CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
KCS (division of Commercial Services)
• Developing and implementing divisional procurement strategies and plans to leverage the business market position
• Delivery of targeted savings and other commercial outcomes along with performance improvement benefits
• Delivery of income revenue of £800k generated from suppliers in our sales collateral materials
• Member of SMT responsible for the gross profit margin and pricing strategy of the business
• Developing and implementing an SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) process which improved supplier terms and trading relationships
• Ensuring the life cycle supply chain is sound
• Managing all product/catalogue data for printed and web based sales route collaterals
• Offering product training to sales force as well as day-to-day product/supplier expertise from within the categories
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
• Managing all tender activity across the business in the UK (with planned global roll out) including the biggest tender in CIMA history worth over
£10m pa for 10 years
• Devising and owning a CIMA procurement policy – gaining acceptance at Senior Management Team (SMT) level and rolling out across the
business
• Owning the procurement processes and managing performance/compliance
• Developing template contracts to streamline the contractual relationships with key suppliers ensuring CIMA is protected and thereby reducing
risks as well as the legal spend
• Developing - for the first time at CIMA - an agreed savings protocol plan working closely with finance to monitor savings
• Reviewing all current ways of working and developing improvements, ie spend analysis requirements; adding new suppliers onto the system;
coding of suppliers in system and key account management structures
• Preparing a global procurement strategy specific for CIMA’s regional offices (roll out to commence by end of 2013)
BMI Healthcare
• Achieving annual targets of £8m (first year within 10 months @ £8.27m and second full year @ £8.07m).
• Direct influence on £100m clinical spend.
• Designing and implementing a procurement strategy and Ways of Working process (WoW)
• Heading up a projects such as; strategic project within Ortho (hip and knee) relating to over £17m of spend working with key stakeholders and
suppliers to show savings/benefits of over £1m (over 2 year contracts)
• Introduction of an automated Supplier Relationship Management system (SiM) to ensure full procurement due diligence including credit checks
etc and efficiencies in supplier management in general including but not exclusively activating umbrella agreements across multiple product
areas.
National Skills Academy
• Identified and implemented business process and strategies to enhance product offering during the initial pilot phase of the of the National Skills
Academy for IT
• Sourced, reviewed and procured a £5m e-learning system, with implementation in July for the pilot in readiness for the ‘Go Live’ launch
scheduled in Autumn / Winter 2010
Lifelong Learning UK
• Reviewed the existing procurement function against organisational strategy to identify risks and recommend changes and improvements to
promote industry best practice
• Developed new procurement procedures to incorporate changes in financial regulations
Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust
• Developed a first ever Trust wide procurement strategy, preparing a successful business case approved by Board to redefine processes and
introduce a procurement framework
• Developed, wrote and delivered a Trust wide ‘How To Guide’ to inform 4500 Trust staff on the new procurement strategy to increase
compliance target from 6% to 94%
• Developed a single contract management system to ensure the Trust was protected in all contractual dealings, the first time a system of this
magnitude was agreed
• Ensured OJEU/EU regulations were followed, and allowed monitoring of supplier/supply chain effectiveness
• Successfully met agreed savings targets – 1st year £600K, 2nd year £1m, 3rd year £1.2m
VisitBritain
• Managed procurement in UK, Europe and Middle East, covering distribution and fulfilment services for 5000 tons of print in 16 languages for delivery to meet
36 country specific marketing plans
• Managed all procurement (OJEU) tenders across all business units following DCMS and VisitBritain guidelines, creating and managing supplier
contracts in the UK and overseas
• Developed business relationships to secure the printing business of Jersey, Guernsey & Scotland for the first time in the history of VisitBritain
CAREER HISTORY:
Jun 2015 to Present: HEAD OF PROCUREMENT: KCS
• Management of a team of category specific managers, buyers and related staff covering spends of £60m
• Responsible for delivery of £750k of revenue generated from supplier negotiation and contractual arrangement/terms FY 14-15 £776k achieved
• Responsible for delivery of savings and rebate targets of £100k in FY 14-15 and achieving £350k
• Owning the product specific information ensuring accuracy across all business tools
• As part of SMT agreeing and developing sales strategies and linking them to procurement activity to improve market position
• Creating solutions to improve the performance of the team, such as employing junior buyers and training and coaching them as Category Manager,
Furniture to help with talent creation and general team succession planning
• Flexibility to create and implement business fixes that will increase the customer experience and allow the business to provide all the products
required
Jan 2013 to June 2015: PROCUREMENT MANAGER: CIMA
• Management of all tender activity within CIMA (UK) covering spends of over £25k
• Management of the procurement policy and processes across CIMA to ensure that the best commercial solution for each project is achieved for
spends of £5k and above
• Managing all supplier for CIMA ensuring relevant protections are in place plus the best commercial deal is achieved maximising savings potential
• Responsible for identifying areas of savings and currently savings achieved to date are £90k
• Owning a spend analysis tool to identify supplier rationalisation as well as savings opportunities
• Devising, owning and managing a supplier tender scoring mechanism to assist in identifying the best supplier solution to any project
• Working closely with Department Heads to ensure that procurement best practice is achieved and that all staff are aware and adhere to the
procurement processes
• Working with regional colleagues on contractual arrangements and procurement best practice and advise on commercially viable outcomes
• Managing and owning the procurement risks within the CIMA register
• Planned: Roll out of a global procurement strategy aligned to each regions specific requirements
• Planned: Roll out of contract templates to assist regions in their supplier negotiations and contractual arrangements
Oct 2010 to Nov 2012: HEAD OF CLINICAL PROCUREMENT: BMI Healthcare
• Responsible for a team of Category managers, buyers, data analyst and junior buyers across the full clinical spend of £150m
• Targets set for savings for year 1 - £8m and year 2 - £8m - met and over achieved set targets
• Management of the catalogue team with over 100,000 products ensuring that best practice is used at the multiple sited business whereby corporate
contracts are enforced (declining non corporate requisitions). Introducing categorisation strategy to improve the system and procurement
efficiencies.
