The Statement Of Purpose Of The Bean Plant Experiment
Statement of Purpose
For my independent project I performed the Bean Plant Experiment. I originally wanted to know
whether artificial light worked as well as or better than natural light for growing a bean plant. I was
asking this question because I believe that natural light works better to help a plant grow taller than
artificial light does. Since I believed that natural light works better overall, by doing the Bean Plant
Experiment I could determine the answer to my question.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis that is looking to be proved, if a bean plant is exposed to eight hours of natural light
per day, then it s rate of growth will be higher than a bean plant exposed to eight hours of artificial
sunlight per day.
Background
Before beginning the Bean Plant Experiment I had to gather many different materials to be able to
carry it out. I had to obtain six of the same kind and relatively the same size, of bean seeds as well as
two, small, four inch clay pots. I also used the graduated cylinder that was in the lab kit that I
purchased at the beginning of the year for this class. I also had to get soil. For my soil I chose Miracle
Gro potting soil because that is what my mom uses for her flowers. Another item that I needed was a
ruler with millimeters on it so I could measure the height of each plant everyday. The last thing on my
list of materials was a piece of graph paper and a pencil.
Next I had to set up my work space to provide myself with the most accurate results. I cleared off a
window seal in my house that sets on the south side of my house where the sun would best hit the
plant. I then cleared out a spot in my brothers closet for the second plant, which would work better
than mine would have considering he never goes in his closet. Something else that probably wasn t
necessary but helped in the long run was I set out all of my equipment so it wouldn t be such a hassle
and I wouldn t have to worry about not being able to find everything.
Experimental Method
To begin my experiment I first took the two four inch clay pots and put two scoops of Miracle Gro soil
into both of the pots. Then I gathered the six bean seeds of relatively the same size and I put three
seeds in each of the pots. I placed each to

A Study Abroad In Peru-Ecuador
Kim Carlson, a representative for the Leadership Center at Virginia Tech posted a flyer advertising for
a Study Abroad in Peru Ecuador. Through eye catching imagery, and telling you that this could be you,
they appeal to the target reader. The effectiveness of the flyer can be attributed to giving enough
intriguing information that the reader wants to know more, but it also doesn t give you the complete
picture leading the reader to the information sessions.
Every day we walk past advertisements that are thrown at you in such abundance that you often ignore
them. Only a spark catches the eye of the viewer. In that spark, they may have sold you on their
product or event; others may become curious; some not intrigued at all. I found myself asking ... Show

Individualism In Frankenstein
fact that the monster is superior and be with him. This idea leads into the fact that the women in the
novel are supposed to be indebted to the men. This is demonstrated by Justine s confession to the
murder of William, which she did not commit. The Frankensteins adopted Justine, which kept her
from starving on the streets. Based upon her adoption, Justine felt an indebtedness to the family,
specifically the men (they provide for the family), and this debt drove her to confess to murder. Her
adoption caused the men to have to provide for another person, and in order to lessen the debt, she
took away the misfortune of William s death by confessing, allowing the family to mourn and
continue living (Shelley 83). Had she not confessed, Justine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First of all, Sabina hates and refuses to participate in parades. When the time came to sing, she never
knew the words of the songs and would merely open and close her mouth. But the other girls would
notice and report her. From her youth on, she hated parades (Kundera 50). Parades, in the eyes of
Sabina, represent kitsch, and she refuses to participate. Also, Sabina makes an effort to be an
individual through her paintings. She rebelled against the artistic rules at the Academy of Fine Arts,
and disagreed with everything she was taught there; she used her paintings to do something that
differed from normal art at the time (Kundera 132). Additionally, Sabina finds passion in her life
through having multiple lovers, opposite of Tereza s lack of excitement or passion. Further, Sabina
does not deny literal or metaphorical shit; While she was looking at herself in the mirror, excited by
her self denigration, she had a fantasy of Tomas seating her on the toilet in her bowler hat and
watching her void her bowels (Kundera 130). Unlike the usual kitsch, Sabina does not deny shit, and
even fantasizes about it with Tomas; she is unafraid by its existence. Finally, Sabina rebels against
kitsch by not subscribing to an aesthetic ideal. She revolts against the idealistic image that Franz
believes she is by leaving him; she does not identify with, nor would she become his aesthetic ideal
(Kundera 62). She also

Confucianism Argument Analysis
What is the solution? A revolution of the middle class? Yes, but the middle class intelligentsia would
be too cowardly to go forth with it. They think they have a lot to lose. They have their social status
and mortgage to worry about. I can t blame them; most of them have worked hard for it. But society
can t continue the way it does. Since humans as they are today will not evolve naturally before
extinguishing themselves; a new man must be built! We must take evolution out of the hands of
Mother Nature and set it anew. Don t the elitists think as I do regarding this? How could this go forth
while the global elite are in control? Change starts in the mind. Free your mind and the rest will

