Lesson Plan
ANALYZE THE LEARNER
 My 24 second grade class is made up of 14 girls
and 10 boys. All of the students in the class are
from lower SES homes. Several of the students
have minor learning disabilities, and many of them
are below grade level in reading.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
 My second grade students will know, with 100%
accuracy, the place value of ones through millions
by the end of one week after learning through song,
a place value game, and by representing place
values with blocks.
DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
 Monday: Students will watch and sing along with two
Youtube videos that describe place value in song.
 Tuesday: Students will take turns identifying place value
as a class.
 Wednesday: The students will work together as groups
to represent each given number correctly with blocks.
 Thursday: The students will sing along with Youtube
videos again, and work with the blocks to represent
place values.
 Friday: The class will play a game where the students
are split into teams competing to answer the most
correct questions about place value.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY
 The Youtube videos will be played using a
SmartBoard.
 The SmartBoard will be used when the students
identify place values.
 Student volunteers will use the SmartBoard
projector to show how they used the blocks to show
place value.
 A ball and trashcan will be used during the Place
Value Game.
