Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated on October 31st, where people would dress as demons and ghosts to ward off spirits. When Europeans immigrated to the United States, they brought this tradition of Halloween celebrations, which now involves wearing costumes, watching horror films, kids going trick-or-treating, and hosting parties on October 31st, the day before All Saints' Day on November 1st.
