1. • The Mt. Iriga Agta also known as
Inagta Rinconada.
• The Rinconada Agta live primarily
in forests near rural barangays of
Buhi, Iriga (including a settlement
in the Ilian area), and Baao in
Camarines Sur
• The tribe is also know on the
endangered list,although there still
substantial members remaining
unlike neighbor East of Lake Buhi
the MT.Iraya Agta.
2. • They are characterized by being short,stocky with thick lips, flat nosed, black curly hair and black
complexion.
• There traditional clothing is tapis(skirt)
for woman and bahag(breech cloth) for
men.
• But today, most Agtas have
abandoned their tribal attire for
civilized clothes.
3. PRACTICES:
The Agta people have a rich cultural
heritage, and their practices include
rituals, dances, and a depiction of hunting
movements. They worship the spirits of
their ancestors, known as Anitos. Unlike
some other indigenous groups, the Agtas
do not have formal leaders; instead, older
males in their community serve as
consultants for arbitration purposes
4. TOOLS:
GALUD
SUMBILING It is used in hunting fish which is
made of wood,rubber, and
sharp or pointed metal.
Hunting is their main means of subsistence.
They use pointed thick sticks called galud to kill
wild pigs or other wild animals.
5. SUBSTRIBES:
AGTA-TABANGNON
The Agta- Tabangon tribe in Coyao-yao,
Tigaon, Camarines Sur is a community of
indigenous people who had abandoned
their former nomadic way of life and
opted to settle in a permanent location.
Slowly they are embracing the modern
way of life, new farming techniques and
new livelihood opportunities.
AGTA-CIMARON
They are the offspring of the
nomadic Agta in Bicol Region who
intermarried foreigners. They are
the improved version of the parent
Agta in terms of facial and physical
features of foreign lineage, mostly
Spanish or another foreign
bloodline.
A sub-tribe is a smaller group of people who live together
and share a culture, language, or other common
characteristics.
6. TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN IRIGA CITY:
1. OYANGO TRIBE
They reside at Sta. Teresita, Iriga City. Oyango is the name of an upland area in Asog
where the Agta families used to live before transferring to the resettlement site in
2001.
The Agta families in Sta. Teresita live in 44 wooden houses and are among the 11,078
Agta villagers who have occupied the slopes of Asog that the National Commission on
Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) registered in 1987.
As classified by the government agency, they are called the Agta-Tabangnon,
decendants of pure Agta who married non-Agta lowlanders.
