The document discusses the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) syllabus in NSW primary schools. PDHPE teaches students about both physical and mental health, encouraging healthy lifestyles. It aims to help students lead active, fulfilling lives and take responsible roles in society. Through PDHPE, students learn skills like communication, decision making, problem solving, and interacting with others that benefit them for life. They are less likely to experience issues like bullying, obesity, or nutrition deficiencies as a result of the knowledge and skills gained in PDHPE classes.

related to health and physical activity and develop positive
attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle.”

understanding , skills and values and attitudes needed for each
individual student to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives. It
gives students to the chance to take on a responsible and
productive role within society.
PDHPE teaches things aspect both inside (PDH) and outside (PE)
the classroom through a wide range of subject matter which
includes:
An active lifestyle

4. WHAT THE CHILDREN WALK
AWAY WITH
Students learn more than just sports. At the end of the day the
students are better able to:
Communicate: they are able to express their needs, wants, feelings,
ideas and opinions, listen and respond to others, and negotiate and
resolve conflict.
Make better decisions: in regards to their personal health and
lifestyle choices.
Interact with others: in a positive way in various environments and
group situations.
Moving about: in effective ways to different stimuli
Solve problems: by gathering information through observations
questioning and research. Coming up with alternative solutions
through problem-solving strategies and selecting the best resolution.
5. SO REMEMBER…
Children who learn these skills through PDHPE will have them for
life.
Here are just a few examples of the importance and impact of
PDHPE:
Less children being bullied. Those who still bet bullied will however
have a better support system and awareness of how to handle
situations.
Less obesity and nutrition deficiencies because of a better
understanding knowledge
Children who enjoy PDHPE are more likely to implement
the lessons they learn in everyday life.
