Women History Reflection
After learning about Women s History, my eyes were not only opened up to the difficult challenges
faced in the past, but opened up to see the beauty of today. This Women s History class altered my
perspectives, introduced me to significant changes, and gave me the knowledge to know what my
obligations are as a woman today.
My perspectives have changed towards multiple different events in Women s History. One of the most
interesting topics, and biggest events to me personally, would be in regards to women s rights. The
reasoning for this includes my personal view change on the Equal Rights Amendment itself. I have
been pro women s equal rights my entire life, and that will never change. However, I have also been
pro Equal Rights Amendment, and that changed from the teachings in this class. From now knowing
how important the role was that women had on society, there would not be anything I would change.
We needed women to be home to raise and care for the children, clean the house, and cook. It was not
always possible for both men and women to work when kids were needing to be raised. Similarly,
mentioned in this book, and throughout the teachings, was the importance of the women s role to the
civil war. If women and men were completely equal, both the men and women would be drafted into
the war. We would not have had the women to nurse and care for those wounded. If we did, there
would be a very limited amount. The book states in Chapter 5 Primary Sources, The most

Analysis Of Serving In Florida By Barbara Ehrenreich
As a social critic, Barbara Ehrenreich is able to provide opinions about societal issues. Regardless of
her opinion, the audiences she reaches out to, take her stand point on what she writes about. In the
excerpt, Serving In Florida , from her research book, Ehrenreich vividly describes her experience as a
server at a restaurant. This chapter is specifically for the middle and upper classes to show that
minimum wage isn t enough for someone to be living off of. Ehrenreich reaches out to this specific
audience because they aren t able to experience the harsh conditions they come across during their
daily lives. Since the audience was oblivious to these conditions, Ehrenreich utilizes this to thoroughly
describe her experiences as a server. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ehrenreich s observations, the employees don t have a break room, because there are no
breaks at Jerry s . The middle to upper class audience she is reaching for would be surprised at this
because they tend to have jobs that provide them with a break room and a break from their job. This
acknowledges that even though that there are available jobs for the lower class, they aren t always fair
towards the employees. Ehrenreich also shifts back to the disgusting conditions of her work place by
comparing the area outside of the bathroom to the structure of a human stomach. Assuming that the
stomach of a human isn t a pleasant place, Ehrenreich describes the, peri toilet area for what it is used
for by the employees; a smoking area. The employees rely on this area to be vacant when they have to
get a smoke in before they have to get back to work. Since the employees aren t allowed a break, they
have to make the environment of Jerry s worse, not only for them, but their customers as well.
Ehrenreich places blame on the diversified staff that she works with. The, multinational mélange of
cooks; the dishwashers, who are all Czechs [there]; the servers, who are American natives are the
coworkers she blames for making the atmosphere of Jerry s musty and making, oxygen...an occasional
pollutant . Oxygen

Bosnian Genocide Essay
In 1992 when Bosnia declared its independence from the Yugoslav, Orthodox Christian Serbians were
losing power to the Muslim Bosniaks. The Bosnian Serb forces did not want to be outnumbered by
Bosniaks at all. Especially when it came to things like politics. The Serbs that lived in Bosnia
Herzegovina felt threatened by the numerous amount of Muslim power, so they decided to
exterminate them. This resulted in a genocide. A genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of
people. This genocide is known as the Bosnia and Herzegovina Genocide.
The Bosnian and Herzegovinian Genocide took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina, (Bosnia), and
Serbia. Before Bosnia became independent, they started to elect their first president. At the time there

They organized their genocide by state, (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Their goal was to exterminate all
Bosniaks, (Muslim people who lived in Bosnia), and Croats, (Croatians who lived in Bosnia). That
made the Bosniaks and Croats the victim. They were being targeted because ever since Bosnia broke
away from Yugoslavia, Serbians had less power.
Bosnia breaking away from Yugoslavia is the catalyst for this genocide. When they broke away, the
Serbs living in Bosnia didn t have the population power, political power, or religious power. They
figured that if they just took out all of the Bosniaks, (who had the majority power at the time), then
they would be better off. So, that s what they did. They began their extermination process in early
May of 1992 by attacking a Bosniak dominated town.
Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of it. The Serbians quickly started to gain speed in their
extermination process. The whole process of wiping out all Bosniaks and Croats was expected to take
about five years. But, in 1994 NATO forces initiated air strikes against the Bosnian Serbs to stop the
murders/ attacks. In December of 1955 the conflict was ended and there was a force created to
maintain ceasefire. Over the course of those three years Bosniaks and Croats were tortured, killed, and
starved by the

