Biography Of Mary Shelley
MARY SHELLEY
Mary Wollestonecraft (Godwin) Shelley was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England to
philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollestonecraft; both her parents were well noted
writers. Mary herself grew up to be a very well known English novelist, short story writer,
dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer and is best known for her novel Frankenstein.
Wollestonecraft passed away soon after Mary was born and therefore Mary was raised by her father
who provided her with a rich and informal education and encouraged her to adhere his own
political liberal theories. A voracious reader, Mary borrowed books from her father s extensive
library. She enjoyed writing at a young age, and her passion was to write stories intended for a
very limited audience.
In 1814, Mary began a romance with one of her father s political followers, the then married Percy
Bysshe Shelley. Together with Mary s stepsister Claire Clairmont, Mary and Shelley left for
France and traveled through Europe. Upon their return to England, Mary was pregnant with Percy
s child. Over the next two years, she and Percy faced ostracism, constant debt, and the death of
their prematurely born daughter. They married in late 1816, after the suicide of Percy Shelley s
first wife, Harriet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At a stop in Switzerland, the couple and Mary s stepsister, Claire, rented a house near another
British writer, Lord Byron. The summer proved wet and unseasonable; Byron suggested the group
take to writing ghost stories to pass the time. It was during this summer that the form for
Frankenstein was to take shape. The story was first only a few pages, but with the encouragement
of Percy, the tale took on a greater length. Mary s story, the best of the group, was so frightening to
Byron that he ran shrieking in horror from the room. Frankenstein was published in

The Most Pragmatic And Realistic Approach
The Greatest Thing in the World was my favorite piece of reading from the entire semester in
Advanced Interpersonal Communication. I found this book to be the most pragmatic and realistic
approach to how to love while also being quite concise. Although I have enjoyed reading and
discussing The Great Divorce, The Four Loves, and Beloved through the year, none of them have
had the same sense of application for me as that of Henry Drummond s writing. Drummond uses
simple language to break down the superiority of love, the composition of love, and the
importance of love using the passage 1 Corinthians 13. It is a passage I was familiar with and had
even read many similar readings on, but none with such detail. Drummond s writings have made
me consider the dialectical tensions involved in communicating with the Body of Christ along
with the nature of love and the importance of relationships within the Body of Christ. There are
many points of tension within the Body of Christ due to imperfect people and their inability to
communicate love perfectly. People are supposed to practice love and with practice comes
mistakes. Earth s purpose is to act as an education on for us all to ask ourselves how better can we
love (Drummond, 36). Specifically, tensions arise when we become envious or prideful. Since there
are often others doing better than us, the temptation to be competitive presents itself often. Pride is
common because humility is difficult. Drummond suggests that after some

Romanticism In Annie Hall
Annie Hall is a 1977 American romantic comedy film directed by Woody Allen from a
screenplay co written by him and Marshall Brickman. Charles H. Joffe who was Woody Allen s
manager at that time produced the film and the film s director played the leading male, Woody
Allen, as Alvy Max Singer, who is a hostile man who tries to figure out the reasoning for his
failure in relationships with the film s female lead, who is played by Diane Keaton. Annie Hallis not
seen as a traditional romantic film, due to the fact that the stereotype that the viewer has about
romantic films are reversed.
Unlike other romantic films Annie Hall starts with the story of the break up and the audience is
only introduced to the beginning of the relationship 25 minutes into the film. They meet at a tennis
club and immediately after their meeting things turn awkward, and what makes it more awkward is

The initiation of the first meeting was done by Annie which is quite unusual because society
believes that woman should be courted by the ma. Annie s dress code throughout the film is very
masculine with her fitted suits and ties, she is not seen as the conventional girly girl stereotype.
Annie also owns and drives her own car which once again is the position that a make has to show
superiority, this puts Alvy in a feminine position. The role change is seen clearly in the scene
when they move in together when Alvy says: I don t want you to live with me!? Whose idea was
it? (Annie Hall and Annie replies: mine then Alvy subverts under her and replies with: yeah, it was
yours, actually, but I approved it immediately . One can clearly see that Annie wears the pants in
the relationship which is unlike a conventional romantic

Inappropriate Hyponatremia Essay
EUVOLEMIC HYPONATREMIA: MECHANISM SYNDROME OF INAPPROPRIATE
ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE SECRETION [5,13] SIADH is the most common cause of
hyponatremia [13]. It is caused by inappropriate vasopressin secretion either from the pituitary or
from the ectopic source independent of the circulatory volume status and serum osmolality
resulting in hyponatremia. Also there occurs inappropriate diuresis due to the action of
vasopressin in the collecting tubules and its action continues until V2 receptors are down
regulated (vasopressin escape) [5]. There are multiple etiological factors as mentioned earlier

Evaluate: According to the case study Nissan has a pacific product line compared to its
competitors. Nissan uses a build to stock method for some models of vehicle, while the rest of the
methods of vehicle are building to order. This style of operations management should save the
company money. There is an example of this found in the Nissan case study on page 4.
Assess: Nissan is achieving a competitive advantage by maintained a simplified product line
compared to its competitors. The company adopted a build to stock strategy for just a few SKUs
in each model and a build to order strategy for the rest (William and David, 2017). Nissan believed

selected during build sales this include product demand and model sales. Step 3 determines the
time horizon of the forecast. Nissan determines this by deciding whether it should be quarterly
or annually (Vehicle production forecast, 2017). Step 4, Selecting the forecasting model. Nissan
does this by considering several variables related to quantity. Step 5, gather the data needed to
forecast. Nissan does this by obtaining information from pre orders, past sales, and economical
behavior. Step 6, Make the forecast. Nissan show each model in the forecast. Step 7, Validate and
implement the results. Nissan does this by ensuring the models and data are all valid and have
achieved desired results (Vehicle production forecast, 2017). To ensure the quality of the product,
Nissan should review forecast from each model and adjust as needed to forecast

Ohio s Strongest Economic Industry
Ohio s strongest economic industry is Agribusiness. Through agriculture, Ohio farmers have rooted
a connection throughout the globe in feeding and supplying resources needed in life each day.
Since the 1800 s native Ohioans have relied on agriculture not only for a source of nourishment but
as a means of making a living. Ohio s original settlers, the Native Americans, supported themselves
through farming. The Indians grew corn, beans, squash, pumpkins, multi colored Indian corn,
numerous varieties of beans, including kidney beans, navy and pea beans, pinto beans, great
northern marrow beans, and yellow eye beans. Ohio Indians grew many other vegetables, including
turnips, cabbage, parsnips, sweet potatoes, yams, and onions and leeks (Agricultureand Farming in
Ohio). The Europeans introduced the watermelon and muskmelon into North America in the
seventeenth century, and Indians in the interior were growing these fruits within a few years
(Agriculture and Farming in Ohio). Today, there are more than seven billion people roaming earth
and each and everyone, have since the beginning of time shared one thing in common; a need for
food and nutrition for survival. Ohio is a state based on agriculture and Ohioans can be thankful for
that. Agriculture is Ohio s top industry, contributing $105 billion to Ohio s economy with actual
farm gate receipts of $9.65 billion (The Ohio Farm Bureau). The most recent farm census in 2012

