John D Rockeffeller
What makes John D. Rockefeller an effective leader?
In his decades of business, one of the key characteristics that propelled Rockefeller to success
was his strong leadership abilities. It wasn t his status, nor his age that made Rockefeller a great
leader. Instead, it was his influence. People around him wanted to follow him; they were inspired
by him to do more than they ever thought they were capable of. It was his ability to create a strong
sense of teamwork and his own energy and passion that drove his workers and thus his company.
We can say he was a leader according to the leadership framework: Be, Know, Do:
he was a real professional who possessed good character traits (like competence and dignity of
labour) and above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the fight against independents pipelines, armed men defended land bought by Rockefeller on the
planned way of the pipelines.
What type of leadership did he use?
It appears that, to lead his company, Rockefeller used one type of leadership to lead the workers
inside the company and for the commercial practices. In both case, it was an autocratic and
directive style of leadership. Even if Rockefeller seemed very close to his employees and knew how
to motivate and reward them, he did not trust them at all. He saw his relationship with them as
transactional, one of competing needs. However, he rarely made important decisions without
seeking debate and achieving a common mind among his key associates, foreshadowing the
consensus management
For his commercial practices, he used too an autocratic leadership. His most flagrant sin was the
ruthlessness with which he crushed competitors. For every competitor who became to be
dangerous for his business, Rockefeller used all the above practices to reduce them to nothing, or he
extended the olive branch to vanquished rivals, buying out their companies and drawing them into
his organization, making at least some of them richer than they could have been on their own. This
was not generosity but the mechanism whereby he expanded Standard Oil into a monopoly.
The Rockefeller s underlying characteristics that helped him to raise the top:
Several studies on Rockefeller show us the caricatured portrait of

Genetic Transformation Lab
Genetic transformation occurs when an organism is modified by the introduction of new genetic
information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In this lab, engineered proteins
containing DNA to absorb blue light and emit green light were incorporated into E.coli bacteria.
The main purpose of this lab was to transform E. coli by forcing it to uptake plasmid containing an
ampicillin resistance geneand a green fluorescent protein (GFP) using complementation (adding
antibiotic resistance in addition to weed out non transformed cells). To see the effects of this
plasmid on cells, bacteriatreated with the plasmid were grown 3 different growth mediums: agar,
agar/ampicillin(+), agar/ ampicillin(+)/PTG(+). With the plates prepared,... Show more content on

The transformation efficiency is the efficiency by which cells can take up extracellular DNA and
express genes encoded by it. The results from this lab show that this efficiency was 0. There was
no ramification of findings for this lab because the expected results were not obtained. If there were
successful outcomes, more research on gene insertion in bacteria for insulin production and cancer
research could have been further built upon. Since the transformation efficiency calculation was 0,
there were many errors that have arisen. The main problem was there was no control growth, which
means there was a bacterial problem with the culture. Another error could have been problems with
the broth and CaCl2 solutions. With regards to the GFP protein and its ability to be tracked using
UV light, is there another protein out there that scientists and doctors can track without using a UV
light,

What Is Elizabethan Warfare
Elizabethan age Warfare
While Elizabeth I. ruled as queen there were three great wars: The one against Spain and two
rebellions started by each a Irish Earl, one by Earl Desmond, James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, and
the other one by Earl Tyrone, Hugh O Neill. All wars ended with a good outcome for the British
Empire, for example the the failure of the Desmond Rebellions.
First of, the most important war within Europe of that era. The war between Spain and England,
which also involved fights in the Netherlands, which later were known as Dutch Rebellion. The
war could be forseen at the latest when Queen Elizabeth I. was excommunicated by the Pope 1870,
but also before when the Queen rejected the proposal of the Spanish King, Phillip II.
Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
England at that time didn t have half of this amount of ships, just 34 and over 160 merchant
vessels, which normally could not be used to fight. But with some tricks the English seamen were
able to defeat the whole Spanish Armada.
The war ended after the next king, James I, was proclaimed king. The reasons are simple: He forbid
all privateering and was also a Catholic Monarch. So Elizabeth I could never end the war against
Spain herself because she never intended to do as James I did.
Coming to the next fightings which all were before or during the war against Spain. The first one
were the Desmond Rebellions led by James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond in the 1870
s, 1880 s and 1890 s. The rebellion was started to free the southern province Munster of Ireland
from the reign of the heretic England.
The first try was from 1869 to 1873 and failed since it was ended with hundreds of rebels executed.
Also all the Lords who supported Earl Desmond were exiled.
After an invasion by the exiled Lords, Ireland decided to no owe allegiance to the Queen after she

Daniel In The Lion s Den
Daniel In The Lion s Den
A Bible story that never grows old is the one of Daniel in the lion s den. (Daniel 6:1 28)
Lesson #1: In addition to the way Daniel handled mistreatment and the hateful attitudes of certain
people, one can easily see the hand of God as it providentially cared for a faithful servant.
Lesson #2: King Darius favored Daniel because of his excellent spirit. Now, that was quite
disturbing to those jealous hearted men so they set about to destroy Daniel, and that is the way
jealousy reacts especially when others are favored; nonetheless, in the process of trying to destroy
a child of God, they lost their own lives.
Lesson #3: Good things came to Daniel because he was faithful in his duties. Those scallywags

Oh Yes! The devil uses flattery: Then these men said, we shall not find any occasion against this
Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the Law of his God.
Then these presidents and rulers assembled to the king, and said this to him: King Darius, live
forever.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects, and the satraps, and the officials and governors,
have planned together to establish a royal law, and to make a strong ban that whoever shall ask a
petition of any god or man for thirty days, except from you, O king, he shall be thrown into the den
of lions.
Lesson #5: Trouble does not always have a good influence upon a person. It sometimes changes
good people for the worst, for they are never able to forget those early scars, and they become sour
or cynical. But the secret of Daniel s success was: because he trusted in his God.
Lesson #6: God will always win and those who remain faithful to Him will be honored; ...thanks be
to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. So that, my beloved brothers, be
steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not
without fruit in the Lord. I Corinthians

1. Introduction: Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are used for long term, large scale
oceanographic monitoring. They are classified into different types battery powered AUVs,
propeller driven AUVs and buoyancy driven under water gliders. Among these, underwater
gliders are highly efficient compared to the other types of gliders, because they spend most of
their time in stable, steady motion and they spend their energy only when they are changing their
equilibrium state. There are various ways in which these gliders can use buoyancy for
maneuvering. For this model the movement of these gliders is controlled by the servo actuators
which move the mass relative to the vehicle s frame and their motion control is affected by
varying the parameters which affect the steady motion, such as the center of mass and buoyancy.
These parameters are to be controlled for attaining a steady state motion. For this a control system
needs to be designed which provides feedback in response to the errors which are present in the
state of motion. [1][3] The main important area of concern for the underwater gliders has been their
efficiency, then motion control is the secondary concern.

