pathology! 2. as a rule, OCD presents itself very similarly across cultures.
a. true b. false
Solution
"Answer' That's true. OCD or Obsessive-compulsive disorder has been shown to prevail
similarly across diffent populations and cultures around the world.
"Explanation"
Various epidemiological studies have been conducted across cultural and geographic locations
around the world. Although the disease has a large spectrum of forms and symptoms due to
cultural influences on the behaviour of the patient, noticeable differences across different
populations occurs for the symptoms in terms of control over the body, the relationship and
beliefs, mood, anxiety, cleaning, impulse controls etc. Also, from country to country, differences
exist in lifetime prevalence of OCD. This is why the clinical course of action and treatment
outcome including drug response differs in different ethnic groups.
This disorder has been reported in number of population, even the isolated populations like
Japan.
