Reflection Paper On My Reading
My Reading Response There is a famous saying Every time you open a book, you learn
something . Nevertheless, I had never imagined that reading could be fun, meaningful, and
creative. The more I read, and the more I was attached to the books. After I discovered a few of
the readings, I realized how the authors wanted to introduce their ideas without telling the story
directly. This is fairly new to me. In my earlier English classes that I had studied at the City
College of San Francisco, I read mostly textbooks and non fictionreadings. In this English 1B class,
I started reading the poem and fiction materials and they are much harder to understand.
Surprisingly, it often uses different configurations to educate the readers. At the same... Show more

For my first thought, I assumed white elephant should be connected as a precious gift or something
that is rare to obtain. I was surprised that the author used this term as a different meaning. It still
contained the ingredient of precious gift , however, he twisted to unwanted precious gift. After I
read this story about two times, I was happy that I was able to visualize the scene of this story and
I believed the conversations had helped me the most. I had also found some similarity and
connections between this story compared to the others.
Comparably, The Road Not Taken , by Robert Frost, also enclosed the mystery behind the
reading. Nevertheless, this reading was totally different than the Hills Like White Elephants . In
my opinion, poem is not something that everyone can easily handle and it s meant to be
metaphorical. Everyone can use the expression unlike than the others. As a result, it will become
with different meaning. Here s the example that I found in The Road Not Taken , and it clearly
provided me the two different meanings in sentences, although the words are the same, such as,
Some dirty dog stole my wallet at the party (Frost) and You can t teach an old dog new tricks.
(Frost) The first phrase is not talking about the dog and the second phrase was. But they look are
very similar. Therefore, it requires effort and time to understand the meaning. On the same note, a
poem is also a reflection of our mood, and this is the reason why

The Medical Malpractice Liability System
A tort action is brought about through provisions of private law and asserts that one party has
experienced harm from the actions of another party and that the injured person seeks compensation
for the harm (Pozgar Santucci, 2009). Tort reforms are connected to shifts in medical malpractice
law since the 1980 s when moves were made to change from court decided Common Law to
incorporation of statutes from many state legislatures (Waters, Budetti, Claxton, Lundy, 2007). This
paper will discuss the current state of tort law, the need for reform, and proposals for effective
reform. Tort Law Today The medical malpractice liability system in the United States has two main
purposes: (1) to provide compensation to patients injured through... Show more content on

This potential for legal action by patients incentivizes physicians to purchase malpractice insurance
as a protection against the devastation of attempting to pay such extreme amounts out of pocket;
and whether due to the high cost of claims, the opportunity to profit or other forces, malpractice
insurance premiums continue to climb similar to premiums for most other insurance types
(Rakoczy, 2013). Proponents of reform also point to a tendency of physicians to protect against
legal fault finding through over or under utilization of diagnostics and procedures, known as
defensive medicine. For example, although empirical evidence has long supported avoidance of
cesarean deliveries at 39 weeks in the absence of certain medical indications and demonstrated no
better outcomes than vaginal deliveries, a high rate of cesarean deliveries continues in the United
States, which allows the physician to demonstrate they have done all they can to assure a healthy
delivery and position for defense against malpractice (Braunstein, 2012). Complicated by a
healthcare system that financially rewards physicians for providing more services, approximately
thirty percent of diagnostics, procedures, and hospitalizations are unnecessary, do not improve the
patient s condition and may, in fact, cause harm (Braunstein, 2012). Opponents of tort reform state
that the purposes of such tort actions are a protection for the patient and that placing caps on the
amount of damages awarded

Essay on Children + Violence + Television = Bad
On September 11th, 2001, millions around the world crowded around televisions across the globe
and watched the horrific scenes of terrorism that had struck New York City, Washington, D.C and
Pennsylvania on that ill fated and now infamous morning. Suddenly, in a crowded room everyone
felt alone. As the Twin Towers
vanished before our very eyes, so did our sense of security and
protection. We watched with shock and horror, disbelief and grief as the images were repeatedly
flashed before our eyes. There was no escape. Every televisionchannel and every radio station
constantly reminded us of the tragedy that we will never forget. Even today, over three years later,
I can see the images and remember the desperate pleas for help of people... Show more content on

It s simply too depressing. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving
children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with
reality violence. The news, however, is not the only type of media violence affecting children.
Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs
Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types
of violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are
witnessing acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would
leave a person greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected
and ready to try again in the next scene or segment. This clearly is not reality. Children do not have
the ability and understanding to grasp fictional television and reality.
Even as children grow out of cartoons, they are still entertained by violence. I grew up watching
the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) with my older brother and my step father, two people I
looked up to. I remember countless days of wrestling with my friends throughout my childhood in
result of watching the WWF. I did not understand how watching fake wrestling on television
altered my reality until I grew up and now watch some of cousin s children or neighborhood
children wrestle and they expect no one to get hurt, which is rarely

7 Stress Relief Strategies
In her article, 7 Stress Relief Strategies When You re Short On Time , Paula Davis Laack discuss
several stress relief strategies that people can try when they have ten minutes or less at work.
Stress management is also covered in our textbook in chapter 3. Indeed, chapter 3 discuss personal
stress management, and the topic is discussed in details in the section managing stress from page
77 to 79. However, the article and the textbook s approach to stress management differently.
While the article focuses on stress relief strategies in the work environment, the textbook gives
some useful stress management tips that could particularly help college students. Obviously,
college is a quite stressful experience. College students should then take advantage of this moment
to start learning and practicing the art of stress reduction. The first textbook s suggestion to manage
stress is journaling. Clearly, this is the easiest, simple but effective way to work through stress.