He didn t try to make himself into a religious figure or have his disciples do so. Confucianism is an all
encompassing humanism that neither denies nor slights heaven. Confucius said: The disciples who
received my instructions, and could themselves comprehend them, were seventy seven individuals.
They were all scholars of extraordinary ability. 72 of his students mastered what he taught. Buddha
who lived around the same time as Confucius however was made into a religious figure the founder of
Buddhism. Some brainy quotes by Confucius: Life is really simple, but we insist on making it
complicated. It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. Choose a job you love,
and you will never have to work a day in your life. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in
rising every time we fall. When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don t adjust the goals,
adjust the action steps. The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home. A superior man

The Emperor s New Clothes
Hans Christian Anderson displays insight into the vanity of man in the popular children s story, The
Emperor s New Clothes . Although born into the world as unique individuals, humans grow up
seeking approval, acceptance, and validation in the societal norms in which they live. Rather than
embracing their individuality, most live out their lives trying to fit into a mold that their culture deems
as successful. Most cultures view accomplishments, wealth, and positions of influence as measures of
success; thus, an individual s value is calculated by what he has externally and not by who he is
internally. Therefore, many people fail to develop their gifts, talents, and personalities to live a
fulfilling life for themselves, and they succumb to societal pressure to strive for the materialistic,
external trappings of success. This presents a struggle between self and society. In The Emperor s New
Clothes , Anderson uses clothing to symbolize this struggle wearing society s accepted standards as
clothes to mask our naked vulnerability to rejection. Anderson s story centers on an emperor whose
validation comes from his wardrobe. This fondness for beautiful clothes leaves him vulnerable to a
couple of swindlers who come to his town; these con artists claimed to be weavers of an extraordinary
cloth that is invisible to anyone who was unfit for his office or unforgiveable stupid (The Emperor s
New Clothes, para 2). The unique properties of the cloth intrigue the

As the development of globalization in economics in recent years, there is increasing popularity of

1.3 liquidity and Capital market
For Indonesia, another significant benefit of adopting IFRS is that increased liquidity of market and
lower cost of capital. Because acquiring IFRS could achieve harmonization of accounting standards.
Since IFRS could enable companies from different market to measure the similar standard. Hence, the
comparability of information improved for international investors and analysts Under the same
standard, it allows for simpler cross border investment in lower cost of capital and large liquidity
(Tarca 2012) Moreover, due to the increased transparency and enhanced confidence of investors,
companies of Indonesia could attract the foreign direct investment to boost their economic growth and
increase competitiveness especially for the international organizations (Larson, R. K 1993). On the
other hand, if using the different requirement for financial statement, it may pose challenges in the
analysis and make decision properly.

Compare And Contrast The University Of Tampa And The...
The University of Tampa and The Renaissance architecture: How an obsolete hotel and sense of
individualism shaped the campus s future design Without any doubt the architecture of University of
Tampa buildings is among the most spectacular designs within Tampa Bay. If you walk through the
campus it is almost impossible not to notice the round arches, the pointed domes, and the Herringbone
brickwork. The architecture methods are immensely similar to the classical revival period of
Renaissance art. But what made the UT campus look what it does today? Why is there always an
inevitable sense of renaissance architecture present? To answer these questions, first we need to obtain
a good knowledge of the university s background. University of Tampa as we know it today was much
smaller back in 1931 when it was first established as Tampa Junior College. During the summer of
1933 the college was moved to its present location, then the inoperative Tampa Bay Hotel. With the
expansion provided by the relocation the junior college was promoted to a complete university called

built to house the quickly growing winter visitors, a project that cost a whopping 3 million dollars at
the time. The architecture of the hotel is a very interesting form of Renaissance. Gothic style arches

Essay about Why I ve Decided to Go to College
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, If you are going to fear anything fear success.

different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and
make more money for the house, it s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there
are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud,

work I m sleeping or studding, there is never a dual moment in my life. Thankfully my boss works

that my parents and Aunt and Uncle support me, and push me to my fullest potential. With every great
person, there are others behind them supporting them. One person that inspired me was, Dr. Yvonne
Thornton, her story reminded me of myself. For example; when she stated her father brought her a car

Jablonksi Skin Color
In this video Dr. Nina Jablonksi from Penn State University talked about the evolution of human skin
color and why the gradient of skin color in humans exists. To begin this video she started by talking
about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of
skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type.
Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. The second type of melanin is
pheomelanin which is red and yellow in color. Certain amounts of these melanin are what determine
the different shades of skin tones. Melanin helps absorb the ultraviolet radiation which helps protect
the skin against the harmful and damaging effects of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown by the skin pigmentation in the Maasai people of East Africa because the women are a
lighter skin color than the men. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the
Maasai people show this as well. Over time, researchers have hypothesized that lighter skinned
people, such as Europeans or Asians, resulted from a chromosome mutation in dark skinned people.
To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons
of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it
showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people
should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people
by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. The only
real difference is the color we see but that is all, the differences truly do only run skin deep. We all
have the same ancestry and all of our skin pigmentation is almost identical. People need to stop
judging a book by its color and look a little