• Member of the senior board within procurement designing and implementing the procurement policy, ways of working and best practice across the
business working with 70 remote hospitals across the UK to drive compliance
• Implemented a Relationship Management programme with all key suppliers (over £100k spend) to ensure that procurement had a joined up
approach in supplier management (SRM)
Feb 2010 to Oct 2010: PROCUREMENT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER: National Skills Academy for IT
• Responsible for developing business to training providers, vendors and employers
• Introduced business process & strategies to enhance product offering during pilot phase
• Sourced, procured & implemented a £5m e-learning system for Go Live launch at year end
Oct 2009 to Feb 2010: HEAD OF PROCUREMENT: Lifelong Learning UK
• Responsible for aligning the current procurement function with organisational strategy
• Identified risks, recommended and implemented changes to promote industry best practice
• Developed new procurement procedures with changes to align with new financial regulations
• Visited LLUK office UK wide to implement a single procurement across the organisation
• Ensured country specific legislation was written into the procurement strategy

Sep 2006 to Oct 2009: HEAD OF PROCUREMENT: Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust
• Responsible for developing the first ever Trust wide procurement strategy for Board approval
• Managed a personal procurement budget of £5m with influence on £77m non-pay spend
• Attended Board meetings to report on procurement process, success & current position and agreed changes to SFIs (Standing Financial
Instructions) to meet industry standards
• Developed supplier protocols to align with security strategy and increase compliance
• Developed Trust wide ‘How To Guide’ for staff to increase compliance from 9% to 92%
• Worked with Directors & Senior Managers to identify potential savings or cost avoidance. Assessed financial position of Trust departments to
enable them to build in savings
• Provided Trust representation at the Procurement Hub, a multi Trust government initiative
• Developed a new staffing structure to provide a more efficient procurement service as well as introducing a contract management system to
provide protection in contractual dealings, including tenders, negotiations
• Agreed a business case for new procurement system and achieve a paperless office. Researched, sourced and procured a new ‘Purchase to
Pay’ P2P, procurement system, first Trust in South East to achieve this
• Sat on PFI team regarding the first hospital in the country with 100% single occupancy
• Increased the Materials Management function by 35% to 90% and integrated the ‘goods-in’ function to complete the procurement cycle and
eradicate delays

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: KCS (division of Commercial Services) • Developing and implementing divisional procurement strategies and plans to leverage the business market position • Delivery of targeted savings and other commercial outcomes along with performance improvement benefits • Delivery of income revenue of £800k generated from suppliers in our sales collateral materials • Member of SMT responsible for the gross profit margin and pricing strategy of the business • Developing and implementing an SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) process which improved supplier terms and trading relationships • Ensuring the life cycle supply chain is sound • Managing all product/catalogue data for printed and web based sales route collaterals • Offering product training to sales force as well as day-to-day product/supplier expertise from within the categories CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) • Managing all tender activity across the business in the UK (with planned global roll out) including the biggest tender in CIMA history worth over £10m pa for 10 years • Devising and owning a CIMA procurement policy – gaining acceptance at Senior Management Team (SMT) level and rolling out across the business • Owning the procurement processes and managing performance/compliance • Developing template contracts to streamline the contractual relationships with key suppliers ensuring CIMA is protected and thereby reducing risks as well as the legal spend • Developing - for the first time at CIMA - an agreed savings protocol plan working closely with finance to monitor savings • Reviewing all current ways of working and developing improvements, ie spend analysis requirements; adding new suppliers onto the system; coding of suppliers in system and key account management structures • Preparing a global procurement strategy specific for CIMA’s regional offices (roll out to commence by end of 2013) BMI Healthcare • Achieving annual targets of £8m (first year within 10 months @ £8.27m and second full year @ £8.07m). • Direct influence on £100m clinical spend. • Designing and implementing a procurement strategy and Ways of Working process (WoW) • Heading up a projects such as; strategic project within Ortho (hip and knee) relating to over £17m of spend working with key stakeholders and suppliers to show savings/benefits of over £1m (over 2 year contracts) • Introduction of an automated Supplier Relationship Management system (SiM) to ensure full procurement due diligence including credit checks etc and efficiencies in supplier management in general including but not exclusively activating umbrella agreements across multiple product areas. National Skills Academy • Identified and implemented business process and strategies to enhance product offering during the initial pilot phase of the of the National Skills Academy for IT • Sourced, reviewed and procured a £5m e-learning system, with implementation in July for the pilot in readiness for the ‘Go Live’ launch scheduled in Autumn / Winter 2010