A Note On Financial Management
Liquidity is a noteworthy issue in security markets in developing nations such as India. Liquidity
might have various things for understanding. For monetary business sector, we for the most part
characterize liquidity as the simplicity of exchanging a money related item. On the off chance that
the exchanging results in generous quality misfortune for the advantage versus its natural worth,
then we consider the business sector for the security as illiquid. There are a few variables that
influence the liquidity data accessibility, unwavering quality and nature of exchange costs, value
sway, and so forth. Liquidity influences the benefit costs as financial specialists would require

The liquidity issues can prompt systemic disappointment in installment frameworks (liquidity
hazard) and prompt the breakdown in credit assignment. Amid late money related emergency, the
vast majority of the national banks far and wide worked extra minutes to infuse liquidity to the
budgetary framework through managing an account and close keeping money channels to maintain
a strategic distance from systemic installment breakdown. Consequently, inadequate business sector
liquidity will have resultant effect on a national bank s exercises both as a moneylender of final
resort and in its supervision of budgetary strength. In the result of money related emergency, it was

national bank would dependably work in close coordination with the Government to improve the
respectability and effectiveness of the Government securities market. A business sector is fluid if

Democracy And Athenian Democracy
Our constitution is called a democracy because power is in the hands not of a minority but of the
whole people. (Dale. Civilizations in History. Alternative Two. Pg. 92) This quotation perfectly
summarizes Athenian democracy, a system in which all citizens had a say in affecting their daily
lives. This is a contrast to Spartan oligarchy, which limited power to a small group of men.
Athenian democracyencouraged citizens to use their voice and consequently make an impact on
their society. The government included more people s opinions, gave Athenians a more lavish
lifestyle and offered more freedom within the education system. This essay will prove that Athenian
democracyleft Athens a more open civilization, which therefore better... Show more content on

Since Athenians could help make decisions, they were more pleased with the outcome. Also, with
a more diverse range of men voting, they were able to use the opinions of different classes, instead
of strictly aristocrats who used to hold all the power and still did in Sparta. Undoubtedly, with the
power Athenian democracy gave to its people, they were better served.
Since Athenian citizens had the power to impact their government, their values were displayed in
the decisions that were made. Athens enjoyed spreading their culture to different places, learning
from others, and trading for expensive items, which is shown by this excerpt. Then the greatness
of our city brings it about that all the good things from all over the world flow into us, so that to
us it seems just as natural to enjoy foreign goods as our own local products... (Dale. Civilizations in
History. Alternative Two. Pg. 92) Athens was a nation that was willing to adapt, whereas Sparta did
not want to change whatsoever, which is clearly presented by this quotation. They were suspicious
of anything foreign, including trade, and they resisted change of any kind. (Dale. Civilizations in
History. Alternative One.) Sparta was solely focused on their military, and due to it being the basis
of their society, they did not want to put it at risk. So, they kept to themselves. On the other hand,
Athens wanted to experience different cultures,

One of the first rotating turbine research facilities to conduct aerodynamic and heat transfer on
blades was the United Technologies Large Scale Rotating Rig (LSRR). This facility researched the
rotor blades and heat transfer measurements transfer in low speed turbine environment.
The first three rows of the test rig represented a high bypass ratio aircraft engine. The outlying
parameters of the facility are as follows;
This 1.5 stage low speed facility operated from laboratory air conditions at about 1 atm inlet total
pressure and 294 K inlet total temperature with a flow coefficient of 0.78. The experimental turbine
having a 0.8 hub/tip ratio had 22 first vanes, 28 first blades, and 28 second vanes. The model
airfoil chord lengths were about five times full scale hardware chord lengths. The rotor speed was
about 410 m/s and atypical airfoil Reynolds number was approximately 560,000 that were typical
of high pressure turbine airfoils. [UTRC]
The overall effect of the turbulence and stator rotor interactions were recorded and studied for
turbine heat transfer analysis. Time averaged loads on airfoil surfaces not being influenced by
unsteadiness in the presence of temperature streaks was a result of research on this test rig.
The unsteady computations in the experiment clearly showed that pressure sides of turbine airfoils
operate at higher temperatures than the suction sides in the presence of non uniform temperature
gradients. The

Cholesterol And Levels Of Cholesterol Essay
Introduction:In the United States, more than 2,100 people die from cardiovascular disease each
day. According to the American Heart Association, too much cholesterol in a person s blood can
lead to a heart disease and stroke (1). Cholesterol is the most common sterol in animal. Plants also
have sterols in their structure, however human enzyme systems can only digest animal sterols (2).
Cholesterolis produced in our bodies by the liver (endogenous) or could come from the foods we
eat (exogenous). Both kinds are transported to and from the cells by lipoproteins: LDL and HDL.
LDL cholesterol is considered to be the bad cholesterol, since it contributes in depositing plaque in
the arteries, therefore contributing to atherosclerosis. HDL, on the other hand, is considered to be
the good cholesterol since it has the opposite effect; it removes the LDL cholesterol from the
arteries carrying it back to the liver, therefore reducing risks of atherosclerosis. Maintaining the
low levels of LDL and high levels of HDL is extremely important, as HDL is responsible for moving
the cholesterol from the blood to the liver whereas LDL is the reason for the build up inside the
artery therefore increasing the risk of the cardiovascular diseases. In order to assess cholesterol
levels in the body, blood serum cholesterol is tested. It is recommended that total cholesterol (TC)
level in an individual to be less than 200 mg/dl (desirable level). The level between 200 239 mg/dl is

E-Learning In Education Essay
Information Technology has been praised in certain areas and deemed as a catalyst for rethinking
teaching practices in the education sector (Flecknoe, 2002; Mcormick Scrimshaw, 2001),
developing favored graduates and citizens required in today s information society (Department of
education, 2001).
The field of education globally has been affected by ICT in one way or another which has
affected teaching, learning, and research (Yusuf, 2005). ICT has the potential to accelerate and
deepen the skills to motivate and engage students to work practices and create economic viability
for tomorrow s workers (Davis and Tearle, 1999; Lemke and Coughlin, 1998; cited by Yusuf,
2005). e learning can be branched out into different areas such as:
The use of different elements such as words, spoken text, illustrations and pictures to deliver content
May be instructor led learning also known as synchronous learning where a digital device can be
mobilized and introduced to the classroom
Self paced learning also known as synchronous learning which uses devices and enables learners to
learn at their own pace
Virtual classrooms where learners can attend a classroom session based in a different location from
the facilitator
Based on the rapid change of technology, much of what we are seeing today as a form of e
learning is not fairly new. Computer training known as computer based training has been around
for more than 40 years however this was not mobile (Clark; Mayer, 2008)