Color In The Giver
In the book, ¨The Giver¨, Jonas lives in a utopian society where there are no realistic characteristics of
the everyday life. In his utopian society, there is no warfare, choices, differentiation, memories, or
color. Yet, before being given his important assignment of ¨Receiver of Memory¨, Jonas sees an apple
change color when tossing it back and forth with Asher. Flashing forward to after he is given his
assignment, the Giver explains to Jonas the concept of color, along with the memory of it. This
separates Jonas from the rest of his perfect society because he is the only one that can visualize color
in his everyday life. Nevertheless, the apple is a symbol of the uniqueness and the difference in Jonas

Mammography And Breast Cancer
Introduction
Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant cells form in the breast tissue. There are many different
kinds of breast cancer, which is determined by which cells in the breast that are cancerous. The
lobules, ducts, and connective tissue are the three main parts that make up the breast. Most cancer
starts in the ducts and lobules with the most common being invasive ductal carcinoma and invasive
lobular carcinoma. In invasive ductal the cancer cells grow outside the ducts of the breast into other
parts of the breast tissue and may metastasize to other parts of the body. Invasive lobular cancer starts
in the lobules of the breast and spreads to the nearby breast tissue or other parts of the body.

Another limitation is that many of the articles did not report outcomes separately for the average
women and those who are high risk leaving room for estimates to be biased. Quantitative estimates of
outcomes were based from a relatively simple approach which could cause over or underestimation of
mortality reduction. In conclusion, this study found that breast cancer screenings are associated with a
20% reduction in mortality rates among women of any age at average risk.
Each one of these articles provides information to support breast cancer screening but it also provides
evidence that many false positives have been brought on by over use of screening. Women need a
health professional who will not only provide information about breast cancer screening but also
provide evidence of why screenings have been changed to after the age of 50 years old and biennially.

open conflict between members can be commonplace. There will be challenges to original objectives
and rules. Through this targets can become more realistic and trust is created throughout the team
members, which is beneficial in the long run. There may be disagreements over issues within the
team, with some members agreeing with one view point and while others agree with a differing view,
causing a split within the team. Conflict can also manifest over leadership of the team.  Stage 3 :
Norming This can be classed as a settling in period, where some agreement has been reached and trust
has started to develop. People have started to think of themselves as a team, and new procedures and
roles have been implemented and accepted, enabling the team to function and members to work
together. Ideas are exchanged freely and members are willing to listen and accept other member s
points of view.  Stage 4 : Performing At this stage the team will be harmoniously and they will have
resolved any task or personal issues. Inner related roles will be established, and any issues between
members will have been resolved so all their energy can be put into resolving the task. When problems
arise a solution is found and the team constructively puts all their efforts to perform its task

Perfume Advert Analysis
For my perfume advertisement, Eternity, I have used numerous techniques to persuade the audience to
purchase this product. Firstly, I have used a well known couple for the main background setup. Since
these couples are close together, this makes the perfume more memorable for consumers, as these
famous subjects are used to promote the product. This also creates a positive feeling about the
company and the advertisement which is more influential, entertaining and appealing to the audience.
The couple is used as intimate and romantic connotations which is a successful tactic in persuading
the audience to purchase the perfume. In the advert, we can see a man on the right hand side wearing a
black shirt with a black shadow cast upon him to depict the idea of the man not being too muscular or
dominating the advert. The man s body language is showing affection to the lady as his eyes are gazed
low, followed by the gentle expression on his face. This displays positive emotions towards the
woman as he portrays a romantic relationship by which the woman is adored. The lady on the other
hand, has her right hand on the man s chest followed by the elegant and feminine body posture. The
woman s hair is open loose with cosmetic makeup on her face. This shows that the lady wants to
impress her man and are all signs of affection. The message to the audience is too be attracted to your
partner just like the ones used for the advert by using Eternity as their fragrance.

The Collapse Of Complex Societies
The word collapse has a number of connotations associated with it. Some view it exclusively the
degradation of societies of the highest order. Others see it as the complete disintegration of economic
prospects and commerce. Some even think of it political ruin with the demise of states and ruling
factions that maintain order. The most general definition for collapse can includes elements from these
three viewpoints. American anthropologist and historian Joseph A. Tainter is best known for his
writings on societal collapses. In 1988 he published his most widely recognized work, The Collapse of
Complex Societies. The core of Tainter s argument in this work stipulates that societal success
primarily hinges on problem solving institutions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of these seemingly invincible dynasties all went on to eventually collapse for a myriad of
reasons. The Western Roman Empire was marked by its vast territorial supremacy, as it conquering its
neighbors to absorb their energy surpluses whether in agricultural outputs, mineral resources, or
human capital. With the rapid growth of the Empire, the cost of maintaining order, production, and
other logistical elements grew as well. This cost grew to the point there simply weren t enough
resources to defend against invasion especially when disgruntled peasants welcomed the removal of
Roman control. The Maya empire failed due to the burdens of competitive warfare between the
various city states of the region. This was unsustainable especially given the population was already
weakened by crop failure and drought. The Chaco Empire failed due to the communities coming to the
conclusion that the costs paid to the central faction to be redistributed outweighed the benefits gained
so they departed one after another. (Chippindale 1) Tainter main argument is that the collapse of
societies stemmed from the failure of problem solving institutions. That once these issues arose in the
empires, the ruling factions were unable to provide solutions or relief that would provide stability and
support the citizens. Furthermore, the societies collapsed they couldn t adapt the