In fact, the main purpose of relaxation is to calm our bodies and mind. We can choose between
several relaxation techniques which include progressive relaxation, visualization or guided
imagery and biofeedback. Here again, this strategy differs from the ones mentioned in the article.
Relaxation requires a calm environment which is not the case of the work environment. Another
strategy is meditation, which helps a person reach a state of relaxation, but with the goal of
achieving inner peace and harmony. College students may also use this strategy, which is
effective to reduce stress. The most popular exercise practiced to reduce stress is yoga. Yoga is
defined as the union of the mind, body and spirit. Yoga has been proven to be efficient in stress
management and is widely practice around the world. Unlike the other strategies yoga can be
easily incorporated into a worker s

First, Death Comes to Daulat Ram is steeped in the elements of folklore and supernatural
elements. Ranga, the son of old Daulat Ram always takes tea in the same restaurant. One day,
the barman receives the phone and searches out Ranga. Ranga then gets the news of his father s
illness. The barman tells Ranga about the call without asking him whether he is Ranga. It is also
noticeable that Ranga thinks that it may be a bad news. Then follows the description of the
supernatural atmosphere and happenings. Daulat Ram fell sick for several times. But this time,
Ranga experienced many different things. The sun is seen fighting hard with the big black
clouds. The trees in the garden had drooped in despair. There was no blowing wind. The house
looked widowed . The creeper on the walls had fallen down at many places. /there was uneasy
stillness and no one was seen around the house. This was unusual. Usually, the lawns of the
house were littered with children and maids. The chaprasi was not at his place and the telephone
had been taken away. Strangely enough, none was there except an old beggar sitting near the
entrance. Usually, Moti did not allow any beggar near the house. Moti was seen near the beggar
with puzzle in his eyes. The old beggar was not disturbed by the arrival of Ranga or by the sound of

Essay about The Political History of Italy
The political history of Italy is quite extensive. The Greeks were the first to settle in Italy and
established colonies in the southern part of the country and in Sicily. There was not a sense of
political reality as much as there was a civilization (Windows on Italy History). While the Greeks
controlled the south the Gauls, or Celtic people, ruled the north and the Po Valley. But the most
important group to settle in Italywas the Etruscans. Because of their advanced civilization, the
Etruscans were the only ones to establish political and cultural ideas before the Roman Empire
(Windows on Italy History). At the end of the Etruscans rule, Romebegan a unification of Italy and
established Latin to be the general language (Defusco).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was much concern about the growing cities in the north while the south remained to depend
on its agriculture for support. These concern have not yet been resolved to this day. To gain more
territories, Italy joined Germany and Austria in the Triple Alliance in 1882 to conquer Ethiopia and
Turkey (Defusco). At the outbreak of World War I, Italy remained neutral until 1915, when the
Allies promised Italy more territories (Defusco). At the end of the war Italy only received two of
the territories it was promised, which created a strong nationalistic view and disappointment
amongst its people.
The war created many social and political problems throughout the country and by the election of
1919 things changed dramatically. The socialists and popular Catholic parties took over the
Parliament, which lead to the ideas of a revolution among the people (Defusco). One leader of
this revolution was Benito Mussolini, who founded a movement called Fascism. After four years
of revolution, Mussolini took over as the dictator of Italy and eliminated civil liberties, political
parties, and encouraged a totalitarian regime (Defusco). Mussolini soon joined forces with Hitler
and World War II came into affect. The Fascists later turned on Mussolini and Italy joined the
Allies to fight Germany. This reaction lead to a strong anti Fascist movement called the Committee
of National Liberation (Defusco). By the year 1946 the idea for a republic was anonymous.

German Aggression Dbq Essay
It is heavily debated that the display of German aggression inevitably contributed to the outbreak
of general European tensions, and war in 1914. The use of strategies such as the Anglo German
Naval Race, as stated in Joll s source, highlighted the aggression by Germany prior to war.
Moreover, this type of tactic also demonstrated the desire and hunger Germanyobtained for
continental power, another factor towards European tensions. The sources in question both support
and contest the set statement, to an extent. Sources 1 and 3 by Corrigan and Joll, respectively,
argue how Germany s use of tactics agitated European powers, thus causing war. However, Source
2 by Turner disagrees with the statement, arguing how other European powers were to... Show more

Joll contrasts with Turner, arguing how the German strategy of aggression via the arms race led
to general war; Arms race, in which all major powers were involved contributed to the sense that
war was bound to come, sooner rather than later . The quote implies that the use of the Arms
Race was a major factor towards the inevitable war, also highlighting the aggression of Germany.
Additonally, the source indicates the turbulent effect of the arms race on the nation; it caused
serious financial difficulties for all governments involved . This demonstrates the severe impact
of German aggression and how it had some severe flaws, despite hoping that the race would
make for peace rather than war . A prime example of the consequences of German aggression was
the July Crisis in 1914. The crisis led to severe consequences between Germany and other nations.
The unconditional support by Germany for Austria Hungary aka blank cheque led to an increase in
the chances of armed conflict and higher chances of war occurring. Overall, this is evident that
Germany s involvement in other nations conflict only spurred the chances of war. In support of
Joll, Corrigan and Fischer also highlight how German aggression was creating war. Moreover, the
historians also concluded how Germany were adamant that the war would create two things in
German favour power via annexation and armament. However, Joll highlights the

The Community Treatment Orders ( Cto )
The introduction of Community Treatment Orders (CTO) has raised much debate around the
issue of whether this is an ethical practice or not. This debate calls for a number of questions to
be answered. For starters, can unethical practice be justified if it is for the greater good? More
specifically, should the elimination of individuals rights be accepted if success is to be achieved
from these programs. In order to gain insight into answering these questions, Community Treatment
Orders need to be defined first. According to the Mental HealthAct , a Community Treatment Order
sets out terms under which a person must accept psychiatric drugs, therapy, and other services while
living in the community (Mental Health Act 2007). CTO s include... Show more content on