South Carolina State Museum Case Study
IntroductionUnderstanding the need of the community is important to social work because it
will be our guide in how we serve our community as a whole. Our role is to respond to the needs
of the vulnerable population by addressing issues of poverty, diversity, homelessness, equality and
health concern of the individual that live within our community. The homeless population within
our local community has continued to rise. And over the past few yours has cause a lot of
concern for local business in our downtown district of Columbia. Improving shelters and
providing much needed services have become vital in order to help our community see a decline
in the number of families on our local streets. Community Demographics Some of the major land

Lab And Using The Result Of The Chemiluminescence Reaction
In this experiment, luminol was synthesized in the lab and used to demonstrate the result of the
chemiluminescence reaction.
Introduction:
In criminal shows shown on television, almost common in every show are investigators
inspecting crime scenes. Often when we see investigators looking for some form of a bodily fluid
at a crime scene, they spray some liquid and then use a black light over the area. If bodily fluids are
present, then the area appears to glow. The substance that they are spraying from the bottle is in fact
luminol, and the glow that is observed is from a chemiluminescent reaction. The blood illuminates
because of iron in the hemoglobin. Iron serves as the catalyst for the chemiluminescent reaction and
causes it to glow . Chemiluminescence is the release of light without heat due to a chemical reaction
. The release of light is from bonds that are broken, formed, or restructured2. A similar process,
known as fluorescence, also produces an illumination. This chemical process on the other hand,
gets its energy for light from the absorbance and release of light at different frequencies. .
Experimental Procedure: To a 5 mL conical vial with a spin vane, 5 nitro 2, 3 dihydrophthalazine 1,
4 dione (.151 grams) was added. Next, sodium hydroxide (2 mL, 3M) was added to the conical vial
and stirred until a reddish brown color was obtained. The addition of sodium hydrosulfite (.254

Branagh And Hamlet Comparison Essay
Mel Gibson vs. Kenneth Branagh: Hamlet Edition
Hamlet, a story of revenge, madness, uncertainty and death. The fourth act of Shakespeare s play
embarks on the falling action, leaving readers eager to known how the story may conclude.
Many film adaptions of the famous play have been created by director s eager to create their own
take on this tragedy, but the two film versions of act 4 that will be analyzed in this essay are the
1990s Franco Zeffirelli version starring, Mel Gibson and the 1996 Kenneth Branagh version. Both
films are unarguably well produced productions and both are able to achieve their own unique
perceptions of the play. However, Kenneth Branagh version contributes an abundance of uniqueness
that sets his apart from Zeffierelli s. The thesis for this conclusion is based off an analysis of the
casting, editing, time setting and cinematography. To start off with, throughout the... Show more

Zephirelli and Branagh take two completely different routes when it comes to cinematography,
which makes all the difference while watching and comparing the two films. Zephirelli used a lot of
wide shots, making use of his atmosphere, the intension probably to make the audience get a true
atmospheric feel for the setting, he also mixes this in with many close up shots. After a while his
shots become repetitive and shows no uniqueness. Branagh experiments with several different shot
angles, from the reflection shots in the mirrors, which suggest that there are eavesdroppers
throughout the castle, and shots where the camera circle around the actors as they are in the midst
of intense conversation helps to build up the intensity and importance of the scene. These are two

William Blake Poetry Analysis
In general, there are various forms of literature, whom many historical authors and analysts
throughout the decades have the chance to demonstrate their freedom of expression, and as well as
using their imagination to conduct dramatic plots with compelling characters. In particular, there is
one specific literary form that expresses the author s mood, tone and profound messages, in a way
that is rhythmic, allegorical and visually creative pertaining to the human senses. In this case, the
form of poetrymatches with the mentioned criteria, from its promising structural styles, such as
limericks and haikus, as well as its repetitive alliteration that attracts readers to recite the poems, in
an emotional manner. It is a fact that poetry is also used to enhance the author s theme, according to
many descriptive literary techniques, such as similes, personification and symbolism. In particular,
the theme of lovecan be portrayed in various meanings and visual representations, according to each
author s contrasting perspective. Specifically, there are three poems that briefly describe three
perceptions of love, whether it can be prominent in regards to the loss of virginity, the appreciation
of idealistic beauty, or the wrathful feelings towards infinite sexual desire.
Firstly, the poem called The Sick Rose discusses the subject of love, referring to the allegorical
figures that William Blake explains in this composition. With the use of personification and
symbolism throughout

Disneyland Descriptive Experience
The alarm went off, Ring ring ring ring! Under my cozy blanket, I thought of the spectacular
experiences awaiting me these few days. I jumped out of bed, swished through my room and got
ready. In no time I got ready for what was awaiting! With the stars shining like little diamonds in
the dark sky, my parents and I got into the car. I couldn t believe this day finally arrived, and I
was going to Disneyland. We first picked up my enthusiastic friend Kaitlyn and headed to the
airport where some of our Spirit Squad friends awaited, ready to get on the plane and fly out to
the Happiest Place on Earth. In a few hours, we reached Disneyland where the adventure started.
The enormous rides were waiting, and I felt scared at first, but then my adventurous side
revealed itself, although I was still cautious. My time spent at Disneyland was priceless. Not
only did I have a lot of fun, I also learned that if I don t face my fears I might miss some of the
most wonderful moments in life, but that doesn t mean I can t say no sometimes. Once we
reached Disneyland, we went through a Leadership program after which we headed towards our
first ride. I had no idea what type of ride that was, which frightened me, I never went on big rides
before. I started to feel butterflies in my stomach, I didn t know what to do. Mrs. Santos realized I
felt scared and offered to sit next to me. This comforted me a little and the butterflies in my
stomach were flying away, out of my stomach. We entered the

IMF and the Greek Debt Crisis:
The miracles performed by credit are fundamentally comparable to the miracles an association of
counterfeiters could perform for its benefit by lending its forged banknotes in return for interest. In
both cases, the stimulus to the economy would be the same, and the only difference is who benefits.
Maurice FГ©lix Charles Allais, 1988 winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics
(NobelPrize.org, 2015)
Introduction
In 2010, the IMF, along with European Central Bank and the then sixteen members of the
European Union, drew up an economic bailout package in the form of €110 billion loan to
rescue Greece from sovereign default i.e. Greece s inability to pay back its existent debt. This action
was a response to the growing fear of default from (mostly private) investors around the time of the
Great Recession and resultant European debt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Eurostat, (2013), the debt to GDP level in Greece had been over 100% since the
millennium, reaching 127% in 2009 and a staggering 146% the following year (after credit rating
agencies received reports of the growing debt ratio). This caused a crisis of confidence in the
market, which effectively shut the country out of the trade market, as risk insurance for potential
investors/creditors was so high (Wikipedia, n.d.).
The €110 billion loan came, in typical IFI fashion, with conditions which included structural
reforms, economic austerity measures, and mass privatization of government industries and assets.
It was officially launched in May of 2010 by the three aforementioned entities. (This group was

