ADVANTAGES
• Affordable for common people in cost(bus ticket , taxi’s).
• CNG-powered vehicles have lower maintenance costs than
other hydrocarbon-fuel-powered vehicles.
• Pollution free Environment(eco-friendly)
• Good for vehicles and also increases mileage( taxi drivers and
middle class people).
• CNG is less likely to ignite on hot surfaces(safe).
• CNG fuel systems are sealed, preventing fuel loses from spills
or evaporation.
• Doesn’t affect the engine parts, compared with diesel

9. • High Startup Cost(can be overcome by contracts)
• Require a greater amount of space for fuel storage than
conventional gasoline powered vehicles. (but can be used in
public transport easily)
• Awareness should be made among public.
DISADVANTAGES
FUTURE SCOPE
• Usage of CNG not only in vehicles but also for electricity
production in small scale, Monorails.
• CNG in Scooters and Bikes.
• Future vehicles will use CNG, which can be produced totally
in INDIA.
• Usable in future machines by doing more research

10. CONCLUSION
• Many factors which threaten our environment in
different ways.
• As the need for development and technology raises,
its our responsibility to protect the environment and
to create a social change.
• This project aims in introducing greenery
environment for the development of Kerala.