Lions could have advantage during Thanksgiving football event
The Thanksgiving football experts say that Detroit looks to be the team with the advantage so far
leading into today s game. Detroit was 1 7 ahead of their bye week, and they have won their last

when they played the Raiders and used a three back system complete with Ameer Abdullah, Theo

Cornerback Darius Slay is also someone to watch, since he has had a factor in the team s

The Pedagogical Aspects Of Communicative Language Teaching
Communicative Language Teaching
This essay will take just a peek at some of the pedagogical aspects of Communicative Language
Teaching and the teachers therein.
As the U. K. entered the common market (EEC) in the early 1970s. A sharp rise in demand from
our new European neighbours for The English Language landed on our shores. Due to the
modernization of secondary schools not only in Europe but indeed worldwide, languages were a
hot commodity and many were on offer, English being most sort after.
This demand equally put educators, linguists and language experts under immense pressure to
come up with something new and not as it were traditional methods or approaches e.g. audio
linguistics which had been around since the end of the Second World War.
In these modern times (the 1960s, 1970s) a plethora of theories, designs, and approaches in the
field of second language acquisition, came bubbling up to the surface. Due to the application of
different functional, formal, and cognitive linguistic theories.
Chomsky and Halliday have immensely contributed to the development of second language
teaching theories and practices.
Enter the communicative language teaching approach, (CLT).
The focus of CLT is primary and necessarily social, concerned as it was with the goal of successful
communication (Cook 2010; 36) .
The five features of CLT, David Nunan (1991) is one of the most recognised in the field of CLT.

Education From Rabelais Perspective
Education from Rabelais Perspective
The Renaissance altered centuries of thought in Europe. One figured who contributed to
revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world.
In his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century
life especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those
during his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was
extremely familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself
studied in these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the
Middle Ages, but he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period.
Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance.
Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection
to seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s
rants about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by
scholars, was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from
the texts overall value. The author also uses Gargantua, Pantagruel s father, who lived during the
prior period to emphasize the many additional specific failures of medieval education. He writes

Computer Causes And Disadvantages Essay
Computers are a vital part of many different jobs and activities globally, however there are many
health issues that are caused and associated with working with computers. The over use of
computers can cause eye strain. By forcing your eyes to focus at for a long period of time at the

Pad Position Paper
| Assignment 3: Position Paper| | | Dr. Okafor PAD 510| 8/26/2012| | President Obama proposed a
health care plan that will allow every American to have substantial health care coverage. When
discussing Obama s healthcare plan, there are lobbyist that support and some that are against his
healthcare policy. Lobbyists are activist that intend to persuade members of the government to
enact legislation in order to benefit their group of interest. (Nadler, 2006) Lobbyists do not just
select the topic of the moment to lobby for, instead they have done sufficient and adequate research
and analyzed legislation to determine which issues are most important. The position of a lobbyist in

People tend to not want to do better and achieve greater things as long as there is so much
government assistance. Expanding Medicaid and other government assistance only enables
people and causes more laziness from people that abuse the system. There should be adjustments
to federal assistance not expansions to it. Lobbyist responding in favor of Obama s policy
would agree that President Obama s healthcare plan is a good plan and a great way to give
Americans access to healthcare insurance they did not have before. It provides Americans with
the opportunity to afford the insurance they require for their families to stay healthy. It is also a
good plan because although many large businesses will be required to offer insurance to their
employees, a tax credit is provided to them to help cover the cost of the premiums. Insurance
companies have been notorious for dropping policies of people once they become very ill and
need insurance the most. Under the Obama healthcare plan, companies will no longer be allowed
to refuse coverage to an individual due to a pre existing illness. Children who have pre existing
illnesses will also be covered which is a major improvement to any healthcare plan. Another
positive argument is because almost every American will now have healthcare insurance, the cost
will decrease due to the fact there will be less frequent emergency room visits, because each person
can visit their own primary care physician. Due to so many

Mambo Dance History
The mambo genre and dance style have a linked history. Since its origins in Cuba, Mambo has
evolved into many dance forms, each one sporting different footwork and moves. All of these new,
fast pace movements originated from the basic Mambo dance, which was popularized by
DГЎmaso PГ©rez Prado. The lively mambo song, Mambo No. 5 was composed and performed
in 1952 by the Cuban Mexican band leader Perez Prado. He was famously known as the King of
the Mambo . Prado recorded numerous mambos and when he ran out of inspiration, he would
simply number them. Mambo No. 5 was the most famous out of a series of 8 mambos.

Matancera , Cuba s best known musical group.(Wilson,1) In 1948, he moved to Mexico to form his
own band to record for RCA Victor, a recording studio.(Siegel,1) Prado specialized in mambos, an
upbeat adaptation of the Cuban culture. At the height of the mambo movement in 1955, Prado hit
the American charts at number one with his self composed Mambo No.5. The sound of this
composition is lively and upbeat. The song is mostly instrumental comprised of a few monophonic
vocals towards the end of the song. It has a polyphonic texture, where the wind instruments play
several independent melodies and the percussion is in the background as the harmony. The most
recognizable instruments in the piece are the trumpet, saxophone, timbales and the drums. The

Synthesis Essay On The Melting Pot
The United States has a motto, e pluribus unum, that suggests that in America, embracing diversity
creates unity. Long ago, during the 1900s, assimilation was considered to be crucial in order for a
naturalization process to occur. Immigrants were forced to assimilate and adopt to the American
culture, in which they had never been introduced to before. Over time, things evolved and changed
to the point where people began to assimilate to a certain point, but still have their cultural
traditions, giving America a nickname known as the Melting Pot. America being known as The
Melting Pot, defends the claim that in today s society, The United Statesof America is moving
toward a new standard in which diversity and individuality are encouraged more than uniformity
and conformity. Before a naturalization ceremony occurs, the United States citizens still have their
cultural ideas and languages being spoken along with them. In Source 1, it s a picture of citizens all
waving American flags, with a subtitle of, New U.S. Citizens wave American flags before being

never be white again. This evidence is proving that it doesn t mean much to be assimilated into
American culture, but to be spirited as an American. This issue has disappeared over time, as this

that America is known as the melting pot nowadays, and is not considered white

A Comparison Of A Woman In Blue And A Beetle In Gold
A Woman in Blue and a Beetle in Gold
Many things can determine the differences between 2 paintings, so the two works by Yvonne
Estrada and Steven R. Kutcher, are very different in many ways, very similar. These two paintings
mostly differ in painter, and medium, but are similar in their use of color. They painters of these two
works are very different, so different that Steven R. Kutcher wasn t really the one who painted
Sunrise No.1. The real painter of Sunrise No.1 was an unnamed darkling beetle. A beetle who

including James and the Giant Peach, so when director, Steven Spielberg needed a shot of a fly
walking through ink, Kutcher was happy to help, which started his interest in insect art. Yvonne
Estrada is a woman, who is most famous for her collection of works entitled Blue. She gets her
inspiration for Blue through nature, which is why many of her pieces include shapes that look to