Canada Government s Health Care System

governments seek to deliver high quality health care and reasonable cost to all citizens. However, all
nations have not equality health care service and reasonable cost. Canada government provides
equality health care services and public facilities to the citizens. However, Canada Health Care System

privatization to citizen is Canada government cannot intervene to health care system. The government
do not provide the health care service to the public. The reasons for health care depend on government

Dual Objectives
James Manson Wood once said, Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the dual
objectives: education for living and education for making a living. College education is what a person
makes it, it can help them achieve their hopes and dreams, or people can go because you have to to
make a good living. Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, is repeatedly among the best
agricultural schools in the country, and it will help me achieve my goals of becoming a large animal
veterinarian in the future.
College education today can be very pricey, especially considering that you have to pay for
everything, even applications. To even send in an application and be considered for Texas Tech
University it cost 75 dollars. Meal plans, dorms, and parking can add up to thousands and thousands
of dollars a semester. Classes are really expensive too, the average cost is 38,016 dollars per year. This
may seem overwhelming, but fortunately there are ways to help you with the cost. You can get

Environmental Factors:
Political factors
An analysis of the hotel industry has revealed that there are environmental, labor, and food safety
regulations as well as regulations for merging, which must be looked at before entering into the
industry.
Hotels could be liable for clean up of contamination and other corrective action under various laws,
ordinances and regulations relating to environmental matters. Such laws referring to keeping the
environment in good shape can be quite costly to hotels in the industry. Another political factor that
can impose a concern for a member in the hotel industry is the laws regarding labor. For instance,
there are laws that govern minimum wage.
Social Cultural Factors
Social cultural factors are a big issue to look into for hotel industry because it deals with a lot of
consumers who have different demographic, ethnic, cultural backgrounds. By satisfying each
consumers or generalizing the way to hospitalize, hotel industry can have chance to expand more.

The Theme Of Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Anthem, by Ayn Rand, is a book that deals with topics of power, love, and individualism, and societal
and personal differences . The theme of anthem, that individuality must be protected, is widespread
and prominent, referenced throughout the book, from the viewpoint of the main character.
This will go over the character, the time, and the setting in the book, helping to show and understand
the theme because the author can convey plot points and themed information better through the
components of the book themselves, rather than outright stating it in the book.
The character helps understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, because it shows what the emotional and physical links to the society in the book, as well as
the mental states and feelings influencing the text.
The main character is named Equality 7 252 . He described himself as 6 , and he had always been
more interested in the scientific attributes of nature, rather than the job at hand. He held little regard
for the rules of the society, as shown by his disregard to law. The laws say that none among men may
be alone, ever and at any time, for this is the great transgression and the root of all evil. But we have
broken many laws, (Rand )
This character helped understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, since the character is , while struggling to maintain his own individuality. ...and we would
work for our brothers, gladly and willingly, ...What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to
obey?... (Rand). This quote helps support the theme in the novel by showing Equality s individuality
in different parts of the book. At the beginning, he denied his individuality and tried to blend in with
the conformist society, while at the end, he accepts and treasures his individuality. This relates to the
theme by showing that his individuality is treasured and valued by him.
The character and the setting work together to help find the theme in multiple ways. The characters
lives and works in the setting, while the setting and society helps influence the main character. The
setting shows where the character lives in the world, and how the culture in

Monologue Of Macbeth
It was clear to see that his highness was not well. From the moment he spoke to the mysterious man at
the door on there was tension. I could feel the uneasy mood of the evening rising, and I suspect the
other lords could too. What could the man have said that would rattle the king with such force?
Whoever he was Lady Macbeth was comfortable with Macbeth speaking to him. As soon as Macbeth
dismissed the man, she roped him back in like a hunter catching a wild animal. The king returned to
the table to start our banquet, but looked to have a glint of worry in his eyes.
To begin the evening his highness toasted to to all the lords and the missing Banquo. I must admit it
was strange that he was not present. Macbeth and Banquo were practically joined at the hip. Perhaps,
Banquo s absence was a sign of disloyalty to our new king. Did he sense something the rest of us hadn

Sustainability And Discredit Arguments For Space Exploration
I am writing this paper to claim that space exploration is a huge waste of resources and we should
focus our efforts on the sustainability of the Earth. I plan to explore the benefits of sustainability and
discredit arguments for space exploration. Sustainability is the more realistic and feasible choice. A
very popular argument for space exploration is to protect our Earth that we have managed to almost
destroy, by finding another planet to retreat to. Many people believe the only option is to spend
billions of dollars, that we do not necessarily have, into space exploration. It is said that there are
Earth like planets that would potentially be able to support life. People believe space exploration is
necessary for long term survival. It is a popular concept that something drastic will happen to Earth,
weather it be caused by man or natural disaster. Basic facts state that if we continue treating Earth the
way we do, Earth will not be able to support human life and will be rendered uninhabitable. With the
information that I and billions of other believe to be legitimate many people jump to space exploration
as the only answer. A popular concept is terraforming. Terraforming is the process of transforming a
hostile environment into one suitable for human life. Being that Mars is the most Earth like planet in
our solar system, it is the best candidate for terraforming. It is believed that terraforming any planet
would take centuries for just the initial steps, and much

