2. Development of Skills and Abilities
 Pdhpe (Personal development and health and physical activity)
provides students with a well-rounded self awareness within the
world and the environments they involve themselves in.
 The 5 core areas of PDHPE are:
 Decision making – informed decisions.
 Moving- refines and applies movement skills.
 Interacting- enhance contribution of self and others.
 Communicating- communicates confidently in different situations.
 Problem Solving- suggests, considers and suggests appropriate
alternatives.
 All of these topic areas are necessary for progress in everyday life as
an adult.

3. FACTS…
 Personal development and health provides
students with the ability to make informed decisions
with their futures on some topics such as alcohol
and drugs. These factors are a huge worry for
communities and societies today.
 Providing students with an informed decision can
help reduce the rate of binge drinking and suicide in
teens.
 Pdhpe as a whole encapsulates a wide variety of
subjects that merge together within the subject and
help promote healthy living and future lifestyle.

4. A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE…
 Pdhpe provides children with the means to
live a healthy lifestyle.
 The need to reduce childhood obesity is a
major factor in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
 The fun and positive aspects of physical
activity need to be emphasised as research
shows that endorphins are released during
exercise and help maintain a healthy brain.

5. SELF IDENTITY
 Pdhpe promotes both a healthy mind and body and
focuses on forming relationships, safe living and
positive health choices.
 The encouragement of respecting one’s self and
others provides a pathway to a positive lifestyle and
influence on others.