By doing so, they are given the opportunity for social inclusion and to be part of a community
(Lawson Smith et al, 2008). In addition, the fact that they are still in operation today supports the
idea that change is needed in society. From a political perspective, they are enforced by
governments in order to help those who are most vulnerable, to remedy discrimination, and protect
the general public (Russell, 2011). As wholehearted as these goals may be in theory, the fact
remains that the intended results are not being achieved and civil liberties are being infringed upon.
Those opposing the use of CTO s are influenced by three reasons to support their position. The first
reason deals with the current evidence base. For starters, international research literature has found
no strong evidence on the positive or negative effects of CTO s on three key outcomes. These
outcomes are hospital readmissions, length of hospital stay, and patients quality of life (Lawton
Smith et al, 2008) Furthermore, a 36 month study of 198 patients concluded that CTO s do not
prevent relapse and readmission of psychiatric inmates with severe and enduring mental illnesses .
The study showed that results were in line with the current national use (Rugkasa, Yeeles,
Koshiaris, Burns, 2016). Analysis of these results shows that there is no compelling reason for CTO
s to continue to exists, given the lack of improvement that they provide.
The use of CTO s is

The Long Road Of Revolution During Colonial America
The Long Road to Revolution in Colonial America The four major events during the period of
1763 17751 led to the conflict between colonial America and Great Britain are the Stamp Act,
Townshend Acts, Tea Act, Continental Congress. First of all, in February 1765, Grenville
escalated his revenue program with the stamp act, precipitating a major conflict between Britain
and the colonies over Parliament s right to tax. The Stamp Act imposed a tax on all paper used
for official documents newspapers, pamphlets, court documents, licenses, wills, ships cargo lists
and required an affixed stamp as proof that the tax had been paid. The Act intensified the conflict
between the colonial and Parliament Colonists believed that Parliament had no right to tax the
colonies. Sons of Liberty stopped stamped papers from being unloaded at docks. Merchants
organized a boycott of British goods. They demanded Parliament repeal the Act. In 1766
Parliament repeal the Act. Secondly, Townshend proposed new taxes in the old form of a
navigation act. Officially called the Revenue Act of 1767, it established new duties on tea, glass,
lead, paper, and painters colors imported into the colonies, to be paid by the importer but passed
on to consumers in the retail price. Dozens of towns begin to boycott of all British made goods.
British Imports fell by more than 40 percent. In 1770 The Townshend Duties are Repealed Under

How ELT Has Helped Make English the Global Language
How ELT has Helped Make English the Global Language
Standardization of English Controversies It is not difficult to determine why English began its
rise as the predominant language in the world. Britain, the progenitor of the language, once
bragged that the Sun never set on the British Empire. This is true in that the empire stretched to
all areas of the globe, and the nation of England had influence beyond just its possessions.
Because the conquerors spoke English, many of the citizens learned to at least use a few simple
phrases that would allow them to take the better jobs offered by the English. This same scenario
has happened since the United States has become the world superpower. In areas such as
commerce and science, it is almost non negotiable that a person has to learn English to survive. The
global climate dictates that there must be a single language which everyone can turn to as that
spoken in a particular discipline. Because of the economic superiority of the United States over
the past 50 years, and the fact that the US has also dominated many fields within science, English
is spoken by many people around the world. However, it is a second language. The fact is that
English is not the preeminent first language. Chinese Mandarin has far more native speakers than
any other language in the world (Lovgren, 2004). Of course, just the sheer volume of Chinese
make this a certainty, but many of these people still speak English as a second language because

Prokaryotic Vs Eukaryotic Essay
Prokaryotic are organisms whose DNA is not confined within a membrane enclosed nucleus.
Prokaryotic organisms are single, but some prokaryotic organisms are multicellular. Eukaryotes are
organisms who cells are organized into complex structures by internal membranes and a
cytoskeleton. (Cundy, 2012) The most characteristic membrane bound structure is the nucleus.
Animals, plants, fungi, and protists are eukaryotic. Prokaryotic organisms are typically between
0.1 to 5.0 um in size while Eukaryotic organisms are between 5 10 um. Prokaryotic organisms have
pili, cytosol, ribosomes, capsule, cellwall, plasma membrane, DNA, and chromosome also known as
plasmids. (Cundy, 2012) They do not have a nucleus, lysosomes, microtubules, endoplasmic
reticulum,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is what allows prokaryotes to attach to other surfaces. Cytosol is a water like fluid found in
the cytoplasm. Cytoplasm is inside the plasma membrane but outside the nucleus. The cell wall is
made of polysaccharides just outside the plasma membrane and its made of cellulose. (Cundy,
2012) The plasma membrane is the outer boundary of the cell with a layer made of phospholipids.
DNA is a double polymer of nucleotides that store genetic information. DNA stands for
Deoxyribonucleic Acid with a phosphate group of four nitrogenous bases which are adenine,
cytosine, guanine, and thymine. The largest organelle is the nucleus. The nucleus contains DNA.
The mitochondria have a double membrane and it is known for supplying energy to the cell.
Ribosomes produce proteins. These ribosomes can be found in the cytosol of cells. The nucleolus
is what makes ribosomes and RNA. Lysosomes have digestive enzymes. The endoplasmic
reticulum is an inner membrane system that makes some proteins. (Cundy, 2012) There are two
endoplasmic reticulum, one is rough and the other is smooth. The rough endoplasmic reticulum has
ribosomes on it while the smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have ribosomes on them. The
Golgi apparatus prepares proteins to be taken out of the cell. The vacuole is storage for water and
other nutrients a call may need and this is most commonly found in plant cells. The cytoskeleton
shapes the cell wall and consists of protein

My Personality And Learning Abilities
Learning the Style
Exploring more in depth about my personality and learning abilities was honestly quite surprising.
It s probably based on the fact that we generalized somewhat false ideas about who we are or how
we think we function. Trying to get a better insight about myself, I took several interpersonal
surveys along with questionnaires that had many evolutional properties. Some I found too close to
spot on, others not so much, and I am not really sure how I feel about the outcome.
The first thing to be uncovered was that I am considered more of an auditory learner over the other
types listed. Auditory learner, you probably hum or talk to yourself or others if you become bored.
People may think you are not paying attention, even though you may be hearing and understanding
everything being said. You store information by the way it sounds, and you have an easier time
understanding spoken instructions than written ones ( What s Your LearningStyle?). I find this to be
very true for myself because written instructions can often be miss interpreted.
When I was younger in school they always thought I had a reading disability, so for years they
had me go to special educational class once a day during the school week. I found myself to be
enraged with everyone involved. I know that I am extremely able to do what they were asking of
me but had no way to express myself about the matter. While suffering with frustration they did a

