Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how?
Listening and speaking skills wills be integrated in the present class
through the use of songs which encourage children to produce the
language as well as to mime it.
Materials and resources:
-Flashcards (weather).
-Flashcard: Pedro (the bus driver).
-Bus (made with boxes).
-Video: The wheels on the bus.
Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home:
A video will be used to support the presentation and exposure of the
students to the target language. This audiovisual combination will help
learners improve language acquisition and learning, as well as it will
motivate children since this group enjoys watching videos.
Seating arrangement:
Learners will be sit in a circle or they will move around the class when
miming the song. I´ll be mostly in the front of the class since I´ll try
learners to pay attention on me this time.
Assessment: what will be assessed and how:
1) I´ll assess learners´ previous knowledge of colors and some
actions.
2) I´ll check learners´ comprehension and identification of the
new vocabulary: / bʌs/, / hɔːn/, / bʌs ˈdraɪvə /, / wiːl/
3) I´ll assess learner´s pronunciation while singing the song.
Children are coming from physical education. Consequently, they´ll
ask to drink water and go to the toilet as usual.
Routine:
T: “I´ll sing the Mr. Owl song to ask children for silence to start the class.”
Lyrics: “Mr. Owl song”
Mr. Owl, Mr. Owl says sh, says sh.
Everybody silence, everybody silence like Mr. Owl who says
sh, who says sh, who says shhh.
Then, I´ll say: “Hello, how are you?”( I´ll give children time to answer and
help them if necessary. )
Ch: “Fine”. (This is how their teacher greets them.)
Next, I´ll start singing the “Hello song” to greet them. (As children don´t
know the song, I won´t wait them to sing along with me.)
Lyrics: “Hello song”
“This is the way we say hello, say hello, say hello,
This is the way we say hello, to you, and you, and
you”
(waving my hands and pointing to different
children).
Then, I´ll show them an open window with the following picture and ask:
What´s the weather like today? (As children don´t generally talk about the
weather in class, I´ll point to the pictures and ask them: “Is it cloudy?, Is it
sunny?” And I´ll encourage children to answer Yes/No (While miming
Yes/No).
Transition: Great job children! Look I have a box! I have a surprise in my
box! (While I shake the box).
(In case children start talking, I´ll sing the Mr Owl song).
Warm up:
T: “Listen! What is this? (While I shake the box and wait for children´s
answers).
T: “Ok, let´s see!”
Then, I´ll say: “Look! This is my friend Pedro! (While I show them the
following picture).
T: “Pedro is a bus driver!” (While I mime the word:” driver”), “Repeat: Bus
driver.”
T: “Hey, here is his bus!” (I´ll show them a bus prepared with boxes.)
T: “Repeat: Bus.”
Ch: “Bus.”
T: “Yes, it´s a bus!”
T: “What color is the bus?” (While I point to the bus).
Ch: “Yellow” (My bus will be yellow)
T: “Excellent!”. Hey, my bus has a horn (I´ll show them a little horn and
make it sound).
T: “Repeat: Horn! Beep, beep”. (While miming)
Ch: “Beep, beep!”
T: “Look! These are the wheels! The wheels go round and round! (While I
point to the wheels of my bus and mime the action).
I´ll show them the horn and say: “The horn on the bus goes….” (While I
wait for them make the sound).
Then, I´ll point to the wheels and say: “The wheels on the bus go….”( While
I make the mime and encourage them to do the same).
Transition: “Brilliant job children! Now, Pedro gets on the bus. Let´s watch
him! (I´ll show them the picture of Pedro)
Presentation:
If necessary I´ll sing Mr Owl song before watching the video. (Because
children probably start taking and moving while I prepare the video)
Now, let´s watch the video about Pedro´s bus! (I´ll point to the
computer/TV)
Lyrics: “The wheels on the bus”

Transition: What color is the bus? Do you like the song? (Showing thumbs
up and waiting for kids´ thumbs up)
Practice:
I´ll play the video again while I sing the song and mime, inviting children to
join in.
T: Ok, let´s watch the video again! Pay attention! (I´ll sing the song while I
mime it).
Transition: Wow! You did it perfect! Let´s sit down now. Breathe deeply and
relax. (I´ll breathe deep and invite them to do so in order to help them relax).
Then, I´ll spread flashcards inside the circle or around the classroom.
(Depending on how they are behaving.)
I´ll ask children to “point to” different cards (I´ll prepare more than one set
of cards of the same drawing.)
T: “Ok, look there are buses everywhere! (While I point to the buses spread.)
T: “Point to the yellow bus”.
Ch: (Children point/touch to the yellow bus)
T: “Great! Point to: “Two green buses.”
Ch: (Children point to the two green buses.)