The Articles Of Confederation And The New Constitution Of...
HISTORICAL ESSAY # 1: CONFEDERATION AND CONSTITUTION Jeanette Feltmeyer
United States History/HIST 405N DeVry University January 2015 Online The Articles of
Confederation and the New Constitution of 1787 According to Keene, Cornell, and O Donnell
(2013), the Articles of Confederation were put together in 1777, but were not sanctioned for
another four years. In the Articles, a bond was formed between the Colonist States and allowed
each State the freedom to govern itself. The Congress that developed the Articles did not want to
give any absolute power to a Federal Government for fear that it would be just as oppressive as
the British government had been to the Colonies. This created a very weak Federal government
that could not tax people, have diplomatic relations, or have any military power. Due to fighting
with the British and the need to rush, the Articles were written very quickly with needs for
revisions. To pass, it had to have one hundred percent of the votes from all States. Finding that the
Articles were weak and needed to be worked on, a new Constitution Convention was held in
Philadelphia in 1787 just ten years after the Articles of the Confederation were written. This is the
Constitution that we have all come to know and continue to follow with amendments to this day.
The Constitution of the United States differed greatly from the Articles as it provided a powerful
Federal government with an executive branch. It also gave power to have foreign

Motor Tracts Lateral and Anterior corticospinal tracts all decussate (cross over) between the
cerebral cortex and the spinal cord. Samuel s motor and sensory deficits are on his right side,
therefore his CVA must involve his left cerebral hemisphere. His type of aphasia also indicates
involvement of Broca s area (also on the L cerebral cortex). The fact that he has both right side

The Issue Of Popular Support
The issue of popular support is further connected to terrorist group s specific objectives, or
goals. In general, terrorists motivated by a religious component are often associated with
apocalyptic like goals. Hoffman notes that these apocalyptic goals, are in nature more violent
when compared to the often more tangible political based goals of many secular groups. The
association between religiously motivated terrorist groups and apocalyptic like goals is well
known throughout academia. Jessica Stern s book, Terror in the Name of God further references
this connection. She is particularly careful not to equate these general end of time beliefs to one
religion in particular. Instead she notes how such beliefs often span across multiple religions by
noting their presence in various sacred texts across all three of the major Abrahamic faiths. She
further ties back to Hoffman s work when discussing how apocalyptic like goals often allow for
more violence and destruction when compared to other terrorist objectives (such as forming a new
government, or expelling a foreign nation from perceived territory). While Hoffman notes the
specific constituency that secular terrorists must appeal to, Stern ties the lack of a needed
supportive constituency back to religious terrorist goals. Because religiously motivated groups
often seek the complete destruction of society, these groups are less concerned with long term
popular support, (beyond basic funding and recruitment needs.)

is successful in creating a theoretical framework by which many intuitive arguments for qualia can
be struck down. Because of his success, an argument from introspection is difficult to make;
Dennett seems to successfully refute many of the arguments given by intuition or folk psychology.
I will adopt Eugene Park s criticism in critiquing Dennett, showing that an argument from
introspection can provide some insight into how qualia might exist. Park argues that relying on
memory comparison is incomplete, and unfairly eliminates direct apprehensibility.

This makes qualia inherently private. The fourth and last quality is direct apprehensibility to
consciousness. This describes the fact that we know everything about our own qualia, and we can
easily access all of its properties. Dennett explains that because qualia are properties of my
experiences, they therefore must be accessible to one s conscious states (229).
The coffee test case: Intuition pump 7 Chase and Sanborn Dennett uses the seventh intuition pump
to explore the relationship between qualia and reactive attitudes to those qualia. The situation
involves two coffee tasters who work for Maxwell House, ensuring that each batch is of consistent
quality. After six years of tastings, both Chase and Sanborn declare that they used to like the tasteof
the coffee, but that this is no longer the case. Chase says that he thinks that the coffee tastes the
same as it did six years ago, but that he has become a more sophisticated coffee drinker and his
more unfavorable reaction (or reactive attitude) towards the coffee has decreased his enjoyment of
it. Sanborn, however, does not like the coffee because he says his taste buds have changed, and
now the coffee tastes worse than before. Sanborn claims that his taste qualia have changed, not his
reactive attitude towards the coffee. It is difficult, however, to discern whether Chase and Sanborn
are actually correct in

House Of The Red Fish Loyalty Quotes
In the story, House of the Red Fish Tomi s situations and what he has to go through everyday
teaches many about Tomi s loyalty to others, during the whole entire book. In the book he goes
through tough times but still shows care and helps others without thinking about himself first.
There is a substantial amount of evidence to support my reasonings from the book which will be
used to explain why Tomi is so loyal.
One word that will help explain Tomi s loyalty is the word Kind which Tomi show many times
throughout the book. Tomi s kindness towards other is a very important key evidence to why
Tomi s so loyal. What makes Tomi so kind is the fact that Tomi doesn t act rude to his friends and
he always sticks by their sides. This is clearly stated in the book and one evidence in the book to
prove this is in Chapter 10 page 49 it says For Tomi, I going be Japanese. which is pretty much
trying to say that Rico would be Japanese for Tomi s sake cause Rico sees Tomi as a good
trustworthy friend that he can trust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What makes Tomi so responsible is that he is always looking for ways to help his familymake
money to live off on and is always keeping responsibilities and hiding and cleaning the family
katana in different location so people won t find it. A piece of evidence in the book to support
this piece of evidence is on page 8 it states I can quit school and get a job what this is saying is
that Tomi is willing to give up his education to help his family raise more money which comes to
the point that Tomi cares about others before himself which can be another form of loyalty. Then
Tomi trying to hide the Katana is loyal to his family because it s a family Katana thats suppose to
be cherished so by Tomi hiding it and keeping it safe till his Grandpa and Grandma come home is
a very loyal thing of Tomi to

Its importance role of providing a platform for unions to negotiate and bargain with their respective
airlines has minimized or prevented the extent of the damages strikes have on the airline industry.
Strikes, such as the one by ALPA, have been proven to be disastrous with regard to public interest.
RLA s role cannot be taken lightly as an absence of such an act would be extremely detrimental to
the airline industry and ultimately, United States commerce.
Although the RLA has proven to be effective, it is not without its shortcomings. Its loopholes and
limitation can and will be exploited as proven in the case of FedEx. Hence, it has to constantly be
reviewed and amendments by the Federal Government and Congress have to be made to the act if it
were to stay relevant with the ever changing times. Workers should be making the rights on whether
or not they want to be in a union, not their managers or even government bureaucrats.