A Summary Of The Torah And Tao Te Ching
Ancient text like the Torah and Tao Te Ching reveals what it means to be a successful human. ¬There
is a God who oversees the life of humans and determines if they have lived successfully. The Gods
have all the power so it is necessary to get on their good side. The Torah is the story of creation and
the beginning of time. The Tao Te Ching is the great book of the way of virtue. The Torah and Lao
Tzu s Tao Te Ching show that to be a successful human being it is necessary to be loyal to the God
figure in their religion, through following covenants, taking journeys, and being content with what is
given. Being a successful human in both The Torah and Tao Te Ching requires following the greatest

All they need to do is praise the highest figure and they will be rewarded. Both the story from the
Torah and Tao Te Ching are similar and show the ideal human life because they both have characters
who get rewarded for respecting and follow the highest figure. These show that to be successful, it is a
necessity to follow these Gods.
In addition to following covenants, a successful life includes a journey in honor of someone. Taking a
journey in the honor of someone shows the selflessness in a person and the care they have for others.
Moses was a person in the Torah that was considered a successful person because he took a journey in
honor of another man. The Torah reads, I led you for forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes did
not fall from you in tatters nor your sandals from your feet; (Deuteronomy 29:4). This is the Lord
talking to Moses. Moses took a 40 year journey in honor of the Lord to show his faith towards him
and show he will do whatever he wants of him. The lord keeps Moses safe for these 40 years by not
letting him lose the protection of his clothing. They stayed in tack for 40 years. The Lord went to test
Moses to see if he could withstand this journey. Moses did all that he was asked and was successful
because of his loyalty throughout his Journey. Similarly, in the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu writes The

Multiprocessor systems have been used for many years, and high end programmers are familiar with
the techniques to exploit multiprocessors for higher performance levels.
In recent years a number of other techniques to further exploit TLP have been discussed and some
products have been announced. One of these techniques is chip multiprocessing (CMP), where two
processors are put on a single die. The two processors each have a full set of execution and
architectural resources. The processors may or may not share a large on chip cache. CMP is largely
orthogonal to conventional multiprocessor systems, as you can have multiple CMP processors in a
multiprocessor configuration. Recently announced processors incorporate two processors on each die.
However, a CMP chip is significantly larger than the size of a single core chip and therefore more
expensive to manufacture; moreover, it does not begin to address the die size and power
considerations.
Another approach is to allow a single processor to execute multiple threads by switching between
them. Time slice multithreading is where the processor switches between software threads after a fixed
time period. Time slice multithreading can result in wasted execution slots but can effectively
minimize the effects of long latencies to

Analysis Of A Separate Peace By John Knowles
John Knowles novel, A Separate Peace, is the story of two teenage boys, Gene and Finny, and their
friendship while growing into adulthood. This story takes place during World War II , at a sheltered
New England all boys boarding school. The characters must find a balance in coping with the reality
of the war, and trying to live out their childhood as long as possible. Knowles exemplifies how people
naturally betray others due to their inner darkness, and therefore peace can ultimately never be
achieved until the evil in one s own heart is accepted. Throughout the course of events, Gene has
leading suspicion that he and his supposed best friend actually hate each other. He comes to the
rationalization that at least, the two are serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thinking back on his mistakes, Gene understands that his jealousy of Finny has caused his
wrongdoings, when really it was all in his head. Gene wants to relieve his guilt, and he admits, I
jounced the limb, I did it. (Knowles 70). At first, Gene feels a burden, but escapes it by creating a lie
in his mind which he believes as the truth. However, when reality catches up to him, his just decision
is to confess to Finny. The guilt is too much to handle, and would lead Gene to be his own worst
enemy if he does not face his mistakes. Gene has admitted his wrongdoing, but Finny s disbelief
creates a sense of guilt that he was trying to lift from his shoulders. Finny does not want to believe the
truth, that his best friend s inner hatred was so strong, resulting in a serious injury. Creating an
alternate reality is often easier than facing the truth, however doing so will only have short term relief.
Gene eventually gives up on his alternative reality, and admits to himself, I owe no one anything, I
owe it to myself (Knowles 102). Gene s maturity has grown immensely, and he recognizes the
darkness in his heart, and comprehends that he was only scared of the truth before. Gene addresses the
burden on he and finny s shoulders and knows he must confront and confess his sin to accept his own