The Wagner Act Essays
In 1934, the Wagner Act was first introduced, also called the National Labor Relations Act (NLRB), it
promised to ensure a wise distribution of wealth between management and labor, to maintain a full
flow of purchasing power, and to prevent recurrent depressions. (Babson, p. 85) During the mid 1930
s organized labor and the United States Government struck a deal. It was the time of Franklin D.
Roosevelt. A volatile time, the country was attempting to recover from a depression, unemployment
was at an all time high and organized labor was struggling for its own existence. Vast numbers of the
unemployed are right on the edge, observed Lorent Hickock, a Pennsylvania reporter hired by the
federal government to report on social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no relief in sight, society had nothing to lose and everything to gain by fighting back. Workers
saw that businesses and businessmen continued to get rich and mover further ahead in life, while the
working class began to fall further down the economic ladder with little or no hope of advancement
within society. The solidarity amongst the unemployed is a key factor which cannot be ignored by
historians and scholars, and that impetus could have propelled labor forward. For the first time,
America had seen mass demonstrations across the country centering on a central issue,
unemployment. Unemployment councils were prevalent within many of the major metropolitan
centers across the country, and they became the proponent for the wize of the American worker.
Numerous rallies and demonstrations were staged by those councils, and when it came to the issue of
unemployment there were no perceived boundaries amongst citizens based on ethnicity, race or
religion. The barriers which had stymied the growth of the labor movement had temporarily
disappeared. However, as powerful as these councils could have been, there was no co ordination
amongst the various centers in relation to the public protest. Communities and individuals were
becoming mobilized and they too began to learn the importance of being organized and working
together collectively and disregarding any self imposed barriers along the lines

converted to useful bandwidths so wide or so penetrating that every resident will be able to log on to
mUniNet for say a solid megabit a second, resident expanded to mean any organization physically in
Toronto, and addressable within its boundaries. The necessary transceivers built into a higher class of
new bulb may saturate the city on some ten percent or less of those streetlights for fixed (virtual CPE),

The, And Influences From Antonin Artaud s First Manifesto
By using Don Taylor s translation of the Sophocles written Antigone, and influences from Antonin
Artaud s First Manifesto, I hope to create a directorial concept which is interesting from both a visual
and auditory perspective.
My set will be the most important visual aspect of my production, and will be done on a proscenium
arch, however, the stage will need to be incredibly tall (around 7m), but can be on the same level as
the audience. On the stage, there will be four separate horizontal levels. The lowest level will be
around 1.5m tall, reaching from the ground up, 1.5m deep, and stretching across the entire stage. This
level will represent where Polynices body is kept, and will be filled with soil, fake blood, rocks,
stones, sand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Down stage right, there will be a ladder attached to the wall next to the stage, which will only be used
by Antigone, as she will be the only character who is permitted to move from level to level.
In terms of sound, I would use heavily electronic, distorted sound bites and surround sound in order to
affect the audience s sensibilities from all angles. By using sound electronically, I would hope that
there would be a greater capacity for creativity than using live instruments in the theatre. Additionally,
this would hopefully create a deeper effect on the audience, as they would not know where the sound
is coming from; there will be no clear source of sound. I would use sound effects such as panning in
order to distort the sound, making full use of surround sound equipment, and therefore make the
audience feel immersed in sound. The sound will fluctuate between having the fft filter the club
downstairs on and off. This will give the sound a muffled effect, like it s almost coming from another
place at some points, in order to make utterly unusual sound properties as Artaud suggests. I would
also ensure the seating is low enough for the audience members to have their feet on the floor. This
will ensure that they can always hear the vibrations of the music, adding another way in which my
production will directly impact the audience.
I will also be using light in order to maximize the contrasts between the four levels. In the

Sociological Perspective On Death And Dying
The discourses about death and dying scattered across the various sciences. The fundamental purpose
of this study is to achieve Interdisciplinary understanding about death and dying which dying may
allow reaching out towards an elementary level from where the conscious knowledge about death and
dying is taking shape.
Death is a vital facet to understand human society. Death can be studied in many ways. Death has
various aspects: it can be described as a process of dying, death reveals the inequalities in
demographic patterns of mortality, discussion of the raging ethical debates around the point of death,
attempt to describe the feelings of the bereaved, examination of the institutions that deal with the
dying and the dead or analyses mortuary rituals (Bradbury, 2012). Historically, the study of death has