My Experience At My Bedroom s Door
When a frantic knock came to my bedroom s door, I was standing in front of a three sided mirror
looking at myself. I had purchased a floral print bikini the same day I had my conversation with
Howard s cousin Myra and lucky that I had. It had taken me nearly three days looking at myself
in it for my face to no longer redden. Even with the floral wrap giving the illusion that my lower
half was covered still left very little to the imagination as to what was under it. I had even
returned to the boutique to look over less revealing swimwear, but this was what Myra had
suggested. My mind was changed when the least expected event occurred. I had overheard a
few women angry whispers about someone like me who can eat all they want and look like they
are preparing to walk down some fashion runway in Malan. Skinny girls like me were always
the ones the guys truly want and if I had what they called boobs, then I would have men walking
into walls. After looking up what boobs actually meant, I now understood what Myra was saying
and put back on my floral print bikini. I still wasn t going to get breast implants, but at least I
was no longer self conscious about being called Long Legged Hendrix behind my back when I
was in boarding school. Now I knew it was more than just an insult. It was jealousy. Once again I
caught myself looking at all of me in the three sided mirror giggling and having all thoughts of
inappropriate ideas. Whoever was disturbing my... Come in, I

The Influence Of The Italian Renaissance
The Renaissance period is know for the revival of the classical art and intellect born in ancient
Greece and Rome. The Renaissance is also a time that is marked with growth, exploration and
rebirth. The Italian Renaissance started in Florence and progressively made it s way into Venice
and then into the great city of Rome. During the Renaissance, Rome was home to some of the
renowned works of art and the finest architectural masterpieces in the world to many that still holds
true today. Along with the delicate architecture and grand artistry, Rome was also home to a
mixture of people and cultures. It is in this cultural context that understanding how men, woman,
and specifically Jewsand Christians lived in Rome, becomes important to better understanding this
period of renewal.
Men who were Catholic in Rome during this time period, by far had the easiest part out of the
three. For the most part they had jobs, they were able to hold property and they were allowed to
vote. They were also the heads of the households, the owners of businesses, and often could be
seen in brothels. If a man were to go pay for a prostitute nothing was ever really said, men could
sleep around with as man women as he chooses. Pope Alexander VI and even some cardinals were
notorious for sleeping with harlots. Men were also seen to be at fault less than women. For
example in document 11, it presents the testimony from a rape trial. The outcomes of this trial
are still unknown, however, and important piece is in the preface when Bell is talking about
what when on in the trail. Bell explained that in the man s defense he said that the girl had loose
morals and that she would pose naked for men all the time. Nowadays, if a man were to say
anything remotely along the lines of that he would probably be laughed at and thrown in jail
immediately. It is also important to examine his defense because it gives insight into what men
really thought of themselves and of women. From his defense you can see that he believes himself
a higher individual, which corresponds to the social pyramid. Men were always higher on the totem
pole than women.
Women who were catholic might be lower on the totem pole than men who were catholic, but they

The Four Voyages, is an instantaneous account each single voyage taken by Christopher Columbus,
what he and his men stumbled upon in the New World, and the long standing effects these
European conquistadors did face throughout it. Throughout Columbus s life as an explorer he went
on four great voyages and made many great discoveries. Christopher Columbus s four voyages were
both that of exploration and imperialism. The lands which he discovered, he claimed not only for
himself, but also for the Spanish Crown, although he had very minimal idea as to where their
exact location were. All through the end of his existence Columbus continued to believe that Cuba,
Hispaniola (which now consists of the Dominican Republic and Haiti), and the Indies which

Conflict And Social Behavior Perspective
Introduction This paper will show how conflict and social behavior perspective play an important
role in Dasani s life (Hutchinson, 2015). The reader will have a better understanding of the
perspective through examples in Dasani s life. This paper will conclude with a reflection of the
writer s future profession in the social work field.
Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of someone who has
power and seeks to oppress people with less power, sometime through discrimination or control
(Hutchinson, 2015). Individuals who are not in the social work field would automatically assume
that the conflict involves a dispute between two individuals. An issue with conflict perspective is
that it has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning
occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning
theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov
s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning
the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is
rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the
result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements
with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative
reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from
continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through
observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference
between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the
individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that
a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
Dasani s conflict Perspective A reoccurring conflict throughout this case assessment is the mayor s
ignorance to the policies that he is

First Generation Sequencing ( Ngs ) Technologies
Advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have offered new and practical
approaches for crop breeding; 1) whole genome resequencing (WGR), 2) genotyping by
sequencing (GBS), 3) genome wide association studies (GWAS), and 4) genome editing
technologies (GET). The cost and time for sequencing and genotyping have continuously and
dramatically decreased by the developments of diverse high throughput platforms. The extensive
production and active utilization of genomic resources including genomics tools and resources
for crop breeding programs created a new term, genomics assisted breeding (GAB) (Varshney et
al. 2005). The landscape of soybean breeding programs has been accelerated along with advance in
the genomic era. Advances in NGS technologies have taken the implementation of SNPs for
genomic and genetic studies and NGS has become a turning point for next generation breeding
programs due to its reduced sequencing cost (Kim et al. 2016).
Whole genome resequencing (WGR)
Resequencing of elite cultivars, landraces, and wild genotypes based on the Williams 82 reference
genome sequence (Schmutz et al. 2010) has become an important tool to study allelic variation,
domestication events, allele diversification at candidate gene loci (Chung et al. 2014; Kim et al.
2010; Lam et al. 2011). As a good example of WGR approach for nematode resistance in soybean,
Xu et al. (2013) identified two RKN candidate genes in 29.7 kb interval through the resequencing of

Haemolysis Test Lab Report
To find the first unknown bacteria, the microbiology student started by inoculating a sample on a
slide to stain with Gram s stain; resulting a gram positive cocci. He continued by looking at the
dichotomous key in the Lab Manual, afterwards doing a catalase test on an inoculated slide to
differentiate it from being either a Streptococcus or a Staphylococcus (2). He then put the hydrogen

concluding that the Gram positive species is catalase positive. He now had to inoculate a sample of

After inoculating and incubating at 37В°C for two days, it resulted with substantial growth. This

Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper
Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by
inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid
secretion from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the
bloodstream to the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell
membrane in the cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic
environments. They diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular
secretory canaliculus, the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are
converted to their active form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid
secretions. Since the active principles forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic
enviorment of the proton pump and results in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The
different PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to
different sites on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram
per milligram basis. PPIs require an enteric coating to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Purchasing Parity Power
The purpose of this paper is to examine the key term of purchasing parity power (PPP). This key
term is used for several global business processes and decision making from the strategic to the

validity of the variables used to calculate PPP and provides examples of ways to restructure the
variables for certain business processes. Ultimately, it is a term and algorithm in which global

In other words, the exchange rate is the equalizing factor that maintains product costs relatively
consistent across countries.
While there are myriad of PPP calculations, there are two general approaches, absolute and relative
(Hyrina Serletis, 2010). The absolute calculation relies on the nominal exchange rate and the
relative accounts for fluctuations like inflation (2010). In fact, the variables of the calculation
create the controversy, in that, scholars agree that there are additional non constant variables to
consider and many different perspectives to view the variables. Nevertheless, despite the
controversy regarding how PPP is calculated, it is used for analyzing and reporting on costs across
countries by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development (OECD), and by global business leaders to make decisions (Investopedia, 2016).