The religious fundamentalism may have been the key factor in the transformation of the Republican
Party. It is the largest single bloc in their voting base. The GOP bases themselves and others off of
religious beliefs. The Party is Over states, that the Republican Party cuts slack to the candidates that
claimed to have been washed by of the lamb and reborn into a more Christian life. From this they

took these previous statements as an inefficient way to choose if a candidate is good for presidency.
What if the candidate was involved with multiple accounts of misdemeanors? Robertson, the founder
of the Christian Coalition stated: Those people in the Republican primary have got to lay off this stuff.
They re forcing their leaders, the front runners, into position that will mean they lose the general

Even Robertson agrees with the fact that judging a candidate based off of their religious beliefs is no

Effects Of Colonization In Africa
J. Klíma argues that Africa was the most affected by colonization. Colonialism established artificial
states which did not respect ethnic, natural and cultural units. Massive decolonization of the countries
in Africa commenced mainly after the Second World War. The Anglophone countries struggled for
their independence more or less successfully. Great Britain began to retreat from the Empire shortly
after 1945. The British government fell back because they could not afford financing of the
administration, army and other important issues to maintain their distant possessions. There was not
only lack of interest to engage in African possessions, there was also general persuasion of
illegitimacy of colonialism. It is confirmed by United Nations resolution (Declaration on the Granting
of Independence to Colonial Countries and People). According to this resolution, Recognizing the
passionate yearning for freedom in all dependent peoples and the decisive role of such peoples in the
attainment of their independence, and Recognizing that the peoples of the world ardently desire the

Open Source Productivity Tools That Run On Windows
Open Source Productivity Tools that run on Windows
Performers frequently describe a system of rules as being open source or free software. The term open
source adverts to thing that people can change and share because of the reason that, its design is
publicly approachable. This term developed in the context of software evolution to delegate a
particular approach to make computer programs. Nowadays, nevertheless, open source delegates a
wider set of values that we call as the open source way.
Open source tasks, products, or enterprises clench and observe rules of open exchange, cooperative

Irrespective of whether a program is open source or not is not the big deal to developers, it finally
concerns for users, too. In short, open source software permits, give users freedoms they would not

Idea of Open Source
Suppose that, a program is open source and its source code is freely accessible to its users. Then, its
users and anyone other can have the power to yield this source code, change it as per their
requirement, and dispense their own variants of the program. People also have the power to dispense
as many transcripts of the fresh program as they want. Anyone can utilize the program for any intent;

Foreign Exchange Rate Sensitivity and Stock Price
FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE SENSITIVITY AND STOCK PRICE : ESTIMATING ECONOMIC
EXPOSURE OF TURKISH COMPANIES
INTRODUCTION
Variability in exchange rate is a major source of macroeconomic uncertainity affecting firms. After the
1970 s, the rapid expansion in international trade and adoption of floating exchange rate regimes by
many countries led to increase exchange rate volatility. The firm s exposure to exchange rate risk
increased.
In the literature three types of exposure under floating exchange rate regimes are identified; economic,
translation and transaction. Translation and transaction exposures are accounting based and defined in
terms of the book values of assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currency. Economic exposure

His finding did not support that hypothesis. Firms did not benefit from a depreciation of the home
country. On the contrary a significant decline in their market share of industry was found in a
depreciation of the home currency.
Bodner and Gentry (1993) examined industry level exposures for three countries, Canada, Japan and
USA. They revealed that some industries in all three countries had significant exposure.
Choi and Prasad 1995 developed a model and examined the exchange rate sensitivity of 409 US
multinational firms. Their findings indicated that change in exchange rate affected firm value. They
found that 60 percent of firms had significant exchange rate exposure.
Domely and Sheehy (1996) found contemporaneous relation between the foreign exchange rate and
the market value of large exporters in their study.
Miller Reuer (1998) conducted a study on the implications of differences in strategy and industry
structure for firms economic exposures to foreign exchange rate movements. According to their
results, 13 17 % of US manufacturing firms exposed for foreign exchange rate movements. Also they
indicated that foreign direct investment reduces economic exposure to foreign exhange rate

Hunt For Red October Essay
The Hunt For Red October is a film directed by John McTiernan and produced by Mace Neufield and
Jerry Sherlock. The movie is based on the novel of the same name, which was written by Tom Clancy.
The film is about how CIA analyst Jack Ryan, played by Alec Baldwin, must prove that the rogue
Soviet Naval Captain, Marko Ramius, played by Sean Connery, is not planning an attack on the
United States and that his intentions are truly different. The film is set during the Cold War, in which
tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union are high. This adds to the overall suspense of
the movie. The Hunt For Red October is a film that really pushes your perspective of what a movie is