Behavior Is Most Influenced by the Nurturing of Our Parents
A person s behavior is influenced by the way their parents raised them. Being nurtured by someone at
such a young age, many do not realize how much of an influence their parent was to their
development. People only understand the significance of parenting until they start tending their own
children. Parenting is more important and has a long term effect on children than what most parents
assume. It is vital for parents to realize that every action they conduct is significant in a child s
development and how content and prosperous children become in upcoming years. The most
beneficial approach to nurture children is authoritative parenting style, which has been proven to result

make demands about their behavior nor set limits for their children to follow. Parents do not set rules,

and would prefer to be their child s friend, buddy, and confidant than a parent. Though parents do not
set rigid rules like authoritarian parents, they are generally loving, supportive, nurturing, warm, and
accepting. The main concern is to let their child express their creativity, individuality, and happiness
(Sarac 2). Similarly, disengaged parents are rarely home for their children as they are too consumed
with work. Some families struggle financially and become disengaged from children by the sheer
economics of survival working multiple jobs (Vivo 2). There is no time for parents to develop bonds
with their child or to focus on their emotional and social lives because they are too consumed with
work. Additionally, permissive parenting style is the most damaging approach to raise children.
Children of this method turn out to be the unhappiest of all. The child is most likely to exhibit

the business is successful and the level of success for these industries is very few. This paper will
address comparing and contrasting Amazon and Starbucks management systems and how they support
innovation. In addition, pros and cons of their management system will be addressed to determine
their leadership and cultural differences.
Overarching Leadership Common leadership traits of both Amazon and Starbucks successful and
admired fortune 500 companies are their ability to adapt creatively and effectively to challenges and
change. Strong and active coping skills is how they recover from setbacks, are open to opinions of
other people around them and are ultimately aware of their strengths and shortcomings (cite).
Innovation at Amazon Incorporated in 1994 (cite), the admiration that comes from Amazon s
relentless focus on good execution and leadership principles is what makes Amazon such a successful
business. The premise that everyone at Amazon is a leader is the foundation of the leadership
approach used in this company. They start with the customer comes first and then work backwards.
Their vigorous strategy is to earn and keep the trust of their customers. Although attention is high in
the area of competition, they fixate over their customers.

This historical study will define the dual hostility of the Soviet Union and the United States in the

1960s defined a period of history in which a stalemate occurred between superpowers. The United
States and the Soviet Union were continually seeking to build larger nuclear arsenals and to also
expand their territorial influence over lesser nations. The Cuban Missile Crisis defines also defines the

It assumed the use of multiple and powerful nuclear weapons by both sides in the Cold War, resulting
in reciprocal total annihilation.
This strategic perspective defined the logical outcome of a nuclear war between two major powers,
which would result in the destruction of both sides of the conflict. Therefore, the U.S. and the Soviets

conflicts that followed. This aspect of a cold war defines the ideological expansion of communism and
capitalist ideology, which would now compete for world domination. By not being able to actually
initiate a hot war between the two superpowers, it became apparent that clandestine spy networks and
the movement of nuclear arsenals would set the stage for the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
The Soviet Union played an important role in bringing nuclear missiles to Castro s Cuba in 1962, but
it should also be mentioned in the context of the overreaching Cold War with the United States. In a
broader context of the Cold War, the United States has presaged the Cuban Missile Crisis by President

Reflective Essay On Faith In Life
Is there really a God? Is it possible that there is a superior being watching over us? It seemed
farfetched to me when I was younger. I asked myself these question growing up. I never bought into
the thought of believing in a God as a kid. That was until I faced adversity in my life. I turned to my
faith in hard times. Religion is a crutch. When you are wounded, you often need a crutch. The crutch
symbolizing faith, and the wounded leg embodies the problems we face in life. In my life, I have
learned that faith has been side by side with me for my existence and through tough times. Life can
get hard, but when you stand by your faith when dodging obstacles it makes it much easier. That is
how faith can help overcome obstacles.
Looking back, religion had played a key role in my life. Picking me up when I was thrown to the
ground and helping me grow for the obstacles I would face later in life. I recall a moment when I was
about 7 years old. At the time my parents were going through a rough patch in their marriage. It was a
hard time for myself and our family. Their non stop quarrel would push me past my breaking point. I
couldn t handle it. The thought of them splitting up always ran a shiver down my spine. I distinctly
remember this one night when they would not stop yelling. At that age, I couldn t handle it. Tears
filled the sockets of my eyes. I needed someone to talk to. I called my grandmother on skype. I begged

Compare And Contrast Softball And Baseball Essay

player, but it s not. Though softball is mainly women and baseball is generally men, there is no rule
anywhere stating that women can t play baseball and men can t play softball. They have so many more
differences than people think. Softball and baseball come from the same origin and are based upon the

While on base you can lead off but you have to wait until after the pitch has been released. The bases
are only spread 60 feet apart which is why the pitch has to be released before you can lead off in
softball. The ball is also different, the ball for softball is significantly larger and softer. The bats in
softball are usually thinner and made out of aluminum, while the gloves are larger. The gloves are
larger because the ball is larger. The last thing for softball is the pitching, the pitch itself is underhand.
The pitching mound is on a level surface with the batter and it is also closer to the batter.
Baseball is a similar sport but there are a lot of significant differences. The games last nine innings
and can also go into overtime. On base in the game the runner can lead off at anytime, the reason for
that is the bases are 90 feet apart. The ball is very small and because of that the gloves are smaller. The
bats in baseball are usually made out of wood. The pitching in baseball is odd, the mound is on a
slight hill making the pitching throw downward to hit the strike zone. The players pitch overhand
almost as if to just be throwing the ball. The mound is farther away from the batter in this