Missing Children
INTRODUCTION
Over the years our country, Malaysia has been bombarded with abundance of missing children
/ children abduction cases. A statistic released by police of Malaysia, stated that a total of 3223
children below 18 went missing between 2008 and April last year (2012). Of this figure, only about
1000 cases were solved.
From the statistic, it s clearly shown that, over 3223 cases reported 2223 cases still unsolved. The
questions are, how does it happen? Who should be blamed? What the impact of this scenario? And
what are the best ways to prevent children from missing?
Thus, in this essay, the priority will be given to the causes, the effects and some suggestions to

because they might be missing due to the kidnap. Those children who are kidnaped by the
criminals might live in a dangerous and awful life. Some of them are kidnaped to be slaves of
criminals; helping the criminals to find money just like what is happening in our countries. These
children are forced to become beggars and ask donation from the public. In some other cases, we
may find out that those children are forced to become prostitutes. This happens mostly in Middle

Managing Information Systems Information systems provide the infrastructure and enable
communication for every kind of business in today s global economy. The responsible managers in
charge of these vital systems face several key issues in their efforts to effectively manage corporate
information systems. Information systems, particularly hardware and software components, become
obsolete very quickly. Another important issue is data storage and availability. The need for

Training employees to perform adaptive maintenance requires constant technical training. It also
requires managers to build employee confidence in nontechnical disciplines such as team building,
online collaboration, and ways to build meaningful relationships with end users. Communicating
effectively with users will provide managers and technical staff with valuable data about the
systems they are administering and the kinds of features that their customers want to see added to
new software builds. Another aspect of training employees for adaptive maintenance is educating
them on the expense of making deep changes to an information system. The responsibility for
keeping maintenance costs reasonable should stay with the manager; however, educating
employees on the financial side of their information system will aid them in determining if a change
is worth making or if they should wait for a major change or upgrade opportunity. Adaptive
maintenance is an effective tool for information systems managers, but the costs of making changes
should always be weighed against the benefits to the organization.
New Frontiers: Managing Information Systems in a Global Economy Perhaps the greatest
challenge to managing information systems today is globalization. The lack of international
borders to business has created many new opportunities but also many new challenges for
managers. Untapped technology markets exist in many developing

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in American and a leading cause of adult disability.
Stroke or other known as a transient ischemic attack occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery or
a blood vessel breaks, interrupting the blood flown to an area of the brain. These characteristics
cause a loss of cerebral function. (NSA, 2014) When brain cells die during a stroke, abilities

ways to treat dysphagia would be swallowing therapy and changing of diet. Most post operative
patients will be placed on a strict puree diet to assess feeding. Gradually they will rise back up to
a regular diet. Most circumstances require approval from the therapy department but it s up to the
nurses or the nursing assistants to inform therapy about changes in swallowing. After assessing a
patient and you can tell that there is some difficulty in swallowing then they should be placed on
thickened fluids to ease the swallowing process. Thickened liquids are common practice in the
management of dysphagia as they are easy to implement by nursing staff awaiting formal
assessment by therapy. (Hughes, 2011) Other factors that can help treat dysphagia in a stroke
patient would be positioning. You need to make sure that the patient is always sitting in an upright
position. Positioning the patient correctly is crucial because of physical and neurological changes
that occur after stroke, such as reduced muscle tone or paralysis which can obstruct the airway and
result in aspiration. Proper management of dysphagia in stroke patients can

Self Determination Theory Paper
The self determination theory was created to help leaders such as teachers, business owners and

distribution channels. In relation to foreign competitors, US wine consumption is still small, with
Americans consuming less than 3 gallons per person, demonstrating more room for industry
growth. Wine sales through eccomerce and other direct to consumer sales have also experienced
rapid growth. Laws facilitating direct to consumer shipments have helped in the increase of

Thanksgiving is a day family and friends have a traditional meal including turkey. Thanksgiving
is always held on the fourth Thursday of November every year. It s a very special holiday when
everybody comes together as a family to cook, enjoy, and bless the food, but also to enjoy each
other. In 2015, I had a special ThanksgivingDay dinner that left me full of joy.
On Thanksgiving Day every year, my family and I normally rent a building that s twenty minutes
away from my house. The building is located in Church Point, Louisiana. It is a Community
Center at the park. The inside of the building is huge. It has a kitchen area in the back of the
building. Inside of the kitchen it has a large island and cabinets stuff full of pots, pans, and
utensils. We had two long tables in the back by the kitchen to put the food on. The deejay is
placed in the front by the entrance. Between the kitchen and the deejay were chairs and tables
placed for people to eat their food. There were placed a variety of tables that came in different
shapes and colors. As I walked around the building, I noticed yellow, brown, and orange tables.
The chairs had chair covers on them that were the same colors of yellow, brown, and orange,
which are colors that you would see in November that had different meanings. Yellow is the corn,
brown is the turkey and orange is a pumpkin.

Comparing Odysseus The Odyssey And Today s Pop Culture
In Ancient Greece and today s pop culture, it is often seen for a heroic figure to face a villain who
is either simpleminded or naГЇve. This is evident in the epic poem, The Odyssey, by Homer. There
is a scene in the graphic novel by Gareth Hinds, that introduces the gullible cyclopes Polyphemus.
With little effort, Odysseusmakes a fool out of the Cyclops. Odysseus tricks the Cyclops several
times, either when he gets him drunk or when Odysseus tells him his name. In Ancient Greek times,
intelligence was seen to be an important cultural value. It was often seen for gods and blessed
human men to face challenges where their intelligence is tested. When comparing Odysseus and the
cyclopes story to pop culture, J.K Rowling s Harry Potter, and Philosopher s Stone, is relevant.

