Callum has been interested in media since high school. He took an animal care course in college to improve his grades to enroll in the media course. He enjoyed exploring different areas of media in college such as editing and radio. Callum favors the motion graphics and video editing side of media and hopes to find a job that includes some editing. He developed skills in communication and confidence through the media course. Callum is motivated to learn more about media at university and give his education 100% effort.

Personal Statement For
Callum Harrison
I enjoy Media thoroughly and have been interested in it since High School. When I first left school I
came to college in hopes of doing the media course, however, I was told that I didn’t have the grades
to get onto the level 3 course and that the level 2 course had been dropped. I was then told that I
could do any level 2 course I wanted and then the following year I would be able to enrol on the Media
Level 3 Course. The Course I chose to do was Animal Care because growing up we had numerous
animals and pets and I was interested in the course. When studying Animal care I made sure I did the
best as I could and wanted to come out of it with the best possible grade and upon completing the
course I received a D* which I was completely happy with. Knowing I then had the grades to enrol
onto the Level 3 Media Studies course that, I did exactly that I really enjoyed the Media Course in
college and have therefore decided to study the subject at degree level. At university I am looking
forward to learning about Media in more depth particularly The Editing And Radio Side of it.
At college I enjoyed exploring the different parts of the Media and enjoyed each part.In the Media I
really like how there is always something new to learn and how I personally enjoy it. The work is
challenging and sometimes difficult but having a challenge in my life has always motivated me, my
college course has really opened my eyes to theMedia and has definitely made my mind up about my
job choices. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the media course and would love a Job with anything to do with
the Media although I do slightly favour the motion graphics and Video Editing side of it which is why I
would probably like the Job I get to have a small part of editing in it if not a lot. Throughout my college
course I have developed skills in communication and have really grown in confidence, belief in myself
and my abilities. I have developed in the understanding of Motion Graphics and learned valuable
knowledge of the Media world. In my course we were taught how to use a lot of the Adobe
programmes, I really enjoyed this as I have a huge interest in editing and I wanted to learn these
programmes, I haven’t mastered the programmes however I really would like to.
Outside of college I enjoy to socialise with friends, I am fun and good to be around. I am honest,
reliable and dependable and I believe you should always enjoy life fully as you never know what is
round the corner. However this is not the same attitude I have towards my education. I feel you
should put all the hard work in now as it will eventually pay off. I have thought of my education like this
from being about 15 years old. I like watching films in particular action and thrillers. I also enjoy music
no type of music in particular, I really enjoy different types of genres. My social skills will benefit me
when moving to a new city. This thought excites me and I am sure I will have no problems settling in.
When learning I know that anywhere would have highly qualified teacher whether that being at
School, College or University but ultimately I believe that it is down to the individual to get the most
out of their education. I am keen and motivated to learn all I can from this subject and for that I know I
can do well. The grades I achieve will be the best I could ever achieve, I am confident in this as I
always give 100% when it comes to learning and I feel if you cannot give something your all there is
no point in doing it at all.