Grouping Vs Individualism
It is easier for humans to harm others when the they or the enemy is grouped because a group can be
considered for its ideals and goals alone. Grouping removes individualism, and thus removes the
identity of those involved. Someone might hate a group, but concede that they do not particularly hate
any one person within it, even though by hating the group they are projecting that feeling toward its
members. Grouping can give someone the feeling that they are free to act as they please, simply
because the other members of their group can support them, no matter how wrong or immoral that
action may be. When a group of likeminded people surrounds someone and backs that person up no
matter what, that person can consider morals in the perspective of those around him, instead of the
way that society governs it. Grouping also intoxicates its members with the idea that they can reflect

Sompack a Turkish Manufacturer
ABSTRACT
SomPack which is a Turkish manufacturer, had to make a hard decision about its substantial corporate
strategy, because in the mid 1990s SomPack realized that China was a threat. China had been making
inroads into U.S. Market. The main issue was the labor cost differentials, so SomPack tried to set
some ways to reduce labor costs and increase the capacity. The company took a step to product
assembly that is the lipstick mechanism and the mechanism was high volume component that has
multistep process. They had a machine custom designed, but the machine was so sensitive to operate

Thus, it causes some problems about the moulds and to fix they had to pay much more for labor costs.
Another criterion is SomPack`s customers` demand cheap products. Moreover, SomPack loss their

who could control suppliers in China increasingly preferred to deal with them directly. Customers
increasingly approached SomPack for smaller order quantities, and when they needed to change their
product mix often, so SomPack could not have depended on Chinese suppliers for such products
either.
FACTS
Facts are related to criteria. There are some economic and also social facts that are connected to
economic ones. Economic facts are that the company was trying to reduce labor costs, product quality
by the use of cheaper raw material, use of cheaper costs and machines. Also, the social facts occurred
due to loss of customers. Those customers started to look for new countries to find a new company.
That is, SOMPACK was famous with its quality products and good customer relations, but they had to
decrease costs because of the fact that global crisis and foreign competition had increased.
ACTION PLAN
SomPack`s goal is to be different than the other companies on the base of production`s quality and
service.

Wal Mart employees receive wages that are lower than the average for the industry. In 2004,
associates n California earned an average of 31% less than the industry average. Wal Mart employees
received an average of $9.70 per hour compared to $14.01 at large retailers (Dube Jacobs, 2004). Such
low wages cause Wal Mart associates to receive government assistance. The families of Wal Mart

On top of low wages Wal Mart employees pay an exuberant amount for basic healthcare. In January

How I Started Playing Baseball Essay
Narrative essay
I started playing baseball in my high school year. As a matter a fact, I struggled in my high school
baseball team because my teammates, who already had been playing baseball since they were in
kindergarten or elementary school, were better than I. However, in the middle way of junior year, I
made the varsity baseball team. I was glad and quite honored that I made the varsity team. However,
my happiness would soon be depleted. Although I was on the team, I spent most of my time on the
bench. I tried to find a baseball technique that I could take advantage over other players. When I tried
to find some skill frantically, I found out that bunting is one of my key factors to be a starting member.
I practiced bunting all day long even if people told me that bunting is a drab and an unattractive
strategy. Although I spent most of the varsity game on the bench, there were few times I had to go up
for bunting. Eventually, I successfully laid a bunt most of the time. At the end of junior year, I was a
starting member of the varsity team. After I got myself to be a starting member, I stopped practicing
bunting because I enjoyed hitting base hit and home run. However, in the final game of my high
school year, it paid me a prize.
In my senior year, it had been the unbelievable season for me, my team and I went into a CIF final.

the one having the most effect being the travel and economic embargo placed on the island nation.
This occurred shortly after Fidel Castro s entrance into power, mainly on his decision to nationalize

Québec was the Front de libération du Québec s main goal causing half of Quebec s population to
want to be separate from Canada. However, he first hints of strain caused by the October crisis