Scrooge
Scrooge returns to the home of Jacob Marley, where Marley s ghost tells him that he is going to
have three ghosts visit him in the near future. The ghosts will give Scrooge an opportunity to

Moreover, he was a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, matured sinner!
Accordingly, his self contained personality made him solitary as an oyster. In the text, it states, that

Fluoride In High School Milk Case Study
Fluoride in school milk is now a cause for concern
While the rest of the world campaigns and fights against water fluoridation, it s now been decided
that more than 8000 children in the Blackpool area will begin receiving fluoridated milk after
councilors approved the proposal to introduce it within the town s pre existing free breakfast
scheme. The leader of the Tories however has now called this sudden decision, made by the local
government, into question.
Back in 2013, when this idea was first brought forward, concerns were immediately raised however,
due to conflicting evidence regarding fluoride and its effect on our health, it was unfortunately
carried on through. Due to more recent findings however, Councillor Tony Williams is now urging

The one saving grace of this newly implemented scheme is that parents are now able to opt out
of the mass medication should they wish. The group setting up the scheme include Blackpool
Council, Public Health England, Borrow Foundation and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS

introduce the fluoridated milk is simply a result of figures showing roughly 50% of 12 year olds
in Blackpool are suffering from some form of dental decay or have missing/filled in teeth. This is
much higher than the normal average which sits at around 33%. Councillor Graham Cain explained
a little further regarding Blackpool s poor dental health record, going on to discuss their intentions
with fluoridated milk was to reach all primary school children as they are growing up and make the
fluoride milk available to them there. While the intention is obviously a good one, the majority are

The Legacy Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is widely regarded as the lowest point in the history of U.S. foreign affairs. It
mercilessly dragged an unwilling country on a fatal ride for twenty years, all while receiving low
approval ratings and high funding. The Vietnam conflict served as an optimum environment for the
virus of controversy. No one has more experience with controversy than Heinz Alfred Kissinger. He
is the ultimate pragmatist, as embodying his philosophy of realpolitik, a diplomatic ideology based
on utilitarianism rather than international ethical standards. When one s political calling card
downplays the role of ethics in diplomacy, that individual is bound to garner a high profile
reputation. Kissinger himself has lamented the national predicament during this conflict squeezed
between the ultimate rock, his duty to keep peace, and hard place, his duty to act with the approval
of the American people. This predicament was rooted in an omnipresent opposition to Communism,
as was America s role in the entire Cold War. Cold War politics were politics of fear. That fear
drove competition, which bred a certain variety of leader a logical, calculating politician with
regard for nothing but his country s success. To avoid an uncontrollable spread of Communism
through the westernized world, some moral casualties were strewn about the wayside. However, the
American public had no trouble rolling up their collective sleeves to back this forward thinking
activist. In more recent years, some

was well known in the writing community for his achievements on the Lord of the Ringsas well as

film ever to have won the Academy Award for best picture. This goes to prove the effect that his
writing had on the people around him, the detail that he had in each book gave the reader a clear
and effective picture into the world that he had created. Tolkien loved children he had created The
Hobbit for children, Tolkien once said Children are not a class. They are merely human beings at
different stages of maturity. (Biography.com) This shows his competition for children knowing
that they are not all they same and that they shouldn t be treated like a seperate class from the
adults. He was raised in a time when children were seen and not heard . He wanted children to be
apart of life and didn t think it was right for them to be treated like they were different. Because
his son showed the same amount of curiosity and wonder for the world he finished multiple parts
of the vast world that Tolkien created some of these works included The Silmarillion, and The
Children of Hurin . These works are prequels to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, they give the
history of Middle Earth as it goes up to the point of the rings being made. At the end of his writing
career he says I wish i would never have wrote the books this is because he was always bombarded

Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay
1.0 Introduction
New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research
fulfils three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research
helps to add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a
problem existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues
that required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by
teachers has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter,
Elliot, Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14).
Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry
to secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach
towards the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their
interest in science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging
process and yet, many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career
in the field of medicine or engineering.
2.0 Aim of my research
As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the
expected outcomes. On learning a scientific concept, the students are taught to build up on the
concept and eventually look at the final scientific theory that resonates with their

African-American Independent Filmmaking History
Something I found interesting about the lecture on African American Independent Filmmaking
History, from 1915 to 1950, is how many African Americans went to entertain in the North after
the Civil War. If I had gone north, I would have wanted to be out of the spotlight. It is already
horrible enough African Americans had been in chains for so many years. Why would freedmen
go onstage and make fun of it when nothing about slavery is funny? Slavery should indeed be
addressed this country was built on immigration and slavery however, it should not be ridiculed.
Yet entertainers went onstage to make fun of themselves and of their ancestors, and everyone who
died so that they could live in freedom.
Before the Civil War, slave owners would claim... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most film portrayals I have seen, most famously Birth of a Nation, show African Americans as
lustful, lazy, violent, and unintelligent. In fact, in D. W. Griffith s entirely racist Birth of a Nation,
African Americans in the film, played by actors in blackface, continuously disrupt the peaceful
nostalgic way of life of the south after the war. Eventually, filmmakers such as Oscar Micheaux,
W. E. B. Dubois, Herb Jeffries, and Lorenzo Tucker sought to put an end to the racist films by
making race films where African Americans acted in, wrote, shot and directed their own films.
However, this wasn t enough. Some race films reverted back to racist films, where African
Americans were making fun of themselves, just to turn a profit. I liked The Cabinet of Dr.
Caligari. It reminded me of some of my favorite Tim Burton films. Burton s style is gothic and
sometimes mind bending. This makes him one of my favorite directors. His films, like Edward
Scissorhands (1990), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and Dark

ever shut down number one offenses? The New York Giants defense was ranked seventh in
2007 when they entered the playoffs. The number one ranked Steelers defense couldn t even

How Does Toni Morrison Use Biblical Allusions In Song Of...
Toni Morrison utilizes biblical references and symbolization to depict the imprisonment of
African American people after slavery in her novel, Song of Solomon. Particularly, Morrison s
characters each fall victim to themselves as a result of societal expectations in a way that parallels
the actions of the people that a character s name corresponds with. Accordingly, each character
deals with their oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some
cases, to prevent themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to.
Morrison first depicts Ruth Dead in correspondence with Ruth of the Bible in order to characterize
the oppression by which women of color had endured preceding slavery.... Show more content on

