A workshop on "Planning and redesigning a social intranet" as presented by Toby Ward, President, Prescient Digital Media, at the Intranet Global Forum in New York City on October 22, 2015.
Planning is tantamount to success; design while not nearly as important, keeps them coming back. However, don’t ever begin design without a plan – the equivalent of putting the horse AND the driver before the cart..
The document discusses strategies for designing effective intranets. It notes recent trends like responsive design and popular features. It identifies five key dimensions to great intranets: strategy, organization and governance, user-centered approach, structure/design/content, and metrics. For each dimension, it provides examples of best practices. It also outlines a user experience design approach involving research, strategy, user experience design, and delivery. The approach advocates understanding users, aligning objectives, and iterative testing to create an effective intranet.
In this webinar, Toby Ward, President and CEO of Prescient Digital Media describes our process for creating an intuitive, visually-appealing intranet design that employees will actually want to use.

SUMMARY:
Undertaking an intranet redesign can be a complicated but rewarding experience. With so many stakeholders to appease, many intranet professionals find themselves in over their heads when trying to take on projects of this size and complexity on their own.
Success at redesigning your intranet is as much about preparation and planning as it is execution. Often, the most successful intranet projects are those that involve key stakeholders from the get-go, as employees are much more likely to use something they help create. This can work wonders for long-term adoption and participation.
Having the right plan is essential to getting the end result you desire - an intuitive, visually-appealing intranet design that employees will actually want to use.
DISCUSSION TOPICS INCLUDE:
- Key considerations and best practices for every intranet redesign project (getting executive support, gathering business requirements, and establishing your strategic direction).
- What makes a great intranet design, and how do you get there?
- Strategies for getting buy-in from your colleagues.
- Lessons from some of the world's best intranet designs.
AUDIENCE:
This webinar is perfect for all internal communications professionals, including those that are considering (or are in the middle of) an intranet redesign project.

Negotiations are then conducted and plans, contracts and teams are established before implementation begins.
Yahoo has evolved its strategic partnership with India over time by shifting from a "People Offshoring" model to a "Product Offshoring" model. The People Offshoring model focused solely on cost savings but resulted in high attrition rates and a lack of accountability. The Project Offshoring model assigned some managerial functions offshore but reporting structures remained unclear. The current Product Offshoring model moves entire product teams to India, including senior leadership, allowing Yahoo to leverage local talent and execute more effectively in local markets while retaining staff. This Center of Excellence approach gives all stakeholders accountability for success.

Governance involves ensuring data is current, accurate, and used to deliver positive business outcomes while meeting legal and compliance requirements. Effective governance protects sensitive information through a combined IT and business approach. It provides competitive advantages like responsive optimization and customer insight. As data and devices become more integrated through technologies like the Internet of Things, organizations are losing patience managing multiple data sources and demand rapid, simple integration. Mobile analytics are maturing to allow on-the-road light analysis. Successful data initiatives address challenges directly, divide work into executable chunks, leverage existing assets, articulate clear value, avoid overpromising, and facilitate action and proven value.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