1. From reading this summary of tiger ecology, what aspects of the tiger s environment need to be
recreated in a zoo environment?
To start with, many zoo facilities in Asia are very overcrowded with tigers, causing tigers to die as
soon as they are placed in such zoos. One thing tigers need is more space as well as more resources
to breed. Tigers definitely need trained, well equipped, zookeepers. Another necessity would be
space so they can best prevent diseases from spreading. Due to some reports, zoo keepers are

medical care.

The biologists working in the wild, could have many zoos to thank for their work in identifying
all of the precise dosages of drugs needed for anesthesia. Also, field researchers analyze the paw
prints in the zoo from the jaguars. This helps them begin to read the tracks and able to estimate the
size of these wild cats.
8.What kinds of enrichment activities do you think are important for zoo animals to participate
in? Why? David Shepherdson is a self effacing guru of the enrichment movement. Being a
scientist for the conservation program at the Oregon Zoo, David has brought so much joy and
mental health of so many captive animals for the last 20 years, or so. I believe they should be
pampered and massaged and washed frequently. Also, zoo keepers should do medical health
checkups once a month or as needed. Animals should be treated as well as humans are, especially
if they are going to be kept in zoos.
9.As a habitat expert, how would you design zoo exhibits so that they are suitable for these
enrichment activities? As a habitat expert, I would do existential research to match the natural
habitats of the animals as seamlessly as I could. The animals would have all of the necessities to
partake in the enrichment activities they need. The health of the animals would come before
anything else at my zoo. 10.What are the challenges in keeping tigers? As the wild places for tigers

China s Aging Population And The Hukou System
The selection of blog entries is an important process involving the need to thoroughly take into
account the subject topic and accordingly carry out the review of the topic. The blogs are means
to represent the idea in brief in order to make it clear for understanding by the reader. The blog
should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader.
Instead, the precise description in an easy language should be carried out in order to benefit the
reader by adding to their knowledge. Thus, two blogs have been written here titled as China s aging
population, and The Hukou system . Each of these has been described in the context of the topic so
as to make them clear and precise enough to the reader.
The blog titled China s aging population describes how the increase in population is a growing
concern for the country. The reason for selection of this topic is to explore how the increase in
aged population of China is causing an impact on the country s economic system. The increase
in population is a serious issue of concern, which is well controlled by the government through
introducing one child policy (Peilin, 2015). This parameter has however resulted into several
side effects such as increase in aged people in the country. As a result of this, the expenses
associated with elderly people is also increasing, which is an interesting area focused in the blog. It

As the movie industry changed from family to the teenage and adult scenes, Disney started
Touchstone Pictures. This section of the Disney empire was responsible for the movie Splash in
1984 and the tv series The Golden Girls the following year. By 1988 Disney started leading the

Empathy In Homeless In Black Men And Public Space
In Homeless , Quindlen shows empathy toward homeless people. For example, throughout the
story, Quindlen brings forth points pertaining to how having a home is everything (193). Homeless
people don t experience little things that come with having a home such as having walls and
painting them a color of their own choosing (193). On the other hand, in Black Men Public Space,
Staples makes the reader empathize with him and blacks in general and makes the reader see
his perspective. Staples emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces
through the use of explicit language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman
(197). Using the word victim , he expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view.
Additionally, using the word victim provides the reader with a different perspective on how the
person who is being perceived as being a threat feels.
The outdoors, which is a public space, is not comforting. As Quindlen says, Home is where the
heart is ; it is a place of certainty, stability, predictability, [and] privacy (193). Home is a private
space surrounded by walls, making people who reside there feel secure. In contrast to Staples,
Quindlen uses implicit language because it is implied that on the other hand, living in a public
space can be threatening because certain public spaces are considered unsafe. Black people in the
streets can be perceived as being one of the many threats, like Staples was. Ironically,

What about, more specifically, the Desert Kangaroo Rat? Why does it live in the desert with fur?
Won t it get hot? Have no fear because most of your questions will be answered right here. What
does the Desert Kangaroo Ratlook like? Well, to answer that question, this species is cute in that
weird sort of way. It has a long tail with brown fur. Their two big feet have four toes each, and
they have really short arms. Along with their sandy brown fur, they have white stomachs. And on
top of it all, they have a cute small head with big, black eyes, and small ears. What does the
Kangaroo Rat eat? A small animal like this doesn t really need a feast. This species of animal eats
mostly only seeds and beans from the desertplants. Only sometimes does it eat grass and insects,
but not very often. I mean, after all, it is really small. The Desert Kangaroo Rat obviously lives in
the desert. It s in the name. This species of animal occupies the desertsof Southern Australia. Now,
inside of Southern Australia is a variety of bushes and scrubs, where these rats take refuge. They
also tend to live in shallow impressions in the sand, so that they can hop up and get to work after
a well deserved rest. I mean, it has to do something! The Rat Kangaroo isn t much of a predator to

consumption product. Another central quality of this family s lifestyle is essentially work. Puma
writes: With Johnny s help, father and son would finish up by eleven instead of after midnight for
the father alone. The next morning Johnny would still be sleepy, and his mother would tickle his
toes until he climbed out of bed for breakfast with his sister and brother. By then his father would
already be on the subway headed again for the pastry shop Downtown (From the Margins 86).
This shows that Giovanni s life centers around work. Giovanni spends most of his time working
about six days a week. He is doing this in order to support his family. In another scene when
Johnny is making dough, he sees bugs in the flour, and Giovanni also accidentally knocks
cigarette ashes into the flour. Giovanni shrugs it off as if it is no big deal. Giovanni is exhausted
and he is simply being realistic and just wants to get work done. Puma shows Giovanni s hard
lifestyle when he writes: The physical work, the heat from the ovens...the long hours for little pay in
those times when most other Sicilians too didn t earn enough to buy many cakes when almost