Corinthians is first depicted to the reader as a child, playing with rose petals with her sister, Lena,
right as a doctor, Mr. Smith, attempts to fly and jumps off of the roof of Mercy Hospital. The fake
rose petals that Corinthians is playing with at this time connect her to Mr. Smith as both characters
pursue dreams of freedom; in Corinthians case, pursuing love with others to escape societal
oppression, and in Mr. Smith s case, pursuing flight to escape racism. The rose petals, therefore,
begin to symbolize the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians,
however, also takes on the symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as
like them, she would [violate her own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. (Morrison 198)
Corinthians first chance at love comes in the form of, Henry Porter, a poor landworker who pays
rent to Corinthians father, Macon Dead II. Although he admits his love for her, she is initially
willing to forsake her dreams of finding love to fit in with society because having a relationship
with a poor man would diminish her image to her family. Corinthians willingness to discriminate
and forsake morality parallels the actions that the people of Corinth exhibited in First Corinthians
of the New Testament as Paul, the writer of First Corinthians, writes the book to criticize the
people of Corinth for hypocritically exhibiting prejudice towards their own people. Particularly,
Paul noted that they were rude and discourteous to poorer Christians similar to how Corinthians
rejects Henry Porter due to his lack of wealth. However, Corinthians eventually forsakes her
prejudice towards the poor and has an affair with Porter which she hides from her family. This

My Philosophy Of My Personal Philosophy In The Classroom
All students are unique individuals, who have their own way of learning. Some students, might find
it easier to learn from hands on work rather than reading materials. Others, may be capable of
learning with just reading content. Since every student learns differently, I believe there isn t just
one philosophical way of how students should be taught. I would incorporate a couple different
philosophies and teachingmechanisms into my classroom. I also believe that the environment a
child is in impacts the way they learn. Students should have a set of rules to follow, but also be
able to express what they think and feel just as well. My personal philosophyis that there are
numerous ways to teach children the materials they need to know. Pragmatism is one philosophical
theory I will follow in my classroom. Since, this helps the development of practical knowledge, my

The students will have an opportunity on the first day of class to come up with some more they
think should be followed. The rules will be as follows: Number one, be on time for class. This
will help them throughout life just as much as in the classroom. No matter what, in life you
must be on time for certain things. In a workplace you have a schedule to follow. I believe
implementing certain rules early in life gives the opportunity for success and good work ethic.
Number two will be to complete all tasks in a timely manner. This sets them up for a good work
ethic also. If all tasks are completed on time for the whole class, I will reward them by having a
game day. Number three, no talking during tests. If students are talking during a test, then that
makes it hard to see if they need a different learning method to catch on to the material. The class
overall must follow all rules or there will be no reward handed

Challenges Of Air Freight Demand And Potential Solutions...
Challenges in Air Freight Demand and Potential Solutions
1.Introduction
Air freight market is not stable and might be weak because of uncertain international trade increase
(Barnard,2015). There was fluctuation in air cargo demand over the last 10 years from 2006 to
2016 which indicates that cargo demand could be changed by some external and internal influences.
Some figures were released about worldwide air freight market and presented that air cargo
capacity increased 2.2%, comparing to 2014. While this was the 5% growth calculated by The
International Air TransportAssociation (IATA), the growth of cargo volumes in 2015 was much
slower than 2014(Barnard, 2015). However, some experts pointed out that global air freight market
get a positive growth from 2011, and it is enjoying a relatively steady growth, due to the enhanced
trade and economic recovery after the global financial crisis of 2008(Huang,2016). Because of
sluggish world trade growth, air cargo suppliers face a lot of challenges including alternative
transportation, perspective uncertainty and unexpected policy and here are some potential
solutions: improving customers service, efficiency, security and reducing negative environmental
impacts.
This essay attempts to describe current air freight market conditions, challenges in air freight
demand and generate potential solutions to increase air cargo demand. It is divided into four parts:
air freight, current demand for air freight, challenges, and potential

Three Major Supreme Court Cases
The United States Supreme Court has heard many cases since it was established in 1788, but there
were three major cases that were most prominent in my view. Though every Supreme Court case
played a major role in history, the most prominent three were Palko vs. Connecticut, Brown vs.
Board of Education, and Miranda vs. Arizona. These three cases established some major things that
we use within the government to this day, and with that, these cases play a prominent role in
United States history.
The first major case, Palko vs. Connecticut, was heard by the Supreme Court in 1937 and involved
Frank Palko, a man whom was charged with second degree murder in the state of Connecticut.
When it was heard by the state of Connecticut, his conviction was appealed to seek higher degree
conviction. The state s local statute allowed the state to appeal criminal conviction, along with the
defendant himself. Setting aside the second degree murder conviction, the courts retried and
convicted him of first degree murder. After Palko s conviction, he brought an action to claim that
the procedural statute was unconstitutional because he claimed that it violated his 5th amendment
guarantee against double jeopardy. Palko fought for protection against double jeopardy to be a
fundamental right, but his effort for this fundamental right failed. ... Show more content on

Board of Education. The decision of this case is known as one of the greatest decision of the
20th century. Charges were filed against the Topeka, Kansas school board by Oliver Brown, a

that Topeka s racial segregation is a violation of the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Packet Sniffers
A packet sniffer can only capture packet information within a given subnet. So, it s not possible
for a malicious attacker to place a packet sniffer on their home ISP network and capture network
traffic from inside your corporate network. In order to do so, the packet sniffer needs to be running
on a computerthat is inside the corporate network as well. However, if one machine on the
internal network becomes compromised through a Trojan or other security breach, the intruder
could run a packet sniffer from that machine and use the captured username and password
information in order to compromise other machines on the network. Packet sniffers are very hard
to detect because they are passive, which means the sit on background reading the network
stream and never send out data. So unless we know it s there we can t find it. One of the major
drawbacks of packet sniffers is if they can t understand data its junk. So the best way is to make
data encrypted. But there are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evaluate The Passage Of Time
As historians evaluate the passage of time, it is necessary to place various markers that signify a
change. In geologic history, these markers can be found in rock layers and often indicate a large
extinction event. In sports history, the markers can be set by equipment or by participants and
demonstrate a notable change in the way a game is played. In human history, specifically recent
human history, the markers of momentous change are usually difficult to quantify. Rarely can a
historian look back at one timeor event and claim that it was important. The best that historians can
do is break up human history into generations, or segments of time in which people were exposed
to similar forces. The generations can last few or many years, and... Show more content on

Even if the peer personality of a time follows different paths than a personal belief, a connection to

Ronald Reagan made a last minute effort to get the 1968 Republican presidential nomination. He
was defeated by Richard Nixon who became president. Reagan also tried to win the presidential
nomination again in 1976 but lost to Gerald Ford. Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy in
November 1979, after making political friends at party fund raising dinners around the country. He
easily defeated the other nominees for the Republican nomination. He chose Gerald Ford as his
vice president. But when Ford s negotiators proposed that the vice president should share
presidential powers, Reagan chose George Bush instead. During the campaign against Democratic
candidate Jimmy Carter, the biggest issue was the economy. Reagan blamed Carter for weaknesses
in foreign policy and a weak army. During the time of the election Reagan had great public support,
which made it easier to push his program through congress.
When Reagan became president he started out in a recession. 11 percent of the work force was
unemployed in fall, 1982. This recession reduced inflation significantly, but the interest rates
remained high. During the next two years the economic recovery began. The unemployment came
down, but thousands of factory jobs disappeared. The new jobs, which were mostly in service
industries, paid less, leaving inflation low.
Reagan s economic policy worked on the claim that investment in industry and spending by
consumers would

