In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Ministers Black Veil , Mr. Hooper made a
commitment, for the rest of his earthly life, to wear a black veil. The veil, throughout
the short story, would represent secret sin. His depiction of secret sin is to show the
townspeople that nothing can be kept a secret from God. Mr. Hooper s tactic is to
use the power of fear to convince them to confess any unknown sins. Many people are
quick to judge and condemn others actions without having first hand knowledge or

Liberalist Views On Liberalism And Liberalism
Conservatives are very supportive for individuals that are in the higher class,
while liberals support the lower class individuals in society. Conservatives and
Liberals have completely different views from one another. I personally favor
liberalist views due to the fact they favor equality within our society. While
conservatives feel as though within a society everyone should be responsible for
themselves they don t believe in aid to mankind. In our society we can achieve and
do so much more if everyone as a whole worked together and cared about the
individual next to them. The world that we live in today would but much stronger,
there would be less poverty and more equality in the working class. Due to the
different views between the conservatives and the liberalist, a world of equality
will never exist. I will distinctly go over the different beliefs between the
conservatives and the liberalist of which I agree with all of the liberalist beliefs.
Liberalist feels as though the government should do more to give everyone more
equal opportunity. They believe it is the duty of the government to protect our civil
liberties, and our human and civil rights. To sum it all up, the government is to make
sure that no one is suffering and if there is, then it is the government s job to solve
the issues within the society. Conservatives on the other hand believes in free market,
personal responsibility and that it s the government s job to ensure our freedom to
chase our own goals.

vampires, have been influenced by Bram Stroker s Dracula novel. As well how
Dracula and vampires have influenced the Victorian era and gothic genre. The
process that this paper and I have gone through, was a mesmerizing one. I ve learned
so much more about vampires and why they were created in the Victorian era. As
well the impact that the original Dracula had back then and now. The difficult part
of this journey was the choosing of the prompt. I wanted to challenge myself, so I
chose prompt 3, and it gave me the challenge I was looking for. This challenge has
made such an impact on my English. It has made it stronger and more improved
than before. The feedbacks and reactions I received were positive, and there some

Delve into the world of The Time Machine, a novella written by H.G. Wells, who
was considered to be one of the more proficient science fiction writers of his time.
Readers become introduced to a man they can only call the Time Traveler and
experience a world unlike their own. In order to fully understand the novella, it
would be best to become familiar with its genre: science fiction. Science fiction
differed from the other genres, such as fantasy, due to the realism applied to it. As a
result, since it can be possible for time travel to occur and for a man to be able to
traverse to the future, Gunn s definition of science fiction could apply: Science

Filipino immigrants came to Hawaii in search of better financial opportunities. They
were recruited for new work on Hawaii plantations when the Hawaii Sugar Planters
Association began finding cheap labor. Thousands began flocking to Hawaii for a
new, glamorous job in paradise. But did the immigrants future hold prosperity and
happiness? Unfortunately, the reality of working on the plantation was not what they
expected. Work on the plantation was harsh, tedious and hot. The history of sugar
plantations was also known for riots and strikes. This was not the life Filipino
immigrants were expecting.

popular fashion brands that we buy from all recieve clothes that are made in

A forward genetics screen occurs when one starts by determining a biological process
of interest, produces a mutagenized population, screens for phenotype of interest,
analysis a mutant with a specific phenotype, maps the gene of interest, and conducts

My search strategy for the scientific literature started with PubMed. I input the
following phrase into the search bar: Dental complications from kidney transplants .
100 articles were gathered as potential scientific literatures that could be used for my
specific learning issue. In finding articles that provided general dental and health
complications, the task offered a manageable list of scientific articles to sift through.
For the next time, I would like to focus on specific dental/health complications from
kidney transplants and how it could affect patients in such ways instead of in a
general systemic manner.
The first selected article, The status of dental and jaw bones in children and
adolescents after kidney and liver transplantation , focuses on the main systemic
complications patients may encounter after renal transplantation within the oral

Child labour is defined as children who provide work and as a result of this, can
possibly affect their mental and physical health. As well as this, if the work
interferes with their education or removes the option to go to school; it is classed
as child labour (International Labour Organization 2017). The International labour
office (2012) estimates that 168 million children in the world are experiencing a
form of child labour and more than half of them are in work that has a direct
impact on their health. In this literature review, I investigate the effects of
businesses using child labour and two sides to why child labour can be seen as good

In the early years of the 20th century, Thomas Edison s monopoly in film was being
constantly challenged. Amid various patent and copyright infringement lawsuits,
Edison sought to preserve his monopoly by setting up exclusive organizations to cut
out his competition. As film transitioned from a technological novelty to a form of
art, Edison s insistence on protecting his patents diverted his attention from a film
industry that was rapidly focusing on artistic value, leading directly to his relegation
from the film industry.

Dickson had introduced the Mutoscope and Biograph to rival Edison s Kinetoscope
and Kinetograph. Siegmund Lubin founded the Lubin Manufacturing Company with
his camera/projector combination, the Cineograph. Other rival companies included
Selig Polyscope Company and the American Vitagraph Company. The competition
was focused around the filming equipment since it was the primary source of
revenue. In 1898, Edison file a suit against Dickson s American Mutoscope Company
for patent infringement on the Kinetograph. A court ruling in 1901 confirmed the
patent infringement that was overturned after an appeal from Dickson in 1902. This
reversal ended Edison s monopoly on the motion picture camera. Edison also fought
numerous copyright battle with Lubin. Up until then, Edison had been copyrighting
his films as photographs and submitting paper prints to the Library of Congress.
Motion pictures were not recognized under the Copyright Act until the Townsend
Amendment of 1912. This was the premise Lubin used to dupe Edison s films. This
case set a legal precedent declaring film to be a new form of photography. However,
the duping did not stop here. With increasing legal expenses and the courts inability
to standardize the market, Edison sought out to do it himself leading to the formation