They only see the plot and the characters and call it good. Yet, they forget to recognize the other
aspects of the film. In this film, I ve noticed quite a bit of literary aspects of the picture. The plot of the
movie is what makes the movie what it is, however there are more ideas and things that go into the
plot. The first thing that I noticed was the realistic nature of the plot. A plot like this wouldn t work in
a different time period but with it being set during the Cold War, it makes sense, however, the nature
of the characters is one that would make one question it. When we look back at history and the cold
war, we see that in that time period, there was a lot of patriotism on both sides and how very close we
were to nuclear war. In this case, I find it a bit weird that Marko Ramius wanted to go to the United
States. Maybe he was against the ideology of the Soviet Union, but even then it is a bit weird. What
the plot does is it leaves everything resolved, just what a plot should do. The dialogue in the film can
be viewed as realistic due to the nature of the plot, causing one to be confused at times due to topics of
discussion involving the submarines or anything along the subject line. The overall theme that I felt in
the movie was the theme of discovery. Throughout the motion picture, we see Jack Ryan try and find
the Red October, leading me to the theme of

Thomas Alva Edison, born in 1847, invented many things, including the phonograph in 1877. In 1888
Edison announced that he was working on an instrument which does for the eye what the phonograph

kinetiscope was a cabinet with a peephole to watch min films playing inside that were about 90
seconds long. The customer would only have to drop a penny in the slot and look through the
viewfinder at the image. The first pictures that played in kinetiscopes were of dancing girls,

Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Law Enforcement
In today s law enforcement environment everyone agrees that departments should be more effective
and efficient, but how do we measure and gauge this? A good evaluation of a department should
include the documentation of activities and performance within it. The difference between efficient
and effective is that efficiency refers to how well you do something, whereas effectiveness refers to
how useful it is. The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines effectiveness as: producing a result
that is wanted or having an intended effect. Efficiency is defined as: the ability to do something or
produce something without wasting materials, time, or energy. As an example, if a Law Enforcement
Agency is not doing well in the area of use of force and has had several complaints over a period of
time, the department decides to retrain their officers on new equipment and practices. The training
goes well they train their officers and tests show they understand the training well. But overall the
training does not improve. In this case the department s strategy was efficient but not effective. On the
other hand, if the training conducted showed an improvement and understanding as well as less
complaints of use of force, the department s strategy was both efficient and effective.

Palace At Knossos
Question Set #4: Gardner, Ch. 4
1. Cite at least three different functions that the Palace at Knossos served.
The Palace at Knossos served as a landmark with mythological implications as it was said to be the
home of King Minos and also gave rise to the important myth of Theseus. The maze like system of the
palace was used to tell the story of Theseus who slew the Minotaur while being hunted by the creature
in the Palace s labyrinth. The Palace was also used for storing goods like wine, grain, oil, and honey
which were kept in large jars in the magazine rooms. Furthermore, the palace complex served as a
government building as it had administrative and workrooms on the north and south of the east west
corridor. Interestingly, the palace may have also had an entertainment room as there is a theateresque
design with steps that may have been used as seating, although its purpose is not entirely known.

Mycenaeans were were concerned with warfare and advanced their civilizations through conquest, as

Symbol Of Knowledge In Alphaville
In Jean Luc Godard s Alphaville, a secret agent, Lemmy Caution, infiltrates a city controlled by a
super computer called Alpha60. He is sent to Alphaville posing as a journalist to investigate its
residents and encounters a conflict of human emotion versus logical machines.
The weapon of choice for both man and machine is knowledge that the other does not possess. This
knowledge is marked throughout the film by Caution s observations as he deciphers how Alpha 60
reinforces logical thinking by eliminating emotional ideas. These observations are Godard s
epistemological representation of what can only be known to humans and never grasped by
computers.
Caution has knowledge of poetic language important in his defense against Alpha60 s interrogation.

begins to learn these words she becomes confused and emotional, a state of being punished in

Caution understands Alpha60 s control over her.
The books, in the context of Alphaville, contain a language known only to the secret agents and are a

poetic meaning. Another book, the dictionary, which replaces the bible in every hotel room, is
Alpha60 s way of censoring language and controlling thought.
The dictionary also marks knowledge as something found in a language of exact definition, a form of
linear or logical thinking. This contrasts knowledge found in the poetic use of language where words
take on abstract forms and meaning. As Natasha says, the writers of books such as the Capital of Pain

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay
Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they help
each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of range
could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad hoc
networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to
the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure
(base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing
protocols for this type of network.
Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security.

Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys
between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and
digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the
network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message
routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability
(time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it
adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue
when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one
way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each
node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational
capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC
key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the
TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source.
Route Discovery consist of two parts: Route Request and Route Reply. Route request message is

By all means, shopping can be difficult for children for many reasons. To start, they are very
impatient. They do not want to wait for their parents to get done shopping, whatever they want they
expect to get it now.. When checking out at the register everything is in their reach. They are then
grabbing things and throwing that in the cart as well. Also, it is difficult with children shopping
because sometimes they can be combative. If a child does not get what they want then they will most
of the time throw themselves down and have a tantrum. It makes the parents look so bad, as well as
the child who is acting out. It is not good to be combative because then someone may get hurt. After
all, children shoppers do not care how much anything cost. They will just pick any and everything up

Crime Is A Factor Of Life Essay
Crime is a factor of life that is all around us at any given moment. It has become more prevalent in our
society over the past few decades and occurs every single day all over the country. There are many
reasons and factors that influence a person to engage in criminal activity. If you really think about it,
everyone at some point in their life has probably committed a crime even if it is just a simple one like
running a red light or drinking before being of legal age. Some people may never get caught
committing a crime while others are caught and have to ultimately pay the consequences.
The individual who committed the crime may not even be a bad person. They may have done it
because they felt like that s what they had to do in order to survive or to help their families in a time of
need. That s why researchers are always coming up with different theories and hypotheses to figure
out why crimes are committed and what leads people to engage in certain types of crime like selling
drugs or prostitution. A criminologist, Robert Agnew, talks about the different strains on a person that
could result in them engaging in criminal activity. It helps explain why some people do the things that
they do because of different characteristics of their lives. Depending on how a person is raised and the
environment they live in could lead to some sort of deviant behavior most likely in their adolescent
years. If a person feels like they are struggling to get through life while other around

Climate Change As A Threat Multiplier
National security, in the 21st century, has shifted from the focus on traditional threats (armed forces)
(Siddiqi, 2013) to the integration of new threats and challenges, which have global consequences as
the world evolves. Climate change has been increasingly identified as a serious contemporary security
threat (McDonald, 2013), nationally and globally, instead of an environmental concern (Dupont
Pearman, 2008). This challenge presents a long term global threat, with substantial human, national
and transnational security repercussions (Wuebbles, Chitkara Matheny, 2014). Furthermore, Wuebbles
et al. (2014) acknowledge climate change as a threat multiplier, seen to exacerbate stresses (i.e.
conflict, instability and poverty), enhancing the global importance of the issue as recognised as a
critical national security risk. In perceiving climate change as a threat multiplier, this essay will
recognise how the issues cumulative progression and consequences interacts with existing security
issues, directly and indirectly challenging national security (Brown, Hammill McLeman, 2007).
Secondly, the long term risk of climate change will be discussed, analysing the importance of
implementing adaptation strategies for risk protection and vulnerability reduction. Finally, being a
transnational security threat, global cooperation will be addressed, stressing the importance of
internationalism and collaboration to protect against this evolving threat to national and

way the team does sad and depressed about the loss many fans will take the team loss and count as a

want to show that team they want them to win, even if that means screaming at the top of their lungs