Lifelong Learning UK • Reviewed the existing procurement function against organisational strategy to identify risks and recommend changes and improvements to promote industry best practice • Developed new procurement procedures to incorporate changes in financial regulations Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust • Developed a first ever Trust wide procurement strategy, preparing a successful business case approved by Board to redefine processes and introduce a procurement framework • Developed, wrote and delivered a Trust wide ‘How To Guide’ to inform 4500 Trust staff on the new procurement strategy to increase compliance target from 6% to 94% • Developed a single contract management system to ensure the Trust was protected in all contractual dealings, the first time a system of this magnitude was agreed • Ensured OJEU/EU regulations were followed, and allowed monitoring of supplier/supply chain effectiveness • Successfully met agreed savings targets – 1st year £600K, 2nd year £1m, 3rd year £1.2m VisitBritain • Managed procurement in UK, Europe and Middle East, covering distribution and fulfilment services for 5000 tons of print in 16 languages for delivery to meet 36 country specific marketing plans • Managed all procurement (OJEU) tenders across all business units following DCMS and VisitBritain guidelines, creating and managing supplier contracts in the UK and overseas • Developed business relationships to secure the printing business of Jersey, Guernsey & Scotland for the first time in the history of VisitBritain CAREER HISTORY: Jun 2015 to Present: HEAD OF PROCUREMENT: KCS • Management of a team of category specific managers, buyers and related staff covering spends of £60m • Responsible for delivery of £750k of revenue generated from supplier negotiation and contractual arrangement/terms FY 14-15 £776k achieved • Responsible for delivery of savings and rebate targets of £100k in FY 14-15 and achieving £350k • Owning the product specific information ensuring accuracy across all business tools • As part of SMT agreeing and developing sales strategies and linking them to procurement activity to improve market position • Creating solutions to improve the performance of the team, such as employing junior buyers and training and coaching them as Category Manager, Furniture to help with talent creation and general team succession planning • Flexibility to create and implement business fixes that will increase the customer experience and allow the business to provide all the products required Jan 2013 to June 2015: PROCUREMENT MANAGER: CIMA • Management of all tender activity within CIMA (UK) covering spends of over £25k • Management of the procurement policy and processes across CIMA to ensure that the best commercial solution for each project is achieved for spends of £5k and above • Managing all supplier for CIMA ensuring relevant protections are in place plus the best commercial deal is achieved maximising savings potential • Responsible for identifying areas of savings and currently savings achieved to date are £90k • Owning a spend analysis tool to identify supplier rationalisation as well as savings opportunities • Devising, owning and managing a supplier tender scoring mechanism to assist in identifying the best supplier solution to any project • Working closely with Department Heads to ensure that procurement best practice is achieved and that all staff are aware and adhere to the procurement processes • Working with regional colleagues on contractual arrangements and procurement best practice and advise on commercially viable outcomes • Managing and owning the procurement risks within the CIMA register • Planned: Roll out of a global procurement strategy aligned to each regions specific requirements • Planned: Roll out of contract templates to assist regions in their supplier negotiations and contractual arrangements Oct 2010 to Nov 2012: HEAD OF CLINICAL PROCUREMENT: BMI Healthcare • Responsible for a team of Category managers, buyers, data analyst and junior buyers across the full clinical spend of £150m • Targets set for savings for year 1 - £8m and year 2 - £8m - met and over achieved set targets • Management of the catalogue team with over 100,000 products ensuring that best practice is used at the multiple sited business whereby corporate contracts are enforced (declining non corporate requisitions).
