 This competition is going to start any minute from now. All contestants and guests are
invited to come inside the hall and take your seats. Thank you.
 A very good morning to all of you.
 On behalf of the organising committee we are pleased to welcome you to the 2015
Petronas MLNG Bintulu Regional Choral Speaking Competition for Primary and
Secondary .
 Ladies and gentlemen, as you know, all the schools, teachers and students in Bintulu
are quite busy with various activities and competitions in these few weeks. So, this is
the least that we could do as preparation for this competition. We would like to
apologize in advance for any shortcomings and inconveniences encountered during
this competition.
 For your information this competition is sponsored by PETRONAS MLNG Bintulu.
Thank you very much to MLNG Bintulu.
 This competition is a joint effort between the Curricullum Unit of Bintulu District
Education Department and SMK Kidurong, Bintulu. As such teachers from other
schools in Bintulu as well as staffs from MLNG Bintulu are also helping out in this
event. So, on behalf of the organising committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt
gratitude to MLNG for sponsoring this event and also to all the teachers and the MLNG
staffs for helping out in this competition.
 Ladies and gentlemen, for your information, altogether, there are 29 schools taking part
in this competition, 20 of these are primary schools while 9 are secondary schools. The
following primary schools are taking part in this year’s competition :

 Ladies and gentlemen,
 Without wasting any more time, now, I would like to invite the honourable judges and
the time keeper to take their seats. (allow 3 minutes for movement).
 Allow me to introduce to all of you the 8 judges for today’s competition. I would like to
apologize in advance if I happen to pronounce your names wrongly.
 The Chief Judge for this competition is Mr Adam Prakash Abdullah.

 All the judges’ decision are final and individual marks will not be disclosed.

 To make sure that this competition will flow smoothly allow me to read to you the
competition rules:
 This competition is divided into 2 categories which are primary school and secondary
school.
 This competition is open to pupils of government-aided schools from Year 4 to Year 6
only.
 Year 3 students are allowed to participate if they are from under-enrolled schools.
 Each choral speaking team comprises of members from the same school.
 For primary school category, each team is given a presentation time limit of 5 to 8
minutes. Marks will be deducted thereafter.
 For the secondary school category, each team is given a presentation time limit of 8 to
10 minutes. Marks will be deducted thereafter.
 Each team should comprise 30 to 35 pupils or students. A conductor should be
appointed amongst these pupils or students.
 Each team should be accompanied by 4 teachers –in-charge.
 Selection of texts may be in form of poetry or short prose. Texts should preferably be
original and authentic.
 Adapted texts including those from previous years should be acknowledged by citing
the source.
 Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or printed materials during the
presentation.
 Materials presented must not touch on sensitive issues, such as race, religion
stereotyping, politics and etc.
 Copies of choral speaking texts must be submitted to the organisers two weeks prior to
the competition.
 All participations should be in school uniform when competing.
 The conductor may use gloves.
 There should be no inclusion of music, drama, costume, props or artificial sound effect.
 Any inclusion of singing, skit or physical movement should enhance and not dominate
the presentation.
 The arrangement of the teams on the stage will be in fixed 3 tiered rows.

 This Bintulu Regional Level competition will be judged by 8 judges.
 The best conductor should be judged by a separate panel of 3 judges.
 The judges are appointed by the Division of Co-Curricullum and Arts , Ministry of
Education.
 Points will be awarded according to the scoresheet.
 Judges will collectively determine the placing by clear majority vote.
 The decision of the judges is final.
 Individual team marks will not be disclosed.
 Plaques and certificates will be awarded to the winning teams.
 Certificate of participation will be awarded to all participating teams.

during the closing ceremony at 2.30pm later.

