Dr. Jones presents the “Cliff Analogy” for understanding four levels of health intervention: medical care, secondary prevention, primary prevention, and addressing the social determinants of health. She described how health disparities arise on three levels (differences in quality of care, differences in access to care, and differences in underlying exposures and opportunities) and expand the “Cliff Analogy” to illustrate the relationship between addressing the social determinants of health and addressing the social determinants of equity, which is a fifth level of health intervention.
She identifies racism as one of the social determinants of equity and a fundamental cause of “racial”/ethnic health disparities in the United States, with racism defined as a system of structuring opportunity and assigning value based on the social interpretation of how one looks, which is what we call “race.” She described how racism impacts health on three levels (institutionalized, personally-mediated, and internalized) and animate understanding of these levels of racism with her “Gardener’s Tale” allegory.
Finally, using data from the “Reactions to Race” module on the 2004 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, she examined the relationship between responses to “How do other people usually classify you in this country?” and self-rated general health status to provide evidence of the impacts of racism on health. Dr. Jones challenges us to broaden the scope of our public health interventions by asking the question “How is racism operating here?” and then working to create a system in which ALL people are highly valued and ALL people are able to develop to their full potential.
Ageing is an important physiological phenomenon faced by all living individuals that is multifactorial and complex. The causation is still a matter of controversy. There is a lack of consensus regarding the appropriate age of ageing, though most of the countries uses chronological ages.
This presentation is regarding active ageing that builds up framework that will help the elderly mass to live a disease free active life with active participation and security in life.
This presentation also describes the different challenges faced by the elderly population for active ageing.
Government of India has been working for the aged population and there has been a number of policies and programmes that are solely dedicated to the elderly masses that has been also described here.

The body requires a healthy diet and once at a time physical activity to ensure healthy lives, but contrary to that unhealthy diets and inactivity contribute to chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer or cardiovascular diseases. Improving diets and physical activity will actually reduce disease and deaths on the target community that is currently is something World Health Organization started an initiative for member states to adopt diet, physical activity, and disease prevention.
This health promotion activity is directed towards the local community and specifically the elderly, mainly because they are the section of the population that is likely to be attacked by such diseases, but also the other population section is affected. So, the focus will be on the physicians and nutritionists who will come in and help with this campaign. This is because the younger population like the millennials mostly focus on healthy living with going vegan or regularly visiting the gym in the pursuit of following trends. This will not be a problem for this age group.
The possible stakeholders will be both the government and the private sectors, in the sense that other workplaces have policies in place that support physical activity and proper diet for their workers for the sole purpose of productivity in the workplace. They initiatives in place that include: maybe having walking meetings, provide healthy diet solutions at the workplace by inviting nutritionists and many other ways. The expected results include a healthy community, and maybe possibly pass the message wide enough that it can be a worldwide movement that is of course after ensuring the point is taken in this local community. Hence this is the best health promotion activity for this target population because I believe knowledge is power whereby it acts as prevention, which will bring the collaboration of various professions in the clinical practice.

Physical activity is a crucial component of school curricula as it is suggested to increase the students’ academic performance. This may be applied in the university age group, especially when considering medical and health sciences colleges where higher stress levels are recorded. Aim: To assess the relationship between physical activity and academic performance among medical and health sciences students. Methods: an online questionnaire-based cross sectional study involved 198 students from RAK Medical and Health Sciences University was conducted to identify the level of physical activity and academic performance. Results were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS. Results: there was significant positive correlation between physical activity and academic performance (r = 0.208). However, the correlation was higher for BDS College with no significant difference with regard to nationality, age and gender.

The socio-economic status make-up of an individual Influences habitual physical activity and plays an important role in one’s achievements in every field of life, including performance in sports. The current study aimed to assess the effect of socio-economic status determined by parental education and family income on the effective students’ participation in physical activity sessions at RAK Medical& Health Sciences University. The study demonstrated significant positive correlation between physical activity levels of the students and mother education (r=0.139, p=0.05) and family income (r = 0.182, p= 0.01), while father education had no significant effect on the level of students’ physical activity (r =0.030, p=0.676). Conversely, a significant negative correlation was noted between the physical activity levels of the students and number of family members (r = -0.130, p= 0.068). The study also revealed that the majority (114/198, 52%) of students were in the medium socio-economic status category. In addition, students with low socio-economic status were more likely to display low physical activity whereas students with high socio-economic status were more likely to display high physical activity.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