T: “Brilliant! Point to one red horn”, “The horn on the bus makes beep (While
I make the sound and encourage children to make the same sound.)
T: “Now, point to three wheels”, “The wheels on the bus go round and round”
(While I make the mime and encourage children to mime, as well.)
(I´ll help children in case they do not understand which card they should
point to.)
Transition: Excellent job! Now, it´s time to say good bye.
Closure:
Bye-bye song: “If you are happy and you know it say bye-bye”
Lyrics:

  • 4. Teaching approach: -PPP. -TPR (Natural Approach) Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how? Listening and speaking skills wills be integrated in the present class through the use of songs which encourage children to produce the language as well as to mime it. Materials and resources: -Flashcards (weather). -Flashcard: Pedro (the bus driver). -Bus (made with boxes). -Video: The wheels on the bus. Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: A video will be used to support the presentation and exposure of the students to the target language. This audiovisual combination will help learners improve language acquisition and learning, as well as it will motivate children since this group enjoys watching videos. Seating arrangement: Learners will be sit in a circle or they will move around the class when miming the song. I´ll be mostly in the front of the class since I´ll try learners to pay attention on me this time. Assessment: what will be assessed and how: 1) I´ll assess learners´ previous knowledge of colors and some actions. 2) I´ll check learners´ comprehension and identification of the new vocabulary: / bʌs/, / hɔːn/, / bʌs ˈdraɪvə /, / wiːl/ 3) I´ll assess learner´s pronunciation while singing the song. Children are coming from physical education. Consequently, they´ll ask to drink water and go to the toilet as usual.
  • 5. Routine: T: “I´ll sing the Mr. Owl song to ask children for silence to start the class.” Lyrics: “Mr. Owl song” Mr. Owl, Mr. Owl says sh, says sh. Everybody silence, everybody silence like Mr. Owl who says sh, who says sh, who says shhh. Then, I´ll say: “Hello, how are you?”( I´ll give children time to answer and help them if necessary. ) Ch: “Fine”. (This is how their teacher greets them.) Next, I´ll start singing the “Hello song” to greet them. (As children don´t know the song, I won´t wait them to sing along with me.) Lyrics: “Hello song” “This is the way we say hello, say hello, say hello, This is the way we say hello, to you, and you, and you” (waving my hands and pointing to different children). Then, I´ll show them an open window with the following picture and ask: What´s the weather like today? (As children don´t generally talk about the weather in class, I´ll point to the pictures and ask them: “Is it cloudy?, Is it sunny?” And I´ll encourage children to answer Yes/No (While miming Yes/No).
  • 6. Transition: Great job children! Look I have a box! I have a surprise in my box! (While I shake the box). (In case children start talking, I´ll sing the Mr Owl song). Warm up: T: “Listen! What is this? (While I shake the box and wait for children´s answers). T: “Ok, let´s see!” Then, I´ll say: “Look! This is my friend Pedro! (While I show them the following picture). T: “Pedro is a bus driver!” (While I mime the word:” driver”), “Repeat: Bus driver.” T: “Hey, here is his bus!” (I´ll show them a bus prepared with boxes.)
  • 7. T: “Repeat: Bus.” Ch: “Bus.” T: “Yes, it´s a bus!” T: “What color is the bus?” (While I point to the bus). Ch: “Yellow” (My bus will be yellow) T: “Excellent!”. Hey, my bus has a horn (I´ll show them a little horn and make it sound). T: “Repeat: Horn! Beep, beep”. (While miming) Ch: “Beep, beep!” T: “Look! These are the wheels! The wheels go round and round! (While I point to the wheels of my bus and mime the action). I´ll show them the horn and say: “The horn on the bus goes….” (While I wait for them make the sound). Then, I´ll point to the wheels and say: “The wheels on the bus go….”( While I make the mime and encourage them to do the same). Transition: “Brilliant job children! Now, Pedro gets on the bus. Let´s watch him! (I´ll show them the picture of Pedro)
  • 8. Presentation: If necessary I´ll sing Mr Owl song before watching the video. (Because children probably start taking and moving while I prepare the video) Now, let´s watch the video about Pedro´s bus! (Showing thumbs up and waiting for kids´ thumbs up) Practice: I´ll play the video again while I sing the song and mime, inviting children to join in. T: Ok, let´s watch the video again! Pay attention! (I´ll sing the song while I mime it). Transition: Wow! You did it perfect! Let´s sit down now. Breathe deeply and relax. (I´ll breathe deep and invite them to do so in order to help them relax). Then, I´ll spread flashcards inside the circle or around the classroom. (Depending on how they are behaving.) I´ll ask children to “point to” different cards (I´ll prepare more than one set of cards of the same drawing.) T: “Ok, look there are buses everywhere! (While I point to the buses spread.)