Essay Psuedopsychology vs the Scientific Method
Humans have inhabited the Earth for thousands of years and it is perceived by many that we are
among the most intellectual species on this planet. Although having lived on this planet for so
long, being able to distinguish fact from fiction has escaped the minds of many. People of today
s society are easily influenced by what is told to them instead of what can be proven. Believing
in something that has no scientific evidence is not only absurd but can be classified simply as
ignorance. Many of the erratic ideas that are believed by many today have originated in a time
where superstition was more popular than science. These beliefs appear to be proven by science,
but in reality are not valid and frequently confused with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All procedure varies from field to field but the steps must be repeatable to predict future results
and this is where psudopsychology and fact clash. Replicating the methods is tricky for those
who are practicing these psychologies because they have to do it a certain way in order for the
beliefs of everyone to remain the same. Horoscopes and Astrology: A man who made the
practice of horoscopes and astrology susceptible to Christians allowed for these beliefs to spread
throughout the world in the 1600 s was William Lilly. During his time he was seen as a great
prophet, and became famous for predicting The Great Fire of London through one of his
hieroglyphic drawings (McCann, 1990). The Great Fire of London happened on September 2,
1666 and it started out as a small fire in the bakeshop of Thomas Forger destroying about 430
acres of land including 13,000 house, 89 churches and many other buildings leaving countless
homeless. This fire occurred 14 years after William Lilly predicted one, and at this time London
has been prone to having fires due to its infrastructure. Most of the houses and other buildings
were made of wood and highly flammable, causing something that started as a house fire to a fire
that engulfed a great majority of London. This hasn t been the only great fire that this city has
witnessed. Along with the fire of 1633 and 1676, the fire of 1666 has increased its caliber of
destruction primarily because of the city s construction

The Health And Safety Code Section 85.007 Education Program
Ashley St. Clair English 1302 Professor Beverage 31 October 2014 Sexuality A 2011 Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high
school students say they have had sex; and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with
four or more partners during their lifetime, (NCSL). In our society today sex is a very open
subject and is being observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half
naked women plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and
making adolescents everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught
that abstinence before marriage is the right way to live, and engaging in such... Show more content

From experience, at the age of ten I was taught by my mother that I should never engage in sex
unless I was married and ready to procreate. At the age of twelve I was sexually active. By the
age of fifteen I was pregnant with my first son and becoming a single mother at a very early age.
When you are young and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look
for answers and research as much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. So when
children are taught that sex is bad without given any background information to why or what it
is, they tend to look deeper and start to engage in the activities to test the water and see if what
they are taught is true. Rebellion is a very common among children and teenagers, and to be
forced into believing that something is bad and harmful for you, just to find out the truth about
sex, will eventually cause a stir and up rise of many young adults. More teens are learning sex
from the media or from their friends instead of from their parents or a sexual education class
taught in schools. Nearly three fourths of television shows contains talk about sex or show sexual
behavior, (King and Regan 2). When we drive down the road we see several stores promoting sex
such as Condoms to Go, Condom Sense, Sarahs Secret, and New Fine Arts. Children who have no
clue to what these stores are, automatically want to know everything about it and why it

The Four Freedoms Speech
On June 6, 1941, United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt made a speech that has
since been known as The Four Freedoms Speech. In this speech, he outlines four freedoms he
hopes every person in the world will obtain in the future. He identifies the four freedoms as the
following: ...Freedom of speech and expression everywhere in the world... freedom of every
person to worship God in his own way everywhere in the world... freedom from want which,
translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a
healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants everywhere in the world... freedom from fear which,
translated into world terms, means a world wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in
such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical
aggression against any neighbor anywhere in the world. Over 75 years later, we still do not have
the freedoms President Roosevelt wished upon us. A specific freedom that still does not exist is
economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its
inhabitants. There are still dozens of poverty stricken countries, known as Heavily Indebted Poor
Countries (HIPC). These are countries that have a national debt that is unmanageable with
traditional manners alone. The good news is that the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative
began in 1996 to address this issue. The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMC), and
other creditors teamed up to reduce the debt of 36 countries that met strict criteria. In order to be
considered for assistance, countries must have an unsustainable amount of debt, be eligible for
interest free loans from the World Bank s International Development Agency, have a good track
record of reform through World Bank supported programs, and have completed a Poverty
Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP). After a country shows that they have met this criteria and
continues to meet it and follow through with with their strategy, then they are deemed capable of
earning their complete amount of debt relief funds. As of 2015, all 36 of the heavily indebted poor
countries have received their full amount of debt relief they were

