1. A GROUP SHARING for June 17 or 24th
Eco kids monthly meeting
Listen to the dialogue between Manu and his mother
(Animators Note: you can divided the kids in 2 or 3 groups (about 6/7 kids in each). The following
dialogue can be read, after which questions for sharing are given. Encourage all kids to answer. After
the questions/answers, you can summarise the discussion with your own points. Few points for input
are given at the bottom just to help you.)
A dialogue between mother and son [2 kids can act out/read, clearly and loudly)
Manu: Mom, I want to join the Eco Kids Club ofour area. Can you give
me permission?
Mom: Beta, joining eco kids is notso important. First, you study well
and getgood marks. Ifyou do well in studies, you can go to college,
then, you can getgood job and earn a lotof money. Only then you can
live a happy life.
Manu: Mom, if I have to live a happy life, I need clean air, clean water,
clean food, green and pollution free surroundings etc. Buttoday, our
earth has become so bad and polluted. How can I live a
happy life in such polluted earth? Therefore, by joining the eco clubs Ican work for a clean,green and pollution
free earth.
Mom: Manu, working for the clean, green and pollution free earth is not your job. That is the work ofthe
municipality and govt. Why should you do that work?
Manu: Mom, but as a citizen ofthis country, and a residentofthis Mother Earth, I have also a responsibility to
work to make my planetearth a better place to live in. Only govtcannot do this. Good citizens like us musthelp
the govt.
Mom: yes beta, now Iunderstood the reason why you want to join the ECO KIDS. Surely you can join.
QUESTIONS FOR SHARING
(Note: Animators, try to get maximum information from the members, after which conclusion can be
given in your own simple words)
1. Do you agree with Manu that, if we have to live happy life we need clean and green earth? Yes/no. Give
reasons.
2. Do you agree with Manu’s mom, that working for clean and green earth is the job ofgovtalone?
3. How can you join with govtin making our earth a better cleaner and greener place.Give examples.
4. Why do you want to join the ECO KIDS CLUB?
Animators give brief conclusion in your own words:
1] If we want to live a happy and healthy life we need clean water, food, air etc. otherwise we will live
a sickly and unhealthy life. All our money will be spent for medicines and doctors.
2] Manu’s mom is not right. Govt alone cannot keep the earth clean. We all need to support and join
hands with the govt. (give some examples like of segregation of waste etc..)
3] We need to help the govt in various ways like zero garbage project, planting trees, not throwing the
garbage on the roads etc. etc.. add more examples.

2. 2] PREPARE ECO KIDS FOR ELOCUTION CONTEST 2018
Date: 8th OR 15th July in your areas itself
ANIMATORS NOTE AND EXPLAIN TO KIDS:
1. Encourage all, or as many kids to participate in this contest. Ask them to come prepared.. Tell
them that there will be prizes for toppers and all participants. Also see special offer below. 20
project points for more than 10 kids participation.
2. The participants can take any topic on environment for their speech. Plenty of topics are
available in our parish website GEM PPT section. Kids are also free to take topics from any
other online/offline sources.
3. The speech will be about 2 to 3 minutes. Language could be English, Hindi and Marathi.
4. Just reading the speech from a written paper is not considered a good speech and may get less
points. Participants can easily remember or by heart the speech as it is just 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Just to help kids, you may explain these simple clues of a good speech (which also helps to
remember better):
a] Starter - begin the speech with some incident, fact, example, self-disclosure/experience,
story etc.
b] Main body: Present the main content of the speech point wise - points 1, 2, 3 etc.
c] Conclusion: conclude with something to provoke thinking, reflection and action in the
listeners.
Presentation of speech few clues: eye contact, (don’t look at the fans, wall etc. look at
audience), physical gestures, facial expressions, voice/clarity etc.
With these few clues, kids can easily prepare a speech of 2/3 minutes.
6. The SCC level Elocution contest will be considered as an ECO KIDS project and will get 20
points, provided minimum 10 kids participate (refer the feedback form attached).
7. To judge the contest you can appoint some suitable persons. It is a good opportunity to
network with people of other faiths. (sample judges sheet is attached).
8. Like every year, animators will arrange prizes for the toppers and token prizes for all those
kids who participated. (see also SPECIAL OFFER).
9. As some of the ECO KIDS CLUBS find it difficult to bring kids to parish level gatherings, this
year, we will have only two parish level gatherings – DIWALI MELAVA in Oct/Nov. and
ECO KIDS rally in March, first Sunday. The trophy and prizes for the toppers and other prizes
for the first term and second term will be given during these programmes respectively.
If you video record the best speeches (after the
results), and send me the videos, I can post these
videos in the gem facebbook/whatsapp groups
for public awareness. The videos chosen to
publish in the GEM groups will get a cash prize
of Rs 200/- and a GEM certificate (This is a
SPECIAL OFFER only for the best speeches and
good quality video recording!!).