PPP calculation was presented as applied it to international project cost benchmarking. His research
goal was to prove that the PPP calculation, and one in particular, enables the highest level of
accuracy for cost benchmarking for international businesses (Langston, 2016). He did this because
current benchmarking calculations use exchange rates to first get monetary units to U.S. dollar
(USD), instead of using PPP, which is a more comprehensive picture of location

Water Hardness Essay
Introduction:
Water is an important substance that is needed all around the world. Freshwater is not completely
pure though. It has dissolved solutes from minerals, and gases from the atmosphere. The presence
of dissolved ions in water gives it a chemical property that is called water hardness. Water hardness
refers to a liquid that has a high concentration of minerals, but those minerals are typically Ca2+,
and Mg2+. Water that has a very low concentration of these elements is called soft . This chemical
property can be measured as concentrations in molarity, M; parts per million, ppm; and grains per
gallon1.
Once you measure the hardness of water, there s a scale you could compare it to. If the
measurement of the water is less than 17.1 ppm, the classification of that is that the water is
soft. The classification of water being 17.1 60 ppm is that it s slightly hard. If the water is 60 120
ppm the classification of that water is moderately hard. If the water is 120 180 ppm it s said to be
hard. Anything over 180 ppm is considered very hard.2
It is important to study the hardness of water because of the of the problems that can arise when left
untreated. Hard water can cause a build up in plumbing fixtures or water heaters. This happens when
calcium carbonate is deposited as calcite crystals on the inner surface of pipes, and evaporator
surfaces. The build up can cause a blockage in pipes, and eventually corrode the metal of the pipes.3
Water hardness can be determined

The Upper Class and Miss Anne Elliot Essay
The Upper Class and Miss Anne Elliott
Jane Austen, it appears, seems to be saddened by the decay of England s aristocratic social order.
The study of her main character, Anne Elliot, and her innocent yet intelligent like persona take her
readers further into the core of her foundation of ethics, and the relation of these to the daunting
traditions of her immediate family and surrounding social circle gives the reader a fresh look at the
importance of class distinction and the clearly perceptible emptiness of the aristocratic society that,
in actuality is believed to have existed in Austen s own life. A close assessment of the development
of Austen s ideals through the course of her novels reveals the fundamental nature of the central ...

The absence of familial love increases in Persuasion, as Anne Elliott, exists in her own perception
apart from what she thinks are the less appealing characteristics of her family. The distinction
between this novel and her others is that for the first time in Austen s work, the inferior class is
actually superior intellectually, morally and emotionally as compared to the high ranking society.
This book also blatantly criticizes the prominent social class that had been, to some extent, upheld
up to different degrees by at least one character in all of her previous novels.
Anne Elliott acts as the only interpreter of this representation as she sees, with somewhat silent
condescension, the absurd vanity her family is fascinated with. An ideal example of Anne s moral
ethics opposing her father s vain ones occurs when she offers the idea of a high ranking naval
officer renting their manor while they relocate to Bath. Here Anne spoke
The Navy, I think, who have done so much for us, have at least an equal claim with any other set
of men, for all the comforts and privileges which any home can give. Sailors work hard enough for
their comforts, we all must allow.
Yet, Sir Walter s biased and inflexible response to Anne s modest and tolerant one, which follows,

Social Constructivist Leadership
Abstract
The Making of a Leader: A Phenomenological Study of the Lived Experiences of Women Who
Have Served as President at U.S. Colleges and Universities
Katrina L. Jackson, Ed.D.
Drexel University, May 2015
Chairperson: Kathy D. Geller
Women in the position of president at U.S. colleges and universities have defied the odds. Since the
1980s, the number of women presidents in colleges and universities has grown, increasing from
9.5% in 1986 to only 26.0% in 2011. Although the percentage of women presidents of these
institutions has increased, there is still an underrepresentation of women in the role of president
(American Council on Education, 2012).
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the reported and lived experiences of
women who became college and university presidents, with the goal of creating a better

Social constructivism is a worldview that argues that the nature of reality is based on the individual
and his or her beliefs and experiences. Gergen (1985) stated, From the constructionist position the
process of understanding is not automatically driven by the forces of nature, but is the result of an
active, cooperative enterprise of persons in relationship (p. 267). This perspective acknowledges
historical and cultural biases as primary influences on the construction of an individual s worldview
and suggests that Descriptions and explanations of the world themselves constitute forms of social
action (Gergen, 1985, pp. 267 268). As a social constructivist, I recognize that when people tell
stories of their lived experiences, certain phrases may be expressed through body movements, facial
expressions, and gestures, and these actions further illuminate what the individual is
communicating (Gergen, 1985). Using the social constructivist paradigm helps the researcher better
understand the world in which each individual participant

How Did The Collapse Of Capitalism
I agree with Karl Marx statement about capitalism. Marx felt that capitalism through
industrialization had increased the productive capability or power of the world s economy far
beyond what individuals had ever witnessed before. Despite this fact, Marx also felt that
capitalism created two different classes of people that were competing with each other on social
hierarchy. First, was the bourgeoisie who owned and controlled the means of creating a
production, and they also hired wage laborers to distribute their production. Second, was the
proletariat, who were mere common workers who owned nothing of a real production or any real
power to hired many workers. They had the right through to sell their own labor. Capitalisms
foundation is that it ensures these classes would struggle against one another. To the point where
the class of workers would become massive, and oppressed each other enough that it would
overthrow the bourgeoisie. Moreover, capitalism social classes would seize the means of production
from bourgeoisie and end the economic system eventually. The system of socialismwould be
ushered in and would gradually develop into pure communism.
Capitalism in my opinion, has been the subject of criticism or backlash from many perspectives
during its history. Criticisms mostly ranges from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Living Conditions
In The Boy in Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, the conditions and characteristics of life in
Auschwitz are atrocious and perilous to the Jews. The quality of life that is present in the
surroundings is appalling and unlivable that it resembles a prison. Bruno, the main protagonist,
despises living outside of the camp, which he describes the camp to be made up of nothing but a
tall fence and the wooden telegraph poles and the barbed wire bales (p.94). The lack of certain
basic necessities and the prisonlike environment reflects not only the physical conditions but also in
the physical appearances of the people who live there, especially the Jewish population. As a matter
of fact, Shmuel, a Jewish detainee contained in the concentration camp,