Aristotle s Definition Of Courage
Courage is something that everybody wants to have. It is an attribute of good character that makes
a person worthy of respect. A courageous person understands the danger and decides to overcome
their fear by acting according to their values. Courage is wisely balanced between the weaknesses
of cowardice and recklessness. Asking their selves, reminding about fear, enlarging the comfort
zone, and doing something to engage ones cognition helps a person be courageous without being
reckless.
No one in this world is fearless. Everyone has a fear of something or someone. Having courage of
overcoming the fear is what a person need to be able to live a perfect life. Aristotle believed that
the personification of courage is facing noble death at the hands of the enemy during ones

to serve as a mainstay for some families (103). Most urban families take for granted the

Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America
When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually
about historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. In
country music a lot of the time they talk about things that are happening in their lives like break
ups, deaths in the family or just about what they are going through. Rappers are usually talking
about another rapper, but some times it is about the difficult times they are going through. When it
comes to hard core metal music or as people call it death metal they do talk about their lives and
how they are hard, but in some peoples mind it is hard to understand. All the music that people
make has a meaning to them in some way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the
lyrics very carefully to understand what they are talking about. During September 11th, 2001 four

The way that Bernie says Stand beside her, and guide her he just wants people to not give up on

live in peace. Just like comparisons there can, and will be more differences in these songs, but key

Affirmative action is an action taken by an organization to select on the basis of race, gender, or

almost equal in proportion to do away the injustice done in the past. The Supreme Company need to

Before, going into this we need to look at the past discriminative policies adopted many companies,
responsible for many acts of discrimination against minorities. Menial and low level jobs were
offered to certain ethnic and minority groups. Even, woman was denied certain job categories on
the ground of strength and their capabilities. This discriminatory policy adopted for so many
decade has led to a situation where there cannot be a level playing field without taking certain
affirmative action. Thus short run violations of the rule are justified to create a more just
distribution of benefits. In order to make an effective policy, the supreme company should be able
to predict, as best it can, how many minorities and women it would select over time, without
adopting the policy of discrimination. These predictions would constitute the institution s
affirmative action in terms of goals (Anderson, 2002). It is for the supreme company to think in
the public interest by maintaining such policy. For example let us take a very apt example; A
Michigan farmer who grows sugar beets is relevantly different from his neighbor across the road
who grows tomatoes. If the nation thinks a modest program of redistributing income is legitimate,
then it uses a social security payout formula that gives disproportionate return to low wage earners

  • 2. John D Rockeffeller What makes John D. Rockefeller an effective leader? In his decades of business, one of the key characteristics that propelled Rockefeller to success was his strong leadership abilities. It wasn t his status, nor his age that made Rockefeller a great leader. Instead, it was his influence. People around him wanted to follow him; they were inspired by him to do more than they ever thought they were capable of. It was his ability to create a strong sense of teamwork and his own energy and passion that drove his workers and thus his company. We can say he was a leader according to the leadership framework: Be, Know, Do: he was a real professional who possessed good character traits (like competence and dignity of labour) and above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fight against independents pipelines, armed men defended land bought by Rockefeller on the planned way of the pipelines. What type of leadership did he use? It appears that, to lead his company, Rockefeller used one type of leadership to lead the workers inside the company and for the commercial practices. In both case, it was an autocratic and directive style of leadership. Even if Rockefeller seemed very close to his employees and knew how to motivate and reward them, he did not trust them at all. He saw his relationship with them as transactional, one of competing needs. However, he rarely made important decisions without seeking debate and achieving a common mind among his key associates, foreshadowing the consensus management For his commercial practices, he used too an autocratic leadership. His most flagrant sin was the ruthlessness with which he crushed competitors. For every competitor who became to be dangerous for his business, Rockefeller used all the above practices to reduce them to nothing, or he extended the olive branch to vanquished rivals, buying out their companies and drawing them into his organization, making at least some of them richer than they could have been on their own. This was not generosity but the mechanism whereby he expanded Standard Oil into a monopoly. The Rockefeller s underlying characteristics that helped him to raise the top: Several studies on Rockefeller show us the caricatured portrait of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Genetic Transformation Lab Genetic transformation occurs when an organism is modified by the introduction of new genetic information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In this lab, engineered proteins containing DNA to absorb blue light and emit green light were incorporated into E.coli bacteria. The main purpose of this lab was to transform E. coli by forcing it to uptake plasmid containing an ampicillin resistance geneand a green fluorescent protein (GFP) using complementation (adding antibiotic resistance in addition to weed out non transformed cells). To see the effects of this plasmid on cells, bacteriatreated with the plasmid were grown 3 different growth mediums: agar, agar/ampicillin(+), agar/ ampicillin(+)/PTG(+). With the plates prepared,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transformation efficiency is the efficiency by which cells can take up extracellular DNA and express genes encoded by it. The results from this lab show that this efficiency was 0. There was no ramification of findings for this lab because the expected results were not obtained. If there were successful outcomes, more research on gene insertion in bacteria for insulin production and cancer research could have been further built upon. Since the transformation efficiency calculation was 0, there were many errors that have arisen. The main problem was there was no control growth, which means there was a bacterial problem with the culture. Another error could have been problems with the broth and CaCl2 solutions. With regards to the GFP protein and its ability to be tracked using UV light, is there another protein out there that scientists and doctors can track without using a UV light, ... • 4. What Is Elizabethan Warfare Elizabethan age Warfare While Elizabeth I. ruled as queen there were three great wars: The one against Spain and two rebellions started by each a Irish Earl, one by Earl Desmond, James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, and the other one by Earl Tyrone, Hugh O Neill. All wars ended with a good outcome for the British Empire, for example the the failure of the Desmond Rebellions. First of, the most important war within Europe of that era. The war between Spain and England, which also involved fights in the Netherlands, which later were known as Dutch Rebellion. The war could be forseen at the latest when Queen Elizabeth I. was excommunicated by the Pope 1870, but also before when the Queen rejected the proposal of the Spanish King, Phillip II. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... England at that time didn t have half of this amount of ships, just 34 and over 160 merchant vessels, which normally could not be used to fight. But with some tricks the English seamen were able to defeat the whole Spanish Armada. The war ended after the next king, James I, was proclaimed king. The reasons are simple: He forbid all privateering and was also a Catholic Monarch. So Elizabeth I could never end the war against Spain herself because she never intended to do as James I did. Coming to the next fightings which all were before or during the war against Spain. The first one were the Desmond Rebellions led by James Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond in the 1870 s, 1880 s and 1890 s. The rebellion was started to free the southern province Munster of Ireland from the reign of the heretic England. The first try was from 1869 to 1873 and failed since it was ended with hundreds of rebels executed. Also all the Lords who supported Earl Desmond were exiled. • 5. Daniel In The Lion s Den Daniel In The Lion s Den A Bible story that never grows old is the one of Daniel in the lion s den. (Daniel 6:1 28) Lesson #1: In addition to the way Daniel handled mistreatment and the hateful attitudes of certain people, one can easily see the hand of God as it providentially cared for a faithful servant. Lesson #2: King Darius favored Daniel because of his excellent spirit. Now, that was quite disturbing to those jealous hearted men so they set about to destroy Daniel, and that is the way jealousy reacts especially when others are favored; nonetheless, in the process of trying to destroy a child of God, they lost their own lives. The devil uses flattery: Then these men said, we shall not find any occasion against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the Law of his God. Then these presidents and rulers assembled to the king, and said this to him: King Darius, live forever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects, and the satraps, and the officials and governors, have planned together to establish a royal law, and to make a strong ban that whoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except from you, O king, he shall be thrown into the den of lions. Lesson #5: Trouble does not always have a good influence upon a person. It sometimes changes good people for the worst, for they are never able to forget those early scars, and they become sour or cynical. But the secret of Daniel s success was: because he trusted in his God. Lesson #6: God will always win and those who remain faithful to Him will be honored; ...thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. So that, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not without fruit in the Lord. I Corinthians ... They are classified into different types battery powered AUVs, propeller driven AUVs and buoyancy driven under water gliders. Among these, underwater gliders are highly efficient compared to the other types of gliders, because they spend most of their time in stable, steady motion and they spend their energy only when they are changing their equilibrium state. There are various ways in which these gliders can use buoyancy for maneuvering. For this model the movement of these gliders is controlled by the servo actuators which move the mass relative to the vehicle s frame and their motion control is affected by varying the parameters which affect the steady motion, such as the center of mass and buoyancy. These parameters are to be controlled for attaining a steady state motion. For this a control system needs to be designed which provides feedback in response to the errors which are present in the state of motion. [1][3] The main important area of concern for the underwater gliders has been their efficiency, then motion control is the secondary concern.

