New media technologies in music video production
1. Question 4:
How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
By Christopher Demeyer, Jessica Pond, Connor
Biesterfieldt Woods and Anam Raza
2. Our Blog
Above is an image of our blog, as you can see from the picture, on the right
hand side we have created tabs which all pieces of work are filed into and put
under the correct tab, the tabs being: Home, Research, Planning, Meetings,
Ancillary Tasks, Film and our evaluation questions, under these take we put the
pieces of work that we completed to keep an easy to see and clear layout to all
of our work that we published.
3. New Media Technologies used
As we came into the advanced year of media, year 13 we had to begin by learning how
to use new pieces of software such as Adobe Photoshop, which would help us to
create the images for the Digi pack and the advert as well as edit any photos that we
required for any other work. Adobe Premiere Pro was also used and helped in the
creating of the film , with us being able to piece all of our footage together, add music,
affects and backgrounds. Lastly we began to use another new piece of software that
we hadn't used, which was Facebook Messenger. The Facebook Messenger helped up
the group with the communication between each other in the organising of the work
load and who is in charge of doing which parts of the work. We tried to use a range of
different software so we could create a piece that was varied and professionally made,
with the assistance of the professional software.
4. The use of new media technologies in the
construction of our research
When constructing our research that we had to put together in order to gain
ideas on what our music video was going to be based on and around. We
used new media technologies such as researching using the internet and
media websites on the internet that would provide us with research into
different genres of music, the codes and conventions of music videos, music
artists and also other past students work all of this work and research that
was undertaken was then put onto a blog and stored under the research tab,
which can be see via this link:
https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2274327151353860065#allposts.
The blog compromises all of the research that we have undertaken as a group
and has also helped us to organise the research from the other pieces of work
that we have completed.
5. Planning
Planning was a big part of our work that we had to complete as a part of our project
and the overall course that we had to undertake. We used planning as a way of
organising all of the work that we had to complete including the evaluation questions
that had to be done and the filming that we needed to complete in order to produce
our music video. Below you will be able to see a timetable that was created to show
the dates in January where we needed to film, we used Microsoft Word to create the
timetable and then the timetable was then uploaded on the Blog which we had
created to present and store all of our work.
Date and time Location Props Costume
15th January Princess Park Casual/nice clothes
18th January Anam’s back garden Lights, balloons, people, Party clothes/nice
Party makeup
22nd January Bedroom Picture frames, Pictures,
CD case
Pyjamas/casual/home
clothes
25th January Outside house Lights Party clothes
6. Planning
Planning for our ancillary tasks was a large part of the planning process as we
needed to create a clear image of what we wanted both the advert and the
digipack to look like. As you can see to the right of the page the advert design
was created and then we developed our ideas from here creating a product that
was based around this initial idea that we first had. For our other ancillary task,
which was the digipack we also crated drawing designs that helped us to plan
what to do next and how to base our digipack around our music video as well
as the text size, font, layout and images that we wanted to include in order to
give it a professional feel.
7. Planning for our Evaluation stages
As a group we also used a timetable for the planning of our evaluation questions, with
the first evaluation being a commentary of our film and what we had done, the work
was organised into equal parts so each member of the group spoke at least once about
either the use, development or the challenging of forms and conventions of real media
products. The plan that we created was made by creating a table on Microsoft Word,
which was colour coded and laid out so each member could clearly see what parts
they would be speaking about.(Please see on next slide). For every other question
including the second question, the third and the fourth we also used a plan and these
were originally created by hand on paper documents. After these first plans had been
created for the evaluation stages we then uploaded these onto our media Blog where
we used the technology to store our work and our plans to show the examiner our
ideas and what we were going to do in order to answer these questions.
8. Initial plans for our evaluation
questions
Below is a collection of our plans for the evaluation stage we used a
simple method of pencil to paper for the initial ideas and once
completed we then used Microsoft word to create a more formal and
clear layout for the evaluation question layout.
10. Evaluation Question 1 Plan
This is our plan for our first
evaluation that we had to answer.
We chose to answer this
evaluation question by using a
voice recording commentary
which meant that each member of
the group would then speak about
the various different parts to the
question.