  • 2. Women History Reflection After learning about Women s History, my eyes were not only opened up to the difficult challenges faced in the past, but opened up to see the beauty of today. This Women s History class altered my perspectives, introduced me to significant changes, and gave me the knowledge to know what my obligations are as a woman today. My perspectives have changed towards multiple different events in Women s History. One of the most interesting topics, and biggest events to me personally, would be in regards to women s rights. The reasoning for this includes my personal view change on the Equal Rights Amendment itself. I have been pro women s equal rights my entire life, and that will never change. However, I have also been pro Equal Rights Amendment, and that changed from the teachings in this class. From now knowing how important the role was that women had on society, there would not be anything I would change. We needed women to be home to raise and care for the children, clean the house, and cook. It was not always possible for both men and women to work when kids were needing to be raised. Similarly, mentioned in this book, and throughout the teachings, was the importance of the women s role to the civil war. If women and men were completely equal, both the men and women would be drafted into the war. We would not have had the women to nurse and care for those wounded. If we did, there would be a very limited amount. The book states in Chapter 5 Primary Sources, The most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Serving In Florida By Barbara Ehrenreich As a social critic, Barbara Ehrenreich is able to provide opinions about societal issues. Regardless of her opinion, the audiences she reaches out to, take her stand point on what she writes about. In the excerpt, Serving In Florida , from her research book, Ehrenreich vividly describes her experience as a server at a restaurant. This chapter is specifically for the middle and upper classes to show that minimum wage isn t enough for someone to be living off of. Ehrenreich reaches out to this specific audience because they aren t able to experience the harsh conditions they come across during their daily lives. Since the audience was oblivious to these conditions, Ehrenreich utilizes this to thoroughly describe her experiences as a server. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Ehrenreich s observations, the employees don t have a break room, because there are no breaks at Jerry s . The middle to upper class audience she is reaching for would be surprised at this because they tend to have jobs that provide them with a break room and a break from their job. This acknowledges that even though that there are available jobs for the lower class, they aren t always fair towards the employees. Ehrenreich also shifts back to the disgusting conditions of her work place by comparing the area outside of the bathroom to the structure of a human stomach. Assuming that the stomach of a human isn t a pleasant place, Ehrenreich describes the, peri toilet area for what it is used for by the employees; a smoking area. The employees rely on this area to be vacant when they have to get a smoke in before they have to get back to work. Since the employees aren t allowed a break, they have to make the environment of Jerry s worse, not only for them, but their customers as well. Ehrenreich places blame on the diversified staff that she works with. The, multinational mélange of cooks; the dishwashers, who are all Czechs [there]; the servers, who are American natives are the coworkers she blames for making the atmosphere of Jerry s musty and making, oxygen...an occasional pollutant . • 4. Bosnian Genocide Essay In 1992 when Bosnia declared its independence from the Yugoslav, Orthodox Christian Serbians were losing power to the Muslim Bosniaks. The Bosnian Serb forces did not want to be outnumbered by Bosniaks at all. Especially when it came to things like politics. The Serbs that lived in Bosnia Herzegovina felt threatened by the numerous amount of Muslim power, so they decided to exterminate them. This resulted in a genocide. A genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people. This genocide is known as the Bosnia and Herzegovina Genocide. The Bosnian and Herzegovinian Genocide took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina, (Bosnia), and Serbia. Before Bosnia became independent, they started to elect their first president. At the time there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They organized their genocide by state, (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Their goal was to exterminate all Bosniaks, (Muslim people who lived in Bosnia), and Croats, (Croatians who lived in Bosnia). That made the Bosniaks and Croats the victim. They were being targeted because ever since Bosnia broke away from Yugoslavia, Serbians had less power. Bosnia breaking away from Yugoslavia is the catalyst for this genocide. When they broke away, the Serbs living in Bosnia didn t have the population power, political power, or religious power. They figured that if they just took out all of the Bosniaks, (who had the majority power at the time), then they would be better off. So, that s what they did. They began their extermination process in early May of 1992 by attacking a Bosniak dominated town. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of it. The Serbians quickly started to gain speed in their extermination process. The whole process of wiping out all Bosniaks and Croats was expected to take about five years. But, in 1994 NATO forces initiated air strikes against the Bosnian Serbs to stop the murders/ attacks. In December of 1955 the conflict was ended and there was a force created to maintain ceasefire. Over the course of those three years Bosniaks and Croats were tortured, killed, and starved by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another limitation is that many of the articles did not report outcomes separately for the average women and those who are high risk leaving room for estimates to be biased. Quantitative estimates of outcomes were based from a relatively simple approach which could cause over or underestimation of mortality reduction. In conclusion, this study found that breast cancer screenings are associated with a 20% reduction in mortality rates among women of any age at average risk. Each one of these articles provides information to support breast cancer screening but it also provides evidence that many false positives have been brought on by over use of screening. Women need a health professional who will not only provide information about breast cancer screening but also provide evidence of why screenings have been changed to after the age of 50 years old and biennially. Firstly, I have used a well known couple for the main background setup. Since these couples are close together, this makes the perfume more memorable for consumers, as these famous subjects are used to promote the product. This also creates a positive feeling about the company and the advertisement which is more influential, entertaining and appealing to the audience. The couple is used as intimate and romantic connotations which is a successful tactic in persuading the audience to purchase the perfume. In the advert, we can see a man on the right hand side wearing a black shirt with a black shadow cast upon him to depict the idea of the man not being too muscular or dominating the advert. The man s body language is showing affection to