this is the project report of formulation and development of fracture healong plaster from cissus quadrangularis. In this we have find the frcature healing capacity of CIssus quadrangularis in animal model. Cissus quadrangularis is rich of calcium and minerals that also helps is fracture healing of bone. “Formulation and Development of Healing plasters from the extract of Cissus quadrangularis” OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT i. To develop a healing plaster of Herbal origin.ii. To reduce the time engaged in healing of fracture.iii. To minimize the side effect of current practice to treat bone fracture.iv. To enhance the haling process. Outcome: i) We have perfectly developed the healing plaster containing Cissus quadrangularis extract. ii) Fracture healing time has been reduced from 30 days to near about 20 days.iii) We are using a little amount of analgesics by which side effects reduced automatically.iv) Healing plaster containing active herbal constituents of Cissus quadrangularis, which diffuse transdermally to the affected area. By which drug directly reaches to systemic circulation and helps to increase the healing of fractured bone. HPMC 100M, ERL100, PVPK30, HPMCK4M, ERS100 ii) Plasticizer: Can provide elasticity to the herbal plaster. n Di-butyl phthalate (n-DBH) iii) Permeation Enhancer: increase the permeation of active plant extract to the skin. Di-methyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) achivements The herbal plaster containing ethanolic extract of Cissus quadrangularis shows the fast and good healing capacity in In-vivo rat model for Fracture healing activity in comparison to the animal which is simply treated with Gypsum cast. In the present investigation, the radiographic evidence of early periosteal reaction and bony dissolution in the treated group indicates a faster healing process. The level of serum calcium was declined in all the groups at 11th day of fracture were earlier reported, However, the decline was still higher in the treated group. A low level of serum calcium in the early stages of fracture healing was already reported. Further, the calcium of callus was stated to be derived from the

5. ACHIEVEMENTS FROM THE PROJECT:
• The herbal plaster containing ethanolic extract of Cissus quadrangularis shows
the fast and good healing capacity in In-vivo rat model for Fracture healing
activity in comparison to the animal which is simply treated with Gypsum cast.
• In the present investigation, the radiographic evidence of early periosteal reaction

• Further, the calcium of callus was stated to be derived from the serum calcium.
• The decrease in the level of serum calcium to a greater extent in the treated group
may be due to faster healing process with more mobilization of calcium in the
formation of callus.
• An increase in the osteoblastic activity in CQ treated animal during fracture
repair was also reported by Udupa and Prasad.

6. Commercialization Aspect
• Benefits to Industry: This research will open the new product for market dealing
with orthopedic need of the RMP (Fracture and Joint specialist)
• Benefits to Society: Patient suffering with fracture may treated fast with the help
of medicated plaster that support the fractured area as well as support in callus
formation and bone regeneration.
• Development of Products: Herbal fracture healing plaster
• Potential of Commercialization: This research has a great potential of
commercialization because it will help in the treatment of fractured patient with
reduced time in comparison to the simple POP cast.
• It will also helpful in reducing side effects of antibiotics and other supportive
medication.
• Our study comes in the category of Transdermal drug delivery system. Which is
best preferable route for hepatic by- pass. By this active medicament directly
reaches to systemic circulation and release the medicament continuously for a
prolong period of time. So this will also have ample scope of commercialization.