  • 2. The Statement Of Purpose Of The Bean Plant Experiment Statement of Purpose For my independent project I performed the Bean Plant Experiment. I originally wanted to know whether artificial light worked as well as or better than natural light for growing a bean plant. I was asking this question because I believe that natural light works better to help a plant grow taller than artificial light does. Since I believed that natural light works better overall, by doing the Bean Plant Experiment I could determine the answer to my question. Hypothesis The hypothesis that is looking to be proved, if a bean plant is exposed to eight hours of natural light per day, then it s rate of growth will be higher than a bean plant exposed to eight hours of artificial sunlight per day. Background Before beginning the Bean Plant Experiment I had to gather many different materials to be able to carry it out. I had to obtain six of the same kind and relatively the same size, of bean seeds as well as two, small, four inch clay pots. I also used the graduated cylinder that was in the lab kit that I purchased at the beginning of the year for this class. I also had to get soil. For my soil I chose Miracle Gro potting soil because that is what my mom uses for her flowers. Another item that I needed was a ruler with millimeters on it so I could measure the height of each plant everyday. The last thing on my list of materials was a piece of graph paper and a pencil. Next I had to set up my work space to provide myself with the most accurate results. I cleared off a window seal in my house that sets on the south side of my house where the sun would best hit the plant. I then cleared out a spot in my brothers closet for the second plant, which would work better than mine would have considering he never goes in his closet. Something else that probably wasn t necessary but helped in the long run was I set out all of my equipment so it wouldn t be such a hassle and I wouldn t have to worry about not being able to find everything. Experimental Method To begin my experiment I first took the two four inch clay pots and put two scoops of Miracle Gro soil into both of the pots. Then I gathered the six bean seeds of relatively the same size and I put three seeds in each of the pots. I placed each to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Study Abroad In Peru-Ecuador Kim Carlson, a representative for the Leadership Center at Virginia Tech posted a flyer advertising for a Study Abroad in Peru Ecuador. Through eye catching imagery, and telling you that this could be you, they appeal to the target reader. The effectiveness of the flyer can be attributed to giving enough intriguing information that the reader wants to know more, but it also doesn t give you the complete picture leading the reader to the information sessions. Every day we walk past advertisements that are thrown at you in such abundance that you often ignore them. Only a spark catches the eye of the viewer. In that spark, they may have sold you on their product or event; others may become curious; some not intrigued at all. I found myself asking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The flyer leaves too many open questions and assumptions. Why not throw in two or three more photos that include pictures of the residence that students stay, the city that its located, and a photo of students with locals. Throw in a quote or two. • 4. Individualism In Frankenstein fact that the monster is superior and be with him. This idea leads into the fact that the women in the novel are supposed to be indebted to the men. This is demonstrated by Justine s confession to the murder of William, which she did not commit. The Frankensteins adopted Justine, which kept her from starving on the streets. Based upon her adoption, Justine felt an indebtedness to the family, specifically the men (they provide for the family), and this debt drove her to confess to murder. Her adoption caused the men to have to provide for another person, and in order to lessen the debt, she took away the misfortune of William s death by confessing, allowing the family to mourn and continue living (Shelley 83). Had she not confessed, Justine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, Sabina hates and refuses to participate in parades. When the time came to sing, she never knew the words of the songs and would merely open and close her mouth. But the other girls would notice and report her. From her youth on, she hated parades (Kundera 50). Parades, in the eyes of Sabina, represent kitsch, and she refuses to participate. Also, Sabina makes an effort to be an individual through her paintings. She rebelled against the artistic rules at the Academy of Fine Arts, and disagreed with everything she was taught there; she used her paintings to do something that differed from normal art at the time (Kundera 132). Additionally, Sabina finds passion in her life through having multiple lovers, opposite of Tereza s lack of excitement or passion. Further, Sabina does not deny literal or metaphorical shit; While she was looking at herself in the mirror, excited by her self denigration, she had a fantasy of Tomas seating her on the toilet in her bowler hat and watching her void her bowels (Kundera 130). Unlike the usual kitsch, Sabina does not deny shit, and even fantasizes about it with Tomas; she is unafraid by its existence. Finally, Sabina rebels against kitsch by not subscribing to an aesthetic ideal. She revolts against the idealistic image that Franz believes she is by leaving him; she does not identify with, nor would she become his aesthetic ideal (Kundera 62). She also ... • 5. Confucianism Argument Analysis What is the solution? A revolution of the middle class? Yes, but the middle class intelligentsia would be too cowardly to go forth with it. They think they have a lot to lose. They have their social status and mortgage to worry about. I can t blame them; most of them have worked hard for it. But society can t continue the way it does. Since humans as they are today will not evolve naturally before extinguishing themselves; a new man must be built! We must take evolution out of the hands of Mother Nature and set it anew. Don t the elitists think as I do regarding this? How could this go forth while the global elite are in control? Change starts in the mind. Free your mind and the rest will follow. Confucianism is an all encompassing humanism that neither denies nor slights heaven. Confucius said: The disciples who received my instructions, and could themselves comprehend them, were seventy seven individuals. They were all scholars of extraordinary ability. 72 of his students mastered what he taught. Buddha who lived around the same time as Confucius however was made into a religious figure the founder of Buddhism. Some brainy quotes by Confucius: Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps. The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home. A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire. Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change. • 6. The Emperor s New Clothes Hans Christian Anderson displays insight into the vanity of man in the popular children s story, The Emperor s New Clothes . Although born into the world as unique individuals, humans grow up seeking approval, acceptance, and validation in the societal norms in which they live. Rather than embracing their individuality, most live out their lives trying to fit into a mold that their culture deems as successful. Most cultures view accomplishments, wealth, and positions of influence as measures of success; thus, an individual s value is calculated by what he has externally and not by who he is internally. Therefore, many people fail to develop their gifts, talents, and personalities to live a fulfilling life for themselves, and they succumb to societal pressure to strive for the materialistic, external trappings of success. This presents a struggle between self and society. In The Emperor s New Clothes , Anderson uses clothing to symbolize this struggle wearing society s accepted standards as clothes to mask our naked vulnerability to rejection. Anderson s story centers on an emperor whose validation comes from his wardrobe. This fondness for beautiful clothes leaves him vulnerable to a couple of swindlers who come to his town; these con artists claimed to be weavers of an extraordinary cloth that is invisible to anyone who was unfit for his office or unforgiveable stupid (The Emperor s New Clothes, para 2). The unique properties of the cloth intrigue the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Compare And Contrast The University Of Tampa And The... The University of Tampa and The Renaissance architecture: How an obsolete hotel and sense of individualism shaped the campus s future design Without any doubt the architecture of University of Tampa buildings is among the most spectacular designs within Tampa Bay. If you walk through the campus it is almost impossible not to notice the round arches, the pointed domes, and the Herringbone brickwork. The architecture methods are immensely similar to the classical revival period of Renaissance art. But what made the UT campus look what it does today? Why is there always an inevitable sense of renaissance architecture present? To answer these questions, first we need to obtain a good knowledge of the university s background. University of Tampa as we know it today was much smaller back in 1931 when it was first established as Tampa Junior College. During the summer of 1933 the college was moved to its present location, then the inoperative Tampa Bay Hotel. To begin this video she started by talking about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type. Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the Maasai people show this as well. To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. Sustainability And Discredit Arguments For Space Exploration I am writing this paper to claim that space exploration is a huge waste of resources and we should focus our efforts on the sustainability of the Earth. I plan to explore the benefits of sustainability and discredit arguments for space exploration. Sustainability is the more realistic and feasible choice. A very popular argument for space exploration is to protect our Earth that we have managed to almost destroy, by finding another planet to retreat to. Many people believe the only option is to spend billions of dollars, that we do not necessarily have, into space exploration. It is said that there are Earth like planets that would potentially be able to support life. People believe space exploration is necessary for long term survival. It is a popular concept that something drastic will happen to Earth, weather it be caused by man or natural disaster. Basic facts state that if we continue treating Earth the way we do, Earth will not be able to support human life and will be rendered uninhabitable. With the information that I and billions of other believe to be legitimate many people jump to space exploration as the only answer. A popular concept is terraforming. Terraforming is the process of transforming a hostile environment into one suitable for human life. Being that Mars is the most Earth like planet in our solar system, it is the best candidate for terraforming. It is believed that terraforming any planet would take centuries for just the initial steps, and much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the first time, America had seen mass demonstrations across the country centering on a central issue, unemployment. Unemployment councils were prevalent within many of the major metropolitan centers across the country, and they became the proponent for the wize of the American worker. Numerous rallies and demonstrations were staged by those councils, and when it came to the issue of unemployment there were no perceived boundaries amongst citizens based on ethnicity, race or religion. In my life, I have learned that faith has been side by side with me for my existence and through tough times. Life can get hard, but when you stand by your faith when dodging obstacles it makes it much easier. That is how faith can help overcome obstacles. Looking back, religion had played a key role in my life. Picking me up when I was thrown to the ground and helping me grow for the obstacles I would face later in life. I recall a moment when I was about 7 years old. At the time my parents were going through a rough patch in their marriage. It was a hard time for myself and our family. Their non stop quarrel would push me past my breaking point. I couldn t handle it. The thought of them splitting up always ran a shiver down my spine. I distinctly remember this one night when they would not stop yelling. At that age, I couldn t handle it. Tears filled the sockets of my eyes. I needed someone to talk to. I called my grandmother on skype. I begged her, Please stop my parents from fighting . She told me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The gloves are larger because the ball is larger. The last thing for softball is the pitching, the pitch itself is underhand. The pitching mound is on a level surface with the batter and it is also closer to the batter. Baseball is a similar sport but there are a lot of significant differences. • 32. Grouping Vs Individualism It is easier for humans to harm others when the they or the enemy is grouped because a group can be considered for its ideals and goals alone. Grouping removes individualism, and thus removes the identity of those involved. Someone might hate a group, but concede that they do not particularly hate any one person within it, even though by hating the group they are projecting that feeling toward its members. Grouping can give someone the feeling that they are free to act as they please, simply because the other members of their group can support them, no matter how wrong or immoral that action may be. However, in the middle way of junior year, I made the varsity baseball team. I was glad and quite honored that I made the varsity team. However, my happiness would soon be depleted. Although I was on the team, I spent most of my time on the bench. I tried to find a baseball technique that I could take advantage over other players. When I tried to find some skill frantically, I found out that bunting is one of my key factors to be a starting member. I practiced bunting all day long even if people told me that bunting is a drab and an unattractive strategy. Although I spent most of the varsity game on the bench, there were few times I had to go up for bunting. Eventually, I successfully laid a bunt most of the time. At the end of junior year, I was a starting member of the varsity team. After I got myself to be a starting member, I stopped practicing bunting because I enjoyed hitting base hit and home run. However, in the final game of my high school year, it paid me a prize. In my senior year, it had been the unbelievable season for me, my team and I went into a CIF final. My teammates and I were cheered and excited to be in the final. Besides, my high school stats were pretty decent. I had confidence with my stats ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