  • 2. Reflection Paper On My Reading My Reading Response There is a famous saying Every time you open a book, you learn something . Nevertheless, I had never imagined that reading could be fun, meaningful, and creative. The more I read, and the more I was attached to the books. After I discovered a few of the readings, I realized how the authors wanted to introduce their ideas without telling the story directly. This is fairly new to me. In my earlier English classes that I had studied at the City College of San Francisco, I read mostly textbooks and non fictionreadings. In this English 1B class, I started reading the poem and fiction materials and they are much harder to understand. Surprisingly, it often uses different configurations to educate the readers. At the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For my first thought, I assumed white elephant should be connected as a precious gift or something that is rare to obtain. I was surprised that the author used this term as a different meaning. It still contained the ingredient of precious gift , however, he twisted to unwanted precious gift. After I read this story about two times, I was happy that I was able to visualize the scene of this story and I believed the conversations had helped me the most. I had also found some similarity and connections between this story compared to the others. Comparably, The Road Not Taken , by Robert Frost, also enclosed the mystery behind the reading. Nevertheless, this reading was totally different than the Hills Like White Elephants . In my opinion, poem is not something that everyone can easily handle and it s meant to be metaphorical. Everyone can use the expression unlike than the others. As a result, it will become with different meaning. Here s the example that I found in The Road Not Taken , and it clearly provided me the two different meanings in sentences, although the words are the same, such as, Some dirty dog stole my wallet at the party (Frost) and You can t teach an old dog new tricks. (Frost) The first phrase is not talking about the dog and the second phrase was. But they look are very similar. Therefore, it requires effort and time to understand the meaning. On the same note, a poem is also a reflection of our mood, and this is the reason why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Medical Malpractice Liability System A tort action is brought about through provisions of private law and asserts that one party has experienced harm from the actions of another party and that the injured person seeks compensation for the harm (Pozgar Santucci, 2009). Tort reforms are connected to shifts in medical malpractice law since the 1980 s when moves were made to change from court decided Common Law to incorporation of statutes from many state legislatures (Waters, Budetti, Claxton, Lundy, 2007). This paper will discuss the current state of tort law, the need for reform, and proposals for effective reform. Tort Law Today The medical malpractice liability system in the United States has two main purposes: (1) to provide compensation to patients injured through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This potential for legal action by patients incentivizes physicians to purchase malpractice insurance as a protection against the devastation of attempting to pay such extreme amounts out of pocket; and whether due to the high cost of claims, the opportunity to profit or other forces, malpractice insurance premiums continue to climb similar to premiums for most other insurance types (Rakoczy, 2013). Proponents of reform also point to a tendency of physicians to protect against legal fault finding through over or under utilization of diagnostics and procedures, known as defensive medicine. For example, although empirical evidence has long supported avoidance of cesarean deliveries at 39 weeks in the absence of certain medical indications and demonstrated no better outcomes than vaginal deliveries, a high rate of cesarean deliveries continues in the United States, which allows the physician to demonstrate they have done all they can to assure a healthy delivery and position for defense against malpractice (Braunstein, 2012). Complicated by a healthcare system that financially rewards physicians for providing more services, approximately thirty percent of diagnostics, procedures, and hospitalizations are unnecessary, do not improve the patient s condition and may, in fact, cause harm (Braunstein, 2012). Opponents of tort reform state that the purposes of such tort actions are a protection for the patient and that placing caps on the amount of damages awarded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Children + Violence + Television = Bad On September 11th, 2001, millions around the world crowded around televisions across the globe and watched the horrific scenes of terrorism that had struck New York City, Washington, D.C and Pennsylvania on that ill fated and now infamous morning. Suddenly, in a crowded room everyone felt alone. As the Twin Towers vanished before our very eyes, so did our sense of security and protection. We watched with shock and horror, disbelief and grief as the images were repeatedly flashed before our eyes. There was no escape. Every televisionchannel and every radio station constantly reminded us of the tragedy that we will never forget. Even today, over three years later, I can see the images and remember the desperate pleas for help of people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s simply too depressing. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with reality violence. The news, however, is not the only type of media violence affecting children. Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types of violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are witnessing acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would leave a person greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected and ready to try again in the next scene or segment. This clearly is not reality. Children do not have the ability and understanding to grasp fictional television and reality. Even as children grow out of cartoons, they are still entertained by violence. I grew up watching the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) with my older brother and my step father, two people I looked up to. I remember countless days of wrestling with my friends throughout my childhood in result of watching the WWF. I did not understand how watching fake wrestling on television altered my reality until I grew up and now watch some of cousin s children or neighborhood children wrestle and they expect no one to get hurt, which is rarely ... It is also noticeable that Ranga thinks that it may be a bad news. Then follows the description of the supernatural atmosphere and happenings. Daulat Ram fell sick for several times. But this time, Ranga experienced many different things. The sun is seen fighting hard with the big black clouds. The trees in the garden had drooped in despair. There was no blowing wind. The house looked widowed . The creeper on the walls had fallen down at many places. /there was uneasy stillness and no one was seen around the house. This was unusual. Usually, the lawns of the house were littered with children and maids. The chaprasi was not at his place and the telephone had been taken away. Strangely enough, none was there except an old beggar sitting near the entrance. Usually, Moti did not allow any beggar near the house. Moti was seen near the beggar with puzzle in his eyes. • 9. Essay about The Political History of Italy The political history of Italy is quite extensive. The Greeks were the first to settle in Italy and established colonies in the southern part of the country and in Sicily. There was not a sense of political reality as much as there was a civilization (Windows on Italy History). While the Greeks controlled the south the Gauls, or Celtic people, ruled the north and the Po Valley. But the most important group to settle in Italywas the Etruscans. Because of their advanced civilization, the Etruscans were the only ones to establish political and cultural ideas before the Roman Empire (Windows on Italy History). To gain more territories, Italy joined Germany and Austria in the Triple Alliance in 1882 to conquer Ethiopia and Turkey (Defusco). At the outbreak of World War I, Italy remained neutral until 1915, when the Allies promised Italy more territories (Defusco). At the end of the war Italy only received two of the territories it was promised, which created a strong nationalistic view and disappointment amongst its people. The war created many social and political problems throughout the country and by the election of 1919 things changed dramatically. The socialists and popular Catholic parties took over the Parliament, which lead to the ideas of a revolution among the people (Defusco). One leader of this revolution was Benito Mussolini, who founded a movement called Fascism. After four years of revolution, Mussolini took over as the dictator of Italy and eliminated civil liberties, political parties, and encouraged a totalitarian regime (Defusco). Mussolini soon joined forces with Hitler and World War II came into affect. The Fascists later turned on Mussolini and Italy joined the Allies to fight Germany. • 10. German Aggression Dbq Essay It is heavily debated that the display