1. A. My second grade class is made up of 24 students; 10 boys and 14 girls. There is an
almost equal amount of black and white students. All of the students come from lower SES
backgrounds and most read below grade level. Being that the students are younger, they will
learn better through movement and participation. Before the lesson, students will participate
in a review of the different place values between the ones place and the millions place.
S. My second grade students will learn the place values of the following: ones, tens,
hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, and millions with 90% accuracy by
the end of the day due to the use ofWebQuest; students will be assessed through observation,
participation, and WebQuest rubric.
S. Students be separated into groups and each group will log-in to the assigned WebQuest
and use the provided resources to create their own place value game or recreate a game from
one of the websites provided. After the completion of the games, the class will play each game.
The students will vote on the best game; each group will evaluate their teammates on
participation.
U. This is a primarily student-centered lesson. Students will choose which kind of game they
will present to the class and work together to complete the game. The class will ultimately
decide which group made the best game.
R. Students will be required to participate in the group project as well as in the class gameplay.
E. This lesson plan will most likely require a lot of teacher help and guidance. It would be
best completed on a day where the help of a student teacher or parent volunteer is present to
assist.
