Play is vital for children's development in many ways. Through play, children develop important social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and self-regulation skills that help them adapt. Lack of play can negatively impact neurological development and increase risks of issues like aggression and cognitive/emotional difficulties later in life. At Bishop John Robinson Primary School, staff support children's play daily and give opportunities to engage in different play types to aid their growth. Parents can help by making time and space for daily child-led play, participating, and communicating with teachers.