of German aggression inevitably contributed to the outbreak of general European tensions, and war in 1914. The use of strategies such as the Anglo German Naval Race, as stated in Joll s source, highlighted the aggression by Germany prior to war. Moreover, this type of tactic also demonstrated the desire and hunger Germanyobtained for continental power, another factor towards European tensions. The sources in question both support and contest the set statement, to an extent. Joll contrasts with Turner, arguing how the German strategy of aggression via the arms race led to general war; Arms race, in which all major powers were involved contributed to the sense that war was bound to come, sooner rather than later . The quote implies that the use of the Arms Race was a major factor towards the inevitable war, also highlighting the aggression of Germany. Additonally, the source indicates the turbulent effect of the arms race on the nation; it caused serious financial difficulties for all governments involved . This demonstrates the severe impact of German aggression and how it had some severe flaws, despite hoping that the race would make for peace rather than war . A prime example of the consequences of German aggression was the July Crisis in 1914. The crisis led to severe consequences between Germany and other nations. The unconditional support by Germany for Austria Hungary aka blank cheque led to an increase in the chances of armed conflict and higher chances of war occurring. Overall, this is evident that Germany s involvement in other nations conflict only spurred the chances of war. In support of Joll, Corrigan and Fischer also highlight how German aggression was creating war. Moreover, the historians also concluded how Germany were adamant that the war would create two things in German favour power via annexation and armament. However, Joll highlights the ... This debate calls for a number of questions to be answered. For starters, can unethical practice be justified if it is for the greater good? More specifically, should the elimination of individuals rights be accepted if success is to be achieved from these programs. In order to gain insight into answering these questions, Community Treatment Orders need to be defined first. In addition, the fact that they are still in operation today supports the idea that change is needed in society. From a political perspective, they are enforced by governments in order to help those who are most vulnerable, to remedy discrimination, and protect the general public (Russell, 2011). As wholehearted as these goals may be in theory, the fact remains that the intended results are not being achieved and civil liberties are being infringed upon. Those opposing the use of CTO s are influenced by three reasons to support their position. The first reason deals with the current evidence base. For starters, international research literature has found no strong evidence on the positive or negative effects of CTO s on three key outcomes. These outcomes are hospital readmissions, length of hospital stay, and patients quality of life (Lawton Smith et al, 2008) Furthermore, a 36 month study of 198 patients concluded that CTO s do not prevent relapse and readmission of psychiatric inmates with severe and enduring mental illnesses . The study showed that results were in line with the current national use (Rugkasa, Yeeles, Koshiaris, Burns, 2016). The Long Road Of Revolution During Colonial America The Long Road to Revolution in Colonial America The four major events during the period of 1763 17751 led to the conflict between colonial America and Great Britain are the Stamp Act, Townshend Acts, Tea Act, Continental Congress. First of all, in February 1765, Grenville escalated his revenue program with the stamp act, precipitating a major conflict between Britain and the colonies over Parliament s right to tax. The Stamp Act imposed a tax on all paper used for official documents newspapers, pamphlets, court documents, licenses, wills, ships cargo lists and required an affixed stamp as proof that the tax had been paid. The Act intensified the conflict between the colonial and Parliament Colonists believed that Parliament had no right to tax the colonies. Sons of Liberty stopped stamped papers from being unloaded at docks. Merchants organized a boycott of British goods. They demanded Parliament repeal the Act. In 1766 Parliament repeal the Act. Secondly, Townshend proposed new taxes in the old form of a navigation act. Officially called the Revenue Act of 1767, it established new duties on tea, glass, lead, paper, and painters colors imported into the colonies, to be paid by the importer but passed on to consumers in the retail price. How ELT Has Helped Make English the Global Language How ELT has Helped Make English the Global Language Standardization of English Controversies It is not difficult to determine why English began its rise as the predominant language in the world. Britain, the progenitor of the language, once bragged that the Sun never set on the British Empire. This is true in that the empire stretched to all areas of the globe, and the nation of England had influence beyond just its possessions. Because the conquerors spoke English, many of the citizens learned to at least use a few simple phrases that would allow them to take the better jobs offered by the English. This same scenario has happened since the United States has become the world superpower. In areas such as commerce and science, it is almost non negotiable that a person has to learn English to survive. The global climate dictates that there must be a single language which everyone can turn to as that spoken in a particular discipline. Because of the economic superiority of the United States over the past 50 years, and the fact that the US has also dominated many fields within science, English is spoken by many people around the world. However, it is a second language. The fact is that English is not the preeminent first language. Chinese Mandarin has far more native speakers than any other language in the world (Lovgren, 2004). Of course, just the sheer volume of Chinese make this a certainty, but many of these people still speak English as a second language because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s probably based on the fact that we generalized somewhat false ideas about who we are or how we think we function. Trying to get a better insight about myself, I took several interpersonal surveys along with questionnaires that had many evolutional properties. Some I found too close to spot on, others not so much, and I am not really sure how I feel about the outcome. Swallowing problems can increase risk or morbidity and mortality, as well as risk of aspiration pneumonia where food or fluids pass into the airway. Some ways to treat dysphagia would be swallowing therapy and changing of diet. Most post operative patients will be placed on a strict puree diet to assess feeding. Gradually they will rise back up to a regular diet. Most circumstances require approval from the therapy department but it s up to the nurses or the nursing assistants to inform therapy about changes in swallowing. After assessing a patient and you can tell that there is some difficulty in swallowing then they should be placed on thickened fluids to ease the swallowing process. Thickened liquids are common practice in the management of dysphagia as they are easy to implement by nursing staff awaiting formal assessment by therapy. From reading this summary of tiger ecology, what aspects of the tiger s environment need to be recreated in a zoo environment? To start with, many zoo facilities in Asia are very overcrowded with tigers, causing tigers to die as soon as they are placed in such zoos. One thing tigers need is more space as well as more resources to breed. Tigers definitely need trained, well equipped, zookeepers. Another necessity would be space so they can best prevent diseases from spreading. David Shepherdson is a self effacing guru of the enrichment movement. Being a scientist for the conservation program at the Oregon Zoo, David has brought so much joy and mental health of so many captive animals for the last 20 years, or so. I believe they should be pampered and massaged and washed frequently. Also, zoo keepers should do medical health checkups once a month or as needed. Animals should be treated as well as humans are, especially if they are going to be kept in zoos. 9.As a habitat expert, how would you design zoo exhibits so that they are suitable for these enrichment activities? As a habitat expert, I would do existential research to match the natural habitats of the animals as seamlessly as I could. The animals would have all of the necessities to partake in the enrichment activities they need. The health of the animals would come before anything else at my zoo. 10.What are the challenges in keeping tigers? As the wild places for tigers shrink around the world, many zoos have ... Staples emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces through the use of explicit language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman (197). Using the word victim , he expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view. Additionally, using the word victim provides the reader with a different perspective on how the person who is being perceived as being a threat feels.
