Photoshop was used extensively to edit photos, create designs for the DigiPak advert and album cover, and add color consistency. Final Cut Pro enabled efficient video editing through tools like the blade and trim functions, and adding transitions, effects, and overlays. WordPress helped present planning and ideas through pages and featured social media to visually promote their work.
2. Photoshop- Image Editing
We used photo shop a lot during the creation of our video and DigiPak, as it helped us to easily create digital
designs and edit photos to a professional standard.
We used photoshop to edit photos by
adjusting the brightness and the white
balance through the contrast and other
tools to create a more professional
looking image. We also removed any
blemishes from the image by using the
spot healing brush tool and touched up
any makeup mistakes using the eye
dropper tool and then an airbrush to
create a flawless finish. This made a
huge difference to the photos we used in
the final version of our DigiPak advert
and album cover.
3. Photoshop- Advert and
Album Cover Creation
This shows a quick mock up of a James
Bay advert demonstrating the different
techniques we used when creating the
advert. As shown photoshop enabled us to
use a variety of different tools such as text,
with hundreds of different fonts, allowing us
to get our intended theme across on the
advert/front cover.
Another tool used was the line tool which
helped to create the slick and crisp finish
on our advert.
The ‘magic wand tool’ helped us to take
James Bay’s original logo and place onto
our album cover, even using the stroke tool
to make it look more defined on the cover.
This made our cover look more authentic
and created further star iconography for
our artist.Photoshop also allows us, as shown, to add colour
with ease, this really helped to carry the same
mustard yellow colour throughout our digiPak, as
without this tool we probably would have had may
different shades of yellow, making our digiPak look
messy and unprofessional.
4. Final Cut
Final cut was a huge part in the creation of
our video. It helped us to edit our video in an
efficient and professional way. We used tools
such as the blade tool to help us to quickly
cut our footage into little sections so that we
could select the usable footage from a clip
that could be 3 minutes long.
Final cut was ideal when editing as we were
able to trim and select certain clips which
helped us to select the clip we wanted and
trim accordingly in order to fit the beat of the
music for example.
Final cut helped us to improve the transitions
within our video, so as shown within the video
we put cross dissolves as our transitions to
help one clip flow into the next making the
video look more slick and thought through.
We were also able to put affects onto the
video such as the colour overlay (as shown
on the bdrige of the video)and a ‘50s TV
effect’ which is used within the majority of
performance within the video.
Also within this video we were able to
overlay two clips which is where one clip
overlays the other but is slightly more
transparent. This creates a really
professional look within the video and
adds quite an ethereal feel to the video;
epitomising the freedom our narrative
performer feels.

5. Final Cut
Final cut also helped us within the
development of our evaluation. After
getting the footage for question three
(audience feedback) in our evaluation we
put all the footage into final cut and
created a YouTube video with text in
between the clips to show the questions
our audience are answering.
This helped us to
create a short but
informative video
collecting
feedback in an
interesting yet
practical way.
6. WordPress
Wordpress has been one of the most useful pieces of
software in the planning and presentation of different
aspects of the video; as well as the video itself.
It has helped us to present our planning and any ideas or
photography in a detailed but neat and organised way,
also the fact that we can add different pages helps people
have easy access to the work we’ve done.
Wordpress has also been good for helping to display the
social media we have been using to present our planning
in a visual way, the instagram posts that appear on the
right hand side of the blog helps to draw the eye straight
away and lead people to our instagram page.
Also the social media
icons on the right hand
on the page help to
lead people quickly to
our Instagram,
Pinterest or YouTube
accounts.
