IDEA 1- the details
TITLE- The Cellar
GENRE- Horror
LENGTH- Near 10 minutes.
LOGLINE/TAGLINE- ‘He’ll get you too.’
FORM & STYLE- Handheld digital camera due to ease of use
and accessibility to the equipment. Cold atmosphere and
tension created by lighting and editing.
CHARACTERS
Protagonist- Steph
Deuteragonist- Julie
Antagonist- masked
man
Flat characters- Steph’s
colleagues
SYNOPSIS
• 19 years ago (2000). JULIE goes down into a cellar and never comes back
up.
• In the present, STEPH is at work in the evening. The cellar is padlocked
when her colleagues leave. Strange things happen which lead her to
walking around trying to figure out what it is. The audience see a photo of
some current/previous employees, including JULIE.
• STEPH sees the cellar door open and decides to go in. In the cellar she
finds JULIE who is tired, weak and slowly giving up. JULIE tells her how
she's been trapped for so long and that he won't let her get out. STEPH is
confused because she can't see anyone else down there.
• Both characters fall asleep. STEPH awakes to the antagonist hovering over
her. She asks them questions. They stab her with a needle which sends her
back to sleep.
• When she wakes again, JULIE is scared and explains that the antagonist
said they were taking her on an outing. STEPH decides it is time to escape.
• When the antagonist comes back, JULIE suddenly steps up and stabs them
with a needle and they fall to the floor. When STEPH and JULIE escape,
colleagues find them. A colleague goes down into the cellar and says
there is no one down there.
The film ends.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Fans of the horror genre.
Females due to the main characters being female.
Likely to be older teenagers and young adults.
Many conventions of the horror genre in order to appeal to the target
audience of horror genre fans.
The opening scene of my film is placed to immediately engage with the
target audience.

LOGLINE/TAGLINE- Blood isn’t always thicker.
FORM & STYLE- handheld digital camera. Warm atmosphere at
specific points through lighting and editing.
PROTAGONIST- Emily
CONFIDANTE- Harriet and Mark
FLAT CHARACTER- Steven and other female seller
DYNAMIC CHARACTER- Elise
• EMILY goes to a car boot sale. STEVEN is selling many different jewellery items and she
buys a mirrored jewellery box from him.
• Later she finds a locket necklace inside the box. There is a photo of two woman in the
locket. She finds the exact same photo in a box of family photos. On the back, the name
says 'Elise Marie Browning', her grandmother.
• Back at the car boot sale she interrogates STEVEN. He explains that he bought the
jewellery box from another car boot seller and He tells her where to find them.
• The other seller (a woman) gives her a phone number of the other woman in the photo.
She calls this number and asks about her grandmother. The woman gives her the last
known address for her grandmother.
• EMILY goes to visit her grandmother who is pleased to see her. She asks questions about
her life and EMILY tells her grandmother that she is gay. Her grandmother demands she
leaves her house. EMILY goes home to her friend and her girlfriend who cheer her up.

A young but mature audience.
The young audience are likely to have modern views.
Fans of drama genre.
There would be many conventions that would appeal
to the audience such as the realistic
storylines/characters, strong character development,
lots of social interaction and a storyline that will leave
an impression and evoke strong emotions in the
audience.

Pitch for film ideas

  • 1. PITCH FOR FILM IDEA 1 LAUREN PINE
  • 2. IDEA 1- the details TITLE- The Cellar GENRE- Horror LENGTH- Near 10 minutes. LOGLINE/TAGLINE- ‘He’ll get you too.’ FORM & STYLE- Handheld digital camera due to ease of use and accessibility to the equipment. Cold atmosphere and tension created by lighting and editing.
  • 3. CHARACTERS Protagonist- Steph Deuteragonist- Julie Antagonist- masked man Flat characters- Steph’s colleagues SYNOPSIS • 19 years ago (2000). JULIE goes down into a cellar and never comes back up. • In the present, STEPH is at work in the evening. The cellar is padlocked when her colleagues leave. Strange things happen which lead her to walking around trying to figure out what it is. The audience see a photo of some current/previous employees, including JULIE. • STEPH sees the cellar door open and decides to go in. In the cellar she finds JULIE who is tired, weak and slowly giving up. JULIE tells her how she's been trapped for so long and that he won't let her get out. STEPH is confused because she can't see anyone else down there. • Both characters fall asleep. STEPH awakes to the antagonist hovering over her. She asks them questions. They stab her with a needle which sends her back to sleep. • When she wakes again, JULIE is scared and explains that the antagonist said they were taking her on an outing. STEPH decides it is time to escape. • When the antagonist comes back, JULIE suddenly steps up and stabs them with a needle and they fall to the floor. When STEPH and JULIE escape, colleagues find them. A colleague goes down into the cellar and says there is no one down there. The film ends.

  • 6. TARGET AUDIENCE Fans of the horror genre. Females due to the main characters being female. Likely to be older teenagers and young adults. Many conventions of the horror genre in order to appeal to the target audience of horror genre fans. The opening scene of my film is placed to immediately engage with the target audience. YOUNG FEMALE (teen)YOUNG MALE (teen)OLDER FEMALE (mid 20s)

  • 8. IDEA 2- the details TITLE- Emily GENRE- Drama LENGTH- Near 10 minutes LOGLINE/TAGLINE- Blood isn’t always thicker. FORM & STYLE- handheld digital camera. Warm atmosphere at specific points through lighting and editing.
  • 9. PROTAGONIST- Emily CONFIDANTE- Harriet and Mark FLAT CHARACTER- Steven and other female seller DYNAMIC CHARACTER- Elise • EMILY goes to a car boot sale. STEVEN is selling many different jewellery items and she buys a mirrored jewellery box from him. • Later she finds a locket necklace inside the box. There is a photo of two woman in the locket. She finds the exact same photo in a box of family photos. On the back, the name says 'Elise Marie Browning', her grandmother. • Back at the car boot sale she interrogates STEVEN. He explains that he bought the jewellery box from another car boot seller and He tells her where to find them. • The other seller (a woman) gives her a phone number of the other woman in the photo. She calls this number and asks about her grandmother. The woman gives her the last known address for her grandmother. • EMILY goes to visit her grandmother who is pleased to see her. She asks questions about her life and EMILY tells her grandmother that she is gay. Her grandmother demands she leaves her house. EMILY goes home to her friend and her girlfriend who cheer her up.

  • 11. TARGET AUDIENCE A young but mature audience. The young audience are likely to have modern views. Fans of drama genre. There would be many conventions that would appeal to the audience such as the realistic storylines/characters, strong character development, lots of social interaction and a storyline that will leave an impression and evoke strong emotions in the audience.