Labor Unions And The Industrial Age
In 1900, 18 percent of all American workers were under the age of 16 (Yellowitz, http:/
/www.history.com/topics/child labor). For years people have gone back and forth on whether
or not labor unions are actually beneficial to workers or if unions are harmful to the economy.
Labor unions first started popping up as early as 1794 and started catching on in the 1880s with
the introduction of The Knights of Labor. (Staff, http://www.history.com/topics/knights of labor)
Unions grew in response to terrible working conditions, long hours, zero benefits, very low
wages, and child labor. The opponents of labor unions were around even before then. When the
industrial age began and people started moving to the cities, many employers took advantage of
the high numbers of people in search for work and treated them more as numbers and expendable
machines than people. The workers maybe got enough to live on after working for most of the
day, everyday, for most of their lives. Even the children had to work those same hours instead of
enjoying their childhood. The flip side to all of that is that the economy expanded and there were
many people who got rich through that system. Overall, labor unions were extremely beneficial not
only to American workers but also to the American economy because they improved working
conditions, eliminated child labor, and because the more money workers received, the more money
they spent and put back into the economy. On one hand labor unions did a lot to

  • 2. Biography Of Mary Shelley MARY SHELLEY Mary Wollestonecraft (Godwin) Shelley was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England to philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollestonecraft; both her parents were well noted writers. Mary herself grew up to be a very well known English novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer and is best known for her novel Frankenstein. Wollestonecraft passed away soon after Mary was born and therefore Mary was raised by her father who provided her with a rich and informal education and encouraged her to adhere his own political liberal theories. A voracious reader, Mary borrowed books from her father s extensive library. She enjoyed writing at a young age, and her passion was to write stories intended for a very limited audience. In 1814, Mary began a romance with one of her father s political followers, the then married Percy Bysshe Shelley. Together with Mary s stepsister Claire Clairmont, Mary and Shelley left for France and traveled through Europe. Upon their return to England, Mary was pregnant with Percy s child. Over the next two years, she and Percy faced ostracism, constant debt, and the death of their prematurely born daughter. They married in late 1816, after the suicide of Percy Shelley s first wife, Harriet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The summer proved wet and unseasonable; Byron suggested the group take to writing ghost stories to pass the time. It was during this summer that the form for Frankenstein was to take shape. The story was first only a few pages, but with the encouragement of Percy, the tale took on a greater length. Mary s story, the best of the group, was so frightening to Byron that he ran shrieking in horror from the room. Frankenstein was published in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Most Pragmatic And Realistic Approach The Greatest Thing in the World was my favorite piece of reading from the entire semester in Advanced Interpersonal Communication. I found this book to be the most pragmatic and realistic approach to how to love while also being quite concise. Although I have enjoyed reading and discussing The Great Divorce, The Four Loves, and Beloved through the year, none of them have had the same sense of application for me as that of Henry Drummond s writing. Drummond uses simple language to break down the superiority of love, the composition of love, and the importance of love using the passage 1 Corinthians 13. It is a passage I was familiar with and had even read many similar readings on, but none with such detail. Drummond s writings have made me consider the dialectical tensions involved in communicating with the Body of Christ along with the nature of love and the importance of relationships within the Body of Christ. There are many points of tension within the Body of Christ due to imperfect people and their inability to communicate love perfectly. People are supposed to practice love and with practice comes mistakes. Earth s purpose is to act as an education on for us all to ask ourselves how better can we love (Drummond, 36). Specifically, tensions arise when we become envious or prideful. Since there are often others doing better than us, the temptation to be competitive presents itself often. Pride is common because humility is difficult. Drummond suggests that after some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dickinson s I heard a Fly buzz is one of her poems relating to her death fascination. Emily Dickinson s poem I heard a Fly buzz is about Emily /speaker observing their own death. The speaker then begins to convey more about the death and what the corpse is thinking about. In the first stanza of the poem I heard a Fly buzz the speaker starts out with a fly then describes their death and how the people felt. I heard a Fly buzz / when I died (1), the narrator is stating that a fly buzzed around a corpse emphasizing death itself. The Stillness in the Room/ Was like the Stillness in the Air/ Between ... It is caused by inappropriate vasopressin secretion either from the pituitary or from the ectopic source independent of the circulatory volume status and serum osmolality resulting in hyponatremia. Also there occurs inappropriate diuresis due to the action of vasopressin in the collecting tubules and its action continues until V2 receptors are down regulated (vasopressin escape) [5]. This is a contrast to Spartan oligarchy, which limited power to a small group of men. Athenian democracyencouraged citizens to use their voice and consequently make an impact on their society. The government included more people s opinions, gave Athenians a more lavish lifestyle and offered more freedom within the education system. Since Athenians could help make decisions, they were more pleased with the outcome. Also, with a more diverse range of men voting, they were able to use the opinions of different classes, instead of strictly aristocrats who used to hold all the power and still did in Sparta. Undoubtedly, with the power Athenian democracy gave to its people, they were better served. Since Athenian citizens had the power to impact their government, their values were displayed in the decisions that were made. Athens enjoyed spreading their culture to different places, learning from others, and trading for expensive items, which is shown by this excerpt. Then the greatness of our city brings it about that all the good things from all over the world flow into us, so that to us it seems just as natural to enjoy foreign goods as our own local products... They were suspicious of anything foreign, including trade, and they resisted change of any kind. (Dale. Civilizations in History. Alternative One.) This facility researched the rotor blades and heat transfer measurements transfer in low speed turbine environment. The first three rows of the test rig represented a high bypass ratio aircraft engine. The outlying parameters of the facility are as follows; This 1.5 stage low speed facility operated from laboratory air conditions at about 1 atm inlet total pressure and 294 K inlet total temperature with a flow coefficient of 0.78. The experimental turbine having a 0.8 hub/tip ratio had 22 first vanes, 28 first blades, and 28 second vanes. The model airfoil chord lengths were about five times full scale hardware chord lengths. The rotor speed was about 410 m/s and atypical airfoil Reynolds number was approximately 560,000 that were typical of high pressure turbine airfoils. [UTRC] The overall effect of the turbulence and stator rotor interactions were recorded and studied for turbine heat transfer analysis. Time averaged loads on airfoil surfaces not being influenced by unsteadiness in the presence of temperature streaks was a result of research on this test rig. The unsteady computations in the experiment clearly showed that pressure sides of turbine airfoils operate at higher temperatures than the suction sides in the presence of non uniform temperature gradients. • 12. Cholesterol And Levels Of Cholesterol Essay Introduction:In the United States, more than 2,100 people die from cardiovascular disease each day. According to the American Heart Association, too much cholesterol in a person s blood can lead to a heart disease and stroke (1). Cholesterol is the most common sterol in animal. Plants also have sterols in their structure, however human enzyme systems can only digest animal sterols (2). Cholesterolis produced in our bodies by the liver (endogenous) or could come from the foods we eat (exogenous). Both kinds are transported to and from the cells by lipoproteins: LDL and HDL. LDL cholesterol is considered to be the