2. •To enable the establishment of quality focused multimodal transport system to provide
a “ single journey experience ” i.e. to plan for “seamless travel”
• To co-coordinate the use of different modes and their proper integration for efficiency
and cost effectiveness of interchange.

FORMULATION OF FRAMEWORK & GUIDELINES FOR MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT HUB: Study Area: Sealdah Interchange, Kolkata
6. •Conflict between freight movement and pedestrian movement
•Conflict between traffic movement and pedestrian movement
•Time taken to walk between the modes is high, (e.g – NRS bus stand and the station
transfer time can vary between 5 to 10 mins)
•Subway exists between pf-6 and BB Ganguly St., but it does not cater to the majority of
pedestrian volume.
•Vehicular congestion along the flyover – as the space below cannot be used for vehicular
traffic.
•No weather protection in the interchange
•Overcrowding in buses, autos and stops in peak office hours (9am-12pm) and (4-7 pm)
–
• Unorganized retail outside the Shishir market
