This document provides an overview of the past continuous tense in English. Topic 1: Pastcontinuous • The Past continuous is formed with the verb ‘to be’ in past and the verb + ing. • It is common to use a time expression indicating when the action happened, e.g. last year, yesterday, two years ago. Subject verb ‘to be’ + verb ing complement Natalie was reading a book last night.
- 4. Topic 2. Pastcontinuous • Use the past continuous to express an action occurred for a longer period in the past. • I was watching TV last night. • You can use time expressions such as last night, yesterday or a specific time in the past.