bad cholesterol, since it contributes in depositing plaque in the arteries, therefore contributing to atherosclerosis. HDL, on the other hand, is considered to be the good cholesterol since it has the opposite effect; it removes the LDL cholesterol from the arteries carrying it back to the liver, therefore reducing risks of atherosclerosis. Maintaining the low levels of LDL and high levels of HDL is extremely important, as HDL is responsible for moving the cholesterol from the blood to the liver whereas LDL is the reason for the build up inside the artery therefore increasing the risk of the cardiovascular diseases. In order to assess cholesterol levels in the body, blood serum cholesterol is tested. It is recommended that total cholesterol (TC) level in an individual to be less than 200 mg/dl (desirable level). And that amount is expected to more than double in the next 10 years Stop using plastic straws, even in restaurants. If a straw is a must, purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass straw. How can you stop plastic waste One of the easiest ways to keep plastic out of the landfill is to refuse plastic straws. Simply inform your waiter or waitress that you don t need one, and make sure to specify this when ordering at a drive thru. Can t fathom giving up the convenience of straws? Purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass drinking straw. Restaurants are less likely to bring you a plastic one if they see that you ve brought your own.The things about plastic bags that there are 1 million plastic bags are used every minute, and a single plastic bag can take 1,000 years to degrade. Jamie By Elizabeth Brewster The poem Jamie by Elizabeth Brewster is a poem about a sixteen year old boy who suddenly becomes deaf (lines 1 2), and the poem is about his struggles and emotions towards his new disability.. The poem illustrates many of the struggles of deaf adolescents, as they cannot partake in the same activities as their fully enabled peers. Jamie s struggle is expressed throughout lines two to ten. Jamie has no more songs to listen to, in order to help him cope with typical teenage issues, and to make matters worse, he cannot hear what people are saying about him anymore, which makes Jamie think that they are saying the worst things possible about him: People moved mouths without a sound escaping: He shuddered at the straining of their throats. • 20. The Pedagogical Aspects Of Communicative Language Teaching Communicative Language Teaching This essay will take just a peek at some of the pedagogical aspects of Communicative Language Teaching and the teachers therein. As the U. K. entered the common market (EEC) in the early 1970s. A sharp rise in demand from our new European neighbours for The English Language landed on our shores. Due to the modernization of secondary schools not only in Europe but indeed worldwide, languages were a hot commodity and many were on offer, English being most sort after. This demand equally put educators, linguists and language experts under immense pressure to come up with something new and not as it were traditional methods or approaches e.g. audio linguistics which had been around since the end of the Second World War. In these modern times (the 1960s, 1970s) a plethora of theories, designs, and approaches in the field of second language acquisition, came bubbling up to the surface. Due to the application of different functional, formal, and cognitive linguistic theories. Chomsky and Halliday have immensely contributed to the development of second language teaching theories and practices. Enter the communicative language teaching approach, (CLT). The focus of CLT is primary and necessarily social, concerned as it was with the goal of successful communication (Cook 2010; 36) . The five features of CLT, David Nunan (1991) is one of the most recognised in the field of CLT. 1 An emphasis on learning to communicate through interaction I the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Education From Rabelais Perspective Education from Rabelais Perspective The Renaissance altered centuries of thought in Europe. One figured who contributed to revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world. In his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century life especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those during his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was extremely familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself studied in these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the Middle Ages, but he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period. Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance. Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection to seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s rants about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by scholars, was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from the texts overall value. The author also uses Gargantua, Pantagruel s father, who lived during the prior period to emphasize the many additional specific failures of medieval education. He writes Pantagruel a ... Computer Causes And Disadvantages Essay Computers are a vital part of many different jobs and activities globally, however there are many health issues that are caused and associated with working with computers. The over use of computers can cause eye strain. By forcing your eyes to focus at for a long period of time at the distance cause fatigue. Structurally, the human eye prefers to look at objects that are more than six metres away, so any work executed close up puts additional strain on the eye muscles. The light of the computercan also cause fatigue, the symptoms that can occur are blurred vision, temporary inability to focus on far away objects and headaches. By making sure the main source of light in a room is not shining straight onto your face or directly onto the computer screen, this helps to prevent eye strain. If using the computer at night in a dark room the computer screens brightness is turned down to a minimum. Also, tilting the screen slightly to avoid reflections or glace and insures the computer screen is not too close to your face. It is advised that people take regular breaks during a long period of focused work e.g. every hour. It is important that regular eye examinations are attended to check that any blurred vision, headaches and any other related problems are not caused by a primary problem, which is then made worse by the over use of a computer. (Betterhealth,2017) Back and neck, shoulder and arm related injuries are also common computer related injuries. A poor work station design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lobbyist responding in favor of Obama s policy would agree that President Obama s healthcare plan is a good plan and a great way to give Americans access to healthcare insurance they did not have before. It provides Americans with the opportunity to afford the insurance they require for their families to stay healthy. It is also a good plan because although many large businesses will be required to offer insurance to their employees, a tax credit is provided to them to help cover the cost of the premiums. Insurance companies have been notorious for dropping policies of people once they become very ill and need insurance the most. Under the Obama healthcare plan, companies will no longer be allowed to refuse coverage to an individual due to a pre existing illness. Children who have pre existing illnesses will also be covered which is a major improvement to any healthcare plan. The Renaissance is also a time that is marked with growth, exploration and rebirth. The Italian Renaissance started in Florence and progressively made it s way into Venice and then into the great city of Rome. During the Renaissance, Rome was home to some of the renowned works of art and the finest architectural masterpieces in the world to many that still holds true today. Along with the delicate architecture and grand artistry, Rome was also home to a mixture of people and cultures. It is in this cultural context that understanding how men, woman, and specifically Jewsand Christians lived in Rome, becomes important to better understanding this period of renewal. Men who were Catholic in Rome during this time period, by far had the easiest part out of the three. For the most part they had jobs, they were able to hold property and they were allowed to vote. They were also the heads of the households, the owners of businesses, and often could be seen in brothels. If a man were to go pay for a prostitute nothing was ever really said, men could sleep around with as man women as he chooses. Pope Alexander VI and even some cardinals were notorious for sleeping with harlots. Men were also seen to be at fault less than women. For example in document 11, it presents the testimony from a rape trial. The outcomes of this trial are still unknown, however, and important piece is in the preface when Bell is talking about what when on in the trail. Bell explained that in the man s defense he said that the girl had loose morals and that she would pose naked for men all the time. Nowadays, if a man were to say anything remotely along the lines of that he would probably be laughed at and thrown in jail immediately. It is also important to examine his defense because it gives insight into what men really thought of themselves and of women. From his defense you can see that he believes himself a higher individual, which corresponds to the social pyramid. Men were always higher on the totem pole than women. Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015). Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid secretion from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the bloodstream to the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell membrane in the cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic environments. They diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular secretory canaliculus, the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are converted to their active form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid secretions. Since the active principles forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic enviorment of the proton pump and results in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The different PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to different sites on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram per milligram basis. It has dissolved solutes from minerals, and gases from the atmosphere. The presence of dissolved ions in water gives it a chemical property that is called water hardness. Water hardness refers to a liquid that has a high concentration of minerals, but those minerals are typically Ca2+, and Mg2+. Water that has a very low concentration of these elements is called soft . This chemical property can be measured as concentrations in molarity, M; parts per million, ppm; and grains per gallon1. Once you measure the hardness of water, there s a scale you could compare it to. If the measurement of the water is less than 17.1 ppm, the classification of that is that the water is soft. The classification of water being 17.1 60 ppm is that it s slightly hard. If the water is 60 120 ppm the classification of that water is moderately hard. If the water is 120 180 ppm it s said to be hard. Though enjoyment can be had by just looking at physical appearance, the true significance of the piece cannot be reached without gaining knowledge of its origins. African art, specifically, to be fully savored must be further investigated to recognize its importance. Willett talks about how to fully interpret African art and how westerns are improperly viewing African art. • 40. A Career In Speech-Language Pathology As a child, I was faced with a lot of adversity. My grandmother raised my brothers and me. We lived on government assistance with little money and no car for transportation for extracurricular activities. The hardships we faced compelled me at a young age to stay in school, go to college, and make something of myself because I did not want to live a life limiting my dreams and opportunities. Throughout my academic career, there was not a specific moment that solidified my desire to pursue a profession in Speech Language Pathology (SLP); instead, there were numerous. • 41. I Attended The Temple College Vocal Point Concert I attended the Temple College Vocal Point concert on November 1, 2016 at 12:30 pm in the Jackson Graeter Backstage Theatre. The Theatre, located in the Mary Alice Marshal Performing Arts Center, at Temple College is small, seating approximately 100 people. Since the setting is quaint, it makes for a personal experience, allowing the audience to truly see and hear the entertainers character. The stage size also has a downside, at times the actors would trip over each other while dancing. The Vocal Point concert titled From Rent to Now: The last 20 Years of Broadway: is directed by Dr. Sara Baker. This Contemporary Broadway show consists of sixteen characters. It is a spoof on musicals. The opening scene played by Trey Shonkwiler and Konnor Widmann was funny, and catchy. They sang A Musical from Something Rotten! Shonkwiler is a Tenor, while Widmann is a Baritone. Together they made beautiful harmonies, they complimented each other vocally, and as actors very well. The next song Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening was sung by all the women, with a soloist. Kristen Garth has a lovely altovoice, her performance was unconfident, and a bit nervous, she had a few notes that were flat, overall it was nice. There were a few moments where the background singers were too loud, overpowering the soloist. When He Sees Me, from Waitress, sung by Kris Glorsorio was wonderful. She has a beautiful Alto/ Mezzo voice. She connected wholly with her character, I thought the balance of head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The study of her main character, Anne Elliot, and her innocent yet intelligent like persona take her readers further into the core of her foundation of ethics, and the relation of these to the daunting traditions of her immediate family and surrounding social circle gives the reader a fresh look at the importance of class distinction and the clearly perceptible emptiness of the aristocratic society that, in actuality is believed to have existed in Austen s own life. The absence of familial love increases in Persuasion, as Anne Elliott, exists in her own perception apart from what she thinks are the less appealing characteristics of her family. The distinction between this novel and her others is that for the first time in Austen s work, the inferior class is actually superior intellectually, morally and emotionally as compared to the high ranking society. This book also blatantly criticizes the prominent social class that had been, to some extent, upheld up to different degrees by at least one character in all of her previous novels. Anne Elliott acts as the only interpreter of this representation as she sees, with somewhat silent condescension, the absurd vanity her family is fascinated with. An ideal example of Anne s moral ethics opposing her father s vain ones occurs when she offers the idea of a high ranking naval officer renting their manor while they relocate to Bath. Here Anne spoke The Navy, I think, who have done so much for us, have at least an equal claim with any other set of men, for all the comforts and privileges which any home can give. • 49. How Did The Collapse Of Capitalism I agree with Karl Marx statement about capitalism. Marx felt that capitalism through industrialization had increased the productive capability or power of the world s economy far beyond what individuals had ever witnessed before. Despite this fact, Marx also felt that capitalism created two different classes of people that were competing with each other on social hierarchy. First, was the bourgeoisie who owned and controlled the means of creating a production, and they also hired wage laborers to distribute their production. Second, was the proletariat, who were mere common workers who owned nothing of a real production or any real power to hired many workers. They had the right through to sell their own labor. Capitalisms foundation is that it ensures these classes would struggle against one another. To the point where the class of workers would become massive, and oppressed each other enough that it would overthrow the bourgeoisie. Moreover, capitalism social classes would seize the means of production from bourgeoisie and end the economic system eventually. The system of socialismwould be ushered in and would gradually develop into pure communism. • 52. Labor Unions And The Industrial Age In 1900, 18 percent of all American workers were under the age of 16 (Yellowitz, http:/ /www.history.com/topics/child labor). For years people have gone back and forth on whether or not labor unions are actually beneficial to workers or if unions are harmful to the economy. Labor unions first started popping up as early as 1794 and started catching on in the 1880s with the introduction of The Knights of Labor. (Staff, http://www.history.com/topics/knights of labor) Unions grew in response to terrible working conditions, long hours, zero benefits, very low wages, and child labor. The opponents of labor unions were around even before then. When the industrial age began and people started moving to the cities, many employers took advantage of the high numbers of people in search for work and treated them more as numbers and expendable machines than people. The workers maybe got enough to live on after working for most of the day, everyday, for most of their lives. Even the children had to work those same hours instead of enjoying their childhood. The flip side to all of that is that the economy expanded and there were many people who got rich through that system. Overall, labor unions were extremely beneficial not only to American workers but also to the American economy because they improved working conditions, eliminated child labor, and because the more money workers received, the more money they spent and put back into the economy. On one hand labor unions did a lot to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
