PROFILE
Having previously worked as a home based employee I have gained invaluable experience in Regulated Sales over a 15
year span, with a real understanding of how to help people succeed within the corporate environment.
Protection, Savings and Investments and Retirement Solutions have been my main focus for many years with a wealth
of understanding in all of these areas, for both the benefit of the company, employees and client alike. This enabled me
to become Aviva’s top adviser for my last 3 years in role.
As an enthusiastic, highly motivated and competitive top adviser, I was able to transfer these qualities to help others
excel. This led to becoming the top Regional Sales Manager for each of the 4 years in role. Recognised as a stand out
leader, with an unrivalled understanding of how to get the best out of people and identify the key priorities for success.
Stakeholder management is an integral part of success and a key asset has been to identify key stakeholders and have
the ability to build strong relationships and influence them. This has included business to business management in the
IFA market.
A keen interest in leadership and making a difference to help others outperform helps to keep my standards very high.
Having recently started an Equity Release Advice Service, I have been able to compete against and beat the biggest
firms for clients because of the service levels achieved, with attention to detail given being second to none. This
opportunity has led to understanding and experiencing how to start up a business within this arena, alongside the
importance of marketing and lead generation.
During the first 18 months we have become the face to face locum for StepChange, who are the biggest debt charity in
England as well integral partners of Full Of Life, which is a government backed initiative to recognise “Older People”.
The rewards of being so pro-active and client orientated have meant that we were “Highly Commended” at the 2014
National Equity Release Awards, on top of being asked to become the ambassador of the Later Life Academy.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Viva Retirement Solutions July 2013 –present
Principal and joint owner
I have used my industry experience to jointly set up an Equity Release advice company that looks to offer a 1st
class service to elderly clients looking at this area of finance.
This has involved setting up a website and optimizing leads from this source while dealing with the day to day
running of such a company.
Essentially this has also involved building great business to business relationships to give introducers the
confidence to pass their clients to us for that second to none client experience.
Aviva 1998 – June 2013
Regional Sales Manager 2009-present
In my four years in role I have managed to triumph as top manager in all four years, being over target, hitting all business
mixes and finishing within strict risk appetite. This has led to winning the last 4 annual incentive awards.
The key to this success has been through strong leadership, understanding what makes an individual want to outperform
and then helping them in terms of ideas, coaching and development.
Highlights included having 3 different people finishing as top adviser and helping to improve and motivate each adviser
to outperform in terms of sales and compliance year on year.
I have also been influential in setting up bonus schemes, incentives and increasing channel output in key areas for
success such as Equity Release and Protection.
Aviva continuously used me as a sounding board for ideas and allowed me to innovate and lead by example on cross
selling, business mix and business quality.
Regional Sales Manager 2012
While continuing the “day job” I was also instrumental in setting up a brand new entity for Aviva – the Worksite Employee
Advice Team.
I was able to construct specific interviews which allowed the management team to easily spot the right candidates and
was bold enough to take on people with no previous knowledge of pensions and working from home.
Here I was able to demonstrate and develop best practice so that my team members became best practice “gurus”.
I was also influential in promoting a team target and pay structure, rather than an individual one.
The result was that all targets were hit in 2012 with cross selling increasing across the board.
Financial Consultant 1998-2009
Won eight incentive awards and was top performer for last 3 years in role. Advising clients on achieving their goals was
the key to success through helping people with Equity Release, Protection, IHT Planning, Savings and Investments and
Pension Planning.
Released millions of pounds overall for people and was very successful in generating sales from existing clients through
the trust and relationship built up with each person.
CFPL
Financial Planner 1997–1998
Successfully passed FPC1-3 within 3 weeks, advising clients on Lincoln National solutions, gaining skills and expertise
to transform initial telephone calls into client meetings and subsequently sales.
EDUCATION
BSc Decision Sciences, (Hons), University of Hertfordshire, Hertford 1994-1997
OTHER SKILLS
Diploma Level 4 qualified, including J07 and J04
Attended several workshops including NLP, Jack Black and Anthony Robbins
Delivered sessions at recent conferences acting as 2nd
line management and also giving ideas on how to improve sales
Delivered presentations to introducers for advisers to benefits from the outcomes and structure of this
INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
Enjoyed organizing and hosting events for Aviva at national sponsored events and using this time to build ongoing
relationships
Currently run a small share club which looks at picking out “penny shares” to share smaller company successes
A keen footballer, previously playing to a semi-professional level and now enjoying a small number of veterans’ matches
to keep fit
Interested in playing other sports such as tennis and golf
Socializing with friends and family is very important to me