  • 9. Lab And Using The Result Of The Chemiluminescence Reaction In this experiment, luminol was synthesized in the lab and used to demonstrate the result of the chemiluminescence reaction. Introduction: In criminal shows shown on television, almost common in every show are investigators inspecting crime scenes. Often when we see investigators looking for some form of a bodily fluid at a crime scene, they spray some liquid and then use a black light over the area. If bodily fluids are present, then the area appears to glow. The substance that they are spraying from the bottle is in fact luminol, and the glow that is observed is from a chemiluminescent reaction. The blood illuminates because of iron in the hemoglobin. Iron serves as the catalyst for the chemiluminescent reaction and causes it to glow . Chemiluminescence is the release of light without heat due to a chemical reaction . The release of light is from bonds that are broken, formed, or restructured2. A similar process, known as fluorescence, also produces an illumination. This chemical process on the other hand, gets its energy for light from the absorbance and release of light at different frequencies. . Experimental Procedure: To a 5 mL conical vial with a spin vane, 5 nitro 2, 3 dihydrophthalazine 1, 4 dione (.151 grams) was added. Next, sodium hydroxide (2 mL, 3M) was added to the conical vial and stirred until a reddish brown color was obtained. The fourth act of Shakespeare s play embarks on the falling action, leaving readers eager to known how the story may conclude. Many film adaptions of the famous play have been created by director s eager to create their own take on this tragedy, but the two film versions of act 4 that will be analyzed in this essay are the 1990s Franco Zeffirelli version starring, Mel Gibson and the 1996 Kenneth Branagh version. Both films are unarguably well produced productions and both are able to achieve their own unique perceptions of the play. However, Kenneth Branagh version contributes an abundance of uniqueness that sets his apart from Zeffierelli s. • 11. William Blake Poetry Analysis In general, there are various forms of literature, whom many historical authors and analysts throughout the decades have the chance to demonstrate their freedom of expression, and as well as using their imagination to conduct dramatic plots with compelling characters. In particular, there is one specific literary form that expresses the author s mood, tone and profound messages, in a way that is rhythmic, allegorical and visually creative pertaining to the human senses. In this case, the form of poetrymatches with the mentioned criteria, from its promising structural styles, such as limericks and haikus, as well as its repetitive alliteration that attracts readers to recite the poems, in an emotional manner. It is a fact that poetry is also used to enhance the author s theme, according to many descriptive literary techniques, such as similes, personification and symbolism. In particular, the theme of lovecan be portrayed in various meanings and visual representations, according to each author s contrasting perspective. Specifically, there are three poems that briefly describe three perceptions of love, whether it can be prominent in regards to the loss of virginity, the appreciation of idealistic beauty, or the wrathful feelings towards infinite sexual desire. Firstly, the poem called The Sick Rose discusses the subject of love, referring to the allegorical figures that William Blake explains in this composition. With the stars shining like little diamonds in the dark sky, my parents and I got into the car. I couldn t believe this day finally arrived, and I was going to Disneyland. We first picked up my enthusiastic friend Kaitlyn and headed to the airport where some of our Spirit Squad friends awaited, ready to get on the plane and fly out to the Happiest Place on Earth. In a few hours, we reached Disneyland where the adventure started. The enormous rides were waiting, and I felt scared at first, but then my adventurous side revealed itself, although I was still cautious. My time spent at Disneyland was priceless. Not only did I have a lot of fun, I also learned that if I don t face my fears I might miss some of the most wonderful moments in life, but that doesn t mean I can t say no sometimes. Once we reached Disneyland, we went through a Leadership program after which we headed towards our first ride. I had no idea what type of ride that was, which frightened me, I never went on big rides before. I started to feel butterflies in my stomach, I didn t know what to do. In both cases, the stimulus to the economy would be the same, and the only difference is who benefits. Maurice FГ©lix Charles Allais, 1988 winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics (NobelPrize.org, 2015) Introduction In 2010, the IMF, along with European Central Bank and the then sixteen members of the European Union, drew up an economic bailout package in the form of €110 billion loan to rescue Greece from sovereign default i.e. Greece s inability to pay back its existent debt. This caused a crisis of confidence in the market, which effectively shut the country out of the trade market, as risk insurance for potential investors/creditors was so high (Wikipedia, n.d.). HISTORICAL ESSAY # 1: CONFEDERATION AND CONSTITUTION Jeanette Feltmeyer United States History/HIST 405N DeVry University January 2015 Online The Articles of Confederation and the New Constitution of 1787 According to Keene, Cornell, and O Donnell (2013), the Articles of Confederation were put together in 1777, but were not sanctioned for another four years. In the Articles, a bond was formed between the Colonist States and allowed each State the freedom to govern itself. The Congress that developed the Articles did not want to give any absolute power to a Federal Government for fear that it would be just as oppressive as the British government had been to the Colonies. This created a very weak Federal government that could not tax people, have diplomatic relations, or have any military power. Due to fighting with the British and the need to rush, the Articles were written very quickly with needs for revisions. To pass, it had to have one hundred percent of the votes from all States. Finding that the Articles were weak and needed to be worked on, a new Constitution Convention was held in Philadelphia in 1787 just ten years after the Articles of the Confederation were written. This is the Constitution that we have all come to know and continue to follow with amendments to this day. The Constitution of the United States differed greatly from the Articles as it provided a powerful Federal government with an executive branch. It also gave power to have foreign ... In general, terrorists motivated by a religious component are often associated with apocalyptic like goals. Hoffman notes that these apocalyptic goals, are in nature more violent when compared to the often more tangible political based goals of many secular groups. The association between religiously motivated terrorist groups and apocalyptic like goals is well known throughout academia. Jessica Stern s book, Terror in the Name of God further references this connection. She is particularly careful not to equate these general end of time beliefs to one religion in particular. Instead she notes how such beliefs often span across multiple religions by noting their presence in various sacred texts across all three of the major Abrahamic faiths. She further ties back to Hoffman s work when discussing how apocalyptic like goals often allow for more violence and destruction when compared to other terrorist objectives (such as forming a new government, or expelling a foreign nation from perceived territory). While Hoffman notes the specific constituency that secular terrorists must appeal to, Stern ties the lack of a needed supportive constituency back to religious terrorist goals. Because religiously motivated groups often seek the complete destruction of society, these groups are less concerned with long term popular support, (beyond basic funding and recruitment needs.) ... • 22. Review Of Dennett s Quining Qualia Paper 1 Question 3: Dennett s Quining Qualia Daniel Dennett looks to quine qualia, or completely disprove their existence, in Quining Qualia. He is successful in creating a theoretical framework by which many intuitive arguments for qualia can be struck down. Because of his success, an argument from introspection is difficult to make; Dennett seems to successfully refute many of the arguments given by intuition or folk psychology. I will adopt Eugene Park s criticism in critiquing Dennett, showing that an argument from introspection can provide some insight into how qualia might exist. Park argues that relying on memory comparison is incomplete, and unfairly eliminates direct apprehensibility. Introduction In Quining Qualia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes qualia inherently private. The fourth and last quality is direct apprehensibility to consciousness. This describes the fact that we know everything about our own qualia, and we can easily access all of its properties. Dennett explains that because qualia are properties of my experiences, they therefore must be accessible to one s conscious states (229). The coffee test case: Intuition pump 7 Chase and Sanborn Dennett uses the seventh intuition pump to explore the relationship between qualia and reactive attitudes to those qualia. The situation involves two coffee tasters who work for Maxwell House, ensuring that each batch is of consistent quality. After six years of tastings, both Chase and Sanborn declare that they used to like the tasteof the coffee, but that this is no longer the case. Chase says that he thinks that the coffee tastes the same as it did six years ago, but that he has become a more sophisticated coffee drinker and his more unfavorable reaction (or reactive attitude) towards the coffee has decreased his enjoyment of it. Sanborn, however, does not like the coffee because he says his taste buds have changed, and now the coffee tastes worse than before. (Biography.com) This shows his competition for children knowing that they are not all they same and that they shouldn t be treated like a seperate class from the adults. He was raised in a time when children were seen and not heard . He wanted children to be apart of life and didn t think it was right for them to be treated like they were different. • 31. Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay 1.0 Introduction New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research fulfils three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research helps to add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a problem existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues that required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by teachers has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter, Elliot, Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14). Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry to secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach towards the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their interest in science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging process and yet, many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career in the field of medicine or engineering. 2.0 Aim of my research As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the expected outcomes. On learning a scientific concept, the students are taught to build up on the concept and eventually look at the final scientific theory that resonates with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