 Ladies and gentlemen, before we announce the results,
 we would like to invite the Bintulu District Education Officer
________________________ to come up to the stage accompanied by the Principal of
SMK Kidurong and representatives from the organising committees to hand over the
prizes to the winners of today’s competition.
 Before that, we would like to acknowledge the important roles played by the judges
today. They have adjudicated with much wisdom in order to pick the winners for
today’s competition. The organising committee would like to give away some souvenirs
to show our appreciation to the honourable judges.
 Please give a round of applause to our first judge Mr Adam Prakash Abdullah who
acts as the chief judge for today’s competition. Next, I would like to invite

Prepared by Madam Jessie U.Uchat/SMK Kidurong/Petronas MLNG Choral Speaking 2015 2015 PETRONAS MLNG BINTULU REGIONAL LEVEL CHORAL SPEAKING COMPETITION FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS [Emcee’s Preparation] TENTATIVE MC SCRIPT 7.45 Am  This competition is going to start any minute from now. All contestants and guests are invited to come inside the hall and take your seats. Thank you.  A very good morning to all of you.  On behalf of the organising committee we are pleased to welcome you to the 2015 Petronas MLNG Bintulu Regional Choral Speaking Competition for Primary and Secondary .  Ladies and gentlemen, as you know, all the schools, teachers and students in Bintulu are quite busy with various activities and competitions in these few weeks. So, this is the least that we could do as preparation for this competition. We would like to apologize in advance for any shortcomings and inconveniences encountered during this competition.  For your information this competition is sponsored by PETRONAS MLNG Bintulu. Thank you very much to MLNG Bintulu.  This competition is a joint effort between the Curricullum Unit of Bintulu District Education Department and SMK Kidurong, Bintulu. As such teachers from other schools in Bintulu as well as staffs from MLNG Bintulu are also helping out in this event. So, on behalf of the organising committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to MLNG for sponsoring this event and also to all the teachers and the MLNG staffs for helping out in this competition.  Ladies and gentlemen, for your information, altogether, there are 29 schools taking part in this competition, 20 of these are primary schools while 9 are secondary schools. (allow 3 minutes for movement).  Allow me to introduce to all of you the 8 judges for today’s competition. I would like to apologize in advance if I happen to pronounce your names wrongly.  The Chief Judge for this competition is Mr Adam Prakash Abdullah.  The second judge is ______________________________________________  The next judge is ________________________________________________  The fourth judge is ______________________________________________  The fifth judge is ________________________________________________  Judge number 6 is ______________________________________________  Judge number 7 is ______________________________________________  Last but not least is judge number 8 who is ________________________  All the judges’ decision are final and individual marks will not be disclosed.  The timekeeper for this competition is ______________________________  To make sure that this competition will flow smoothly allow me to read to you the competition rules:  This competition is divided into 2 categories which are primary school and secondary school.  This competition is open to pupils of government-aided schools from Year 4 to Year 6 only.  Year 3 students are allowed to participate if they are from under-enrolled schools.  Each choral speaking team comprises of members from the same school.  For primary school category, each team is given a presentation time limit of 5 to 8 minutes. Marks will be deducted thereafter.  For the secondary school category, each team is given a presentation time limit of 8 to 10 minutes. Marks will be deducted thereafter.  Each team should comprise 30 to 35 pupils or students. A conductor should be appointed amongst these pupils or students.  Each team should be accompanied by 4 teachers –in-charge.  Selection of texts may be in form of poetry or short prose. Texts should preferably be original and authentic.  Adapted texts including those from previous years should be acknowledged by citing the source.  Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or printed materials during the presentation.  Materials presented must not touch on sensitive issues, such as race, religion stereotyping, politics and etc.  Copies of choral speaking texts must be submitted to the organisers two weeks prior to the competition.  All participations should be in school uniform when competing.  The conductor may use gloves.  There should be no inclusion of music, drama, costume, props or artificial sound effect.  Any inclusion of singing, skit or physical movement should enhance and not dominate the presentation.  The arrangement of the teams on the stage will be in fixed 3 tiered rows.
