7. Items for consideration post 2014
• Mustering of newly embarked passengers should take place before the vessel
departs
• Access of personnel to the navigating bridge should be restricted to avoid distractions
during any period of restricted manoeuvring
• The inclusion of nationality of all person on board in the muster lists.
• Dissemination and communication of emergency instructions taking into account the
number of languages likely to be understood.
• Carriage of additional lifejackets in excess of those required in public spaces so that
they are easily accessible and passengers do not have to return to their cabins to
collect lifejackets.
• The requirement for on board damage stability systems to support the Master in case
of flooding;
• Damage response strategy including procedures for damage control drills – due for
adoption at MSC 98