African-American Independent Filmmaking History Something I found interesting about the lecture on African American Independent Filmmaking History, from 1915 to 1950, is how many African Americans went to entertain in the North after the Civil War. If I had gone north, I would have wanted to be out of the spotlight. It is already horrible enough African Americans had been in chains for so many years. Why would freedmen go onstage and make fun of it when nothing about slavery is funny? Slavery should indeed be addressed this country was built on immigration and slavery however, it should not be ridiculed. Yet entertainers went onstage to make fun of themselves and of their ancestors, and everyone who died so that they could live in freedom. Before the Civil War, slave owners would claim... Griffith s entirely racist Birth of a Nation, African Americans in the film, played by actors in blackface, continuously disrupt the peaceful nostalgic way of life of the south after the war. Eventually, filmmakers such as Oscar Micheaux, W. E. B. Dubois, Herb Jeffries, and Lorenzo Tucker sought to put an end to the racist films by making race films where African Americans acted in, wrote, shot and directed their own films. However, this wasn t enough. Some race films reverted back to racist films, where African Americans were making fun of themselves, just to turn a profit. I liked The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. It reminded me of some of my favorite Tim Burton films. Burton s style is gothic and sometimes mind bending. This makes him one of my favorite directors. His films, like Edward Scissorhands (1990), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and Dark Shadows (2012), make me unsure of who to root for at times. Accordingly, each character deals with their oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some cases, to prevent themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to. Corinthians is first depicted to the reader as a child, playing with rose petals with her sister, Lena, right as a doctor, Mr. Smith, attempts to fly and jumps off of the roof of Mercy Hospital. The fake rose petals that Corinthians is playing with at this time connect her to Mr. Smith as both characters pursue dreams of freedom; in Corinthians case, pursuing love with others to escape societal oppression, and in Mr. Smith s case, pursuing flight to escape racism. The rose petals, therefore, begin to symbolize the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians, however, also takes on the symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as like them, she would [violate her own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. (Morrison 198) Corinthians first chance at love comes in the form of, Henry Porter, a poor landworker who pays rent to Corinthians father, Macon Dead II. There was fluctuation in air cargo demand over the last 10 years from 2006 to 2016 which indicates that cargo demand could be changed by some external and internal influences. Some figures were released about worldwide air freight market and presented that air cargo capacity increased 2.2%, comparing to 2014. While this was the 5% growth calculated by The International Air TransportAssociation (IATA), the growth of cargo volumes in 2015 was much slower than 2014(Barnard, 2015). Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually about historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. All the music that people make has a meaning to them in some way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the lyrics very carefully to understand what they are talking about. These predictions would constitute the institution s affirmative action in terms of goals (Anderson, 2002). It is for the supreme company to think in the public interest by maintaining such policy.