the lady as his eyes are gazed low, followed by the gentle expression on his face. This displays positive emotions towards the woman as he portrays a romantic relationship by which the woman is adored. The lady on the other hand, has her right hand on the man s chest followed by the elegant and feminine body posture. The woman s hair is open loose with cosmetic makeup on her face. Multiprocessor systems have been used for many years, and high end programmers are familiar with the techniques to exploit multiprocessors for higher performance levels. In recent years a number of other techniques to further exploit TLP have been discussed and some products have been announced. One of these techniques is chip multiprocessing (CMP), where two processors are put on a single die. The two processors each have a full set of execution and architectural resources. The processors may or may not share a large on chip cache. CMP is largely orthogonal to conventional multiprocessor systems, as you can have multiple CMP processors in a multiprocessor configuration. Recently announced processors incorporate two processors on each die. However, a CMP chip is significantly larger than the size of a single core chip and therefore more expensive to manufacture; moreover, it does not begin to address the die size and power considerations. Another approach is to allow a single processor to execute multiple threads by switching between them. Time slice multithreading is where the processor switches between software threads after a fixed time period. Time slice multithreading can result in wasted execution slots but can effectively minimize the effects of long latencies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Knowles exemplifies how people naturally betray others due to their inner darkness, and therefore peace can ultimately never be achieved until the evil in one s own heart is accepted. However, when reality catches up to him, his just decision is to confess to Finny. The guilt is too much to handle, and would lead Gene to be his own worst enemy if he does not face his mistakes. Gene has admitted his wrongdoing, but Finny s disbelief creates a sense of guilt that he was trying to lift from his shoulders. Finny does not want to believe the truth, that his best friend s inner hatred was so strong, resulting in a serious injury. Creating an alternate reality is often easier than facing the truth, however doing so will only have short term relief. Gene eventually gives up on his alternative reality, and admits to himself, I owe no one anything, I owe it to myself (Knowles 102). Colonialism established artificial states which did not respect ethnic, natural and cultural units. Massive decolonization of the countries in Africa commenced mainly after the Second World War. The British government fell back because they could not afford financing of the administration, army and other important issues to maintain their distant possessions. A good evaluation of a department should include the documentation of activities and performance within it. • 29. Symbol Of Knowledge In Alphaville In Jean Luc Godard s Alphaville, a secret agent, Lemmy Caution, infiltrates a city controlled by a super computer called Alpha60. He is sent to Alphaville posing as a journalist to investigate its residents and encounters a conflict of human emotion versus logical machines. The weapon of choice for both man and machine is knowledge that the other does not possess. This knowledge is marked throughout the film by Caution s observations as he deciphers how Alpha 60 reinforces logical thinking by eliminating emotional ideas. These observations are Godard s epistemological representation of what can only be known to humans and never grasped by computers. Caution has knowledge of poetic language important in his defense against Alpha60 s interrogation. He is arrested for trying to take photographs of Professor Van Braun, the computer s creator and taken to Alpha60 s central ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again the word conscience is uttered from the book that was hidden under Dickson s pillow. As she begins to learn these words she becomes confused and emotional, a state of being punished in Alphaville. The more emotional Natasha becomes, the less logical her thinking is and the more Caution understands Alpha60 s control over her. The books, in the context of Alphaville, contain a language known only to the secret agents and are a symbol of knowledge. In order for Caution to save Natasha from Alphaville he must reveal their poetic meaning. Another book, the dictionary, which replaces the bible in every hotel room, is Alpha60 s way of censoring language and controlling thought. The dictionary also marks knowledge as something found in a language of exact definition, a form of linear or logical thinking. This contrasts knowledge found in the poetic use of language where words take on abstract forms and meaning. • 31. Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they help each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of range could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad hoc networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing protocols for this type of network. Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source. It has become more prevalent in our society over the past few decades and occurs every single day all over the country. There are many reasons and factors that influence a person to engage in criminal activity. If you really think about it, everyone at some point in their life has probably committed a crime even if it is just a simple one like running a red light or drinking before being of legal age. Some people may never get caught committing a crime while others are caught and have to ultimately pay the consequences. The individual who committed the crime may not even be a bad person. They may have done it because they felt like that s what they had to do in order to survive or to help their families in a time of need. • 38. Climate Change As A Threat Multiplier National security, in the 21st century, has shifted from the focus on traditional threats (armed forces) (Siddiqi, 2013) to the integration of new threats and challenges, which have global consequences as the world evolves. Climate change has been increasingly identified as a serious contemporary security threat (McDonald, 2013), nationally and globally, instead of an environmental concern (Dupont Pearman, 2008). This challenge presents a long term global threat, with substantial human, national and transnational security repercussions (Wuebbles, Chitkara Matheny, 2014). Furthermore, Wuebbles et al. (2014) acknowledge climate change as a threat multiplier, seen to exacerbate stresses (i.e. conflict, instability and poverty), enhancing the global importance of the issue as recognised as a critical national security risk. In perceiving climate change as a threat multiplier, this essay will recognise how the issues cumulative progression and consequences interacts with existing security issues, directly and indirectly challenging national security (Brown, Hammill McLeman, 2007). Secondly, the long term risk of climate change will be discussed, analysing the importance of implementing adaptation strategies for risk protection and vulnerability reduction. Finally, being a transnational security threat, global cooperation will be addressed, stressing the importance of internationalism and collaboration to protect against this evolving threat to national and ...
